season 3
Chapter 1
"Yumi, I, uh, I have some-something I want to tell you." Ulrich said, stopping Yumi as they walked through town.
Yumi turned her face to him and smiled, "What Ulrich?"
"I, uh, want to tell you…" Ulrich said, not sure what to say.
"What Ulrich?" Yumi asked again, this time prompting him.
"I uh…"
"AHHH!" Yumi screamed as she got shot at in the stomach.
Ulrich looked forward and saw a man coming at them with a gun. He shot five more times at Yumi, knocking her down to the ground.
Ulrich tried to move, but was frozen to the spot. Was it fear or the man that held him to the spot, he couldn't figure it out.
The man looked at Ulrich and smiled as he shot at him.
Ulrich sat up in his bed, the sheets wet with sweat. Ulrich looked at the clock on the desk by the window and saw that it was 3:45 in the morning.
Ulrich laid back down and tried to go back to sleep, only to see Yumi dying again and again.
Ulrich got up, out of bed, and walked over to his desk. He pulled out his diary and started to write in it, every once in a while glancing over his shoulder to see if Odd was still asleep.
Chapter 2
Odd woke up, his stomach growling from lack of food. Odd got up and saw Ulrich, asleep at his desk, with his head on his diary.
Odd started to read, finding out what it said.
"I can't stand it anymore. I'm asking her out. With us fighting Xana all the time, I don't know if we'll survive for the next day. I can't have what happened in my dream to happen in real life. I'll ask her to go to the movies tonight. I just hope I don't make a fool of myse-..."
Odd tried to move around Ulrich's head to see the rest of the page, only to find him waking up.
Odd turned around to his closet and acted as if he was looking for his clothes.
"Ugh." Ulrich moaned as he sat up, stretching his back.
"Morning, ruff night?" Odd asked, grabbing his clothes and shutting the door to his wardrobe. He walked over to his bed and dropped the clothes on the bed, waking Kiwi.
"More of a nightmare." Ulrich said as he got up from the chair and closed his green dairy. He put it in the draw under his bed.
"Yumi's gonna love tonight." Odd said, smiling as he grabbed his towel and put it around his neck.
"I hope so-HEY, were you-!" Ulrich put 2 and 2 together and got Odd.
"Hey, I just read what was above your head." Odd said, "Yumi'll love it, trust me."
"I hope so." Ulrich said, cooling down and grabbing his towel and shower bag.
"Come on, we've got to wake up Jeremie." Odd said, giving Ulrich a smile.
The two walked out of the room, heading to the second floor.
Chapter 3
"Hey Ulrich." Odd said, poking his friend to get his attention.
Ulrich looked at Odd and saw him looking away from the group of friends at the gate. Ulrich looked that way and saw Yumi coming to them.
Ulrich got up from where he was sitting on the brick flower garden by the vending machines and went to her before she could get to her friends.
"Hey Yumi." Ulrich said as he stopped in front of her.
"Hey Ulrich." Yumi said.
"Um, can I ask you something?" Ulrich asked, looking down at the ground as he tried to find the right words.
"Sure Ulrich."
"I was wondering if you were free this afternoon." He looked up at her.
"As long as Xana doesn't attack."
"Than would you like to go, unm, with me and see a movie?"
"Alright." Yumi said smiling. "I'd like that." Yumi reached over and grabbed his hand. She squeezed it tight as she smiled, her eyes locked with his.
Chapter 4
Ulrich waited at Yumi's door, he had just pushed the doorbell and was waiting for someone to answer.
The door opened, getting Ulrich's attention, and saw that it was Hiroki.
"Is Yumi here?" Ulrich asked.
"Ya." Hiroki said, smiling.
"What?" Ulrich asked, seeing his smile.
"Oh, nothing." Hiroki said, stepping aside to let him inside. "She's up in her room."
"Thanks." Ulrich said, wondering what the kid was thinking.
Ulrich went up the stairs and over to the girl's room.
He knocked on the door as it opened.
"Oh, hey." Ulrich said, looking at her outfit. "I didn't know to dress up."
"Too much?" Yumi asked, looking down at her outfit. She was wearing a black, turtleneck, no sleave shirt that went down to her abbs, showing off her navile, and a black japanes school girl mini skirt. Her shoes were black boots going up to her knees.
"No! I like it." Ulrich said, smiling at her.
"Alright." Yumi said as she walked out of her room and closed the door.
They went down the stairs and through the hallway. As they passed the parler, Yumi stuck her head in and said, "I'm off, see you!"
"Be back before nine." Mr. Ishiyama said, playing Go with Hiroki.
"Don't worry, I will." Yumi said as they walked out the door and headed towards the cinema.
"So what movie are we going to see?" Yumi asked.
"I don't know. I guess we can figure it out when we get there." Ulrich said, sticking his hands in his pockets. Butterflies were all in his stumich from what he wanted to do after the movie.
Chapter 5
"I can't believe how many teens actualy went to that movie." Ulrich said as they left the movie theator.
"Who knew Toy Story 3 would be that big." Yumi said. "But than again, if you think about it, it makes since. I mean, we both watched it when it first came out back in 1995, or at least I know I did."
"I did." Ulrich comfermed.
They walked a little ways as Ulrich tryed to word what he wanted to say right.
"Yumi, I, uh, I have some-something I want to tell you." Ulrich said, stopping Yumi as they walked through town.
"Yes?" Yumi asked, looking at his face.
"I, uh, want to tell you…" Ulrich said, not sure what to say. Than it hit him how alike his dream this was turning out to be. He turned his head towards the way the gun man had been in his dream and saw a man in a long coat. He looked back at her and grabbed her hands. "I want to be more than 'just friends'. I love yuahh!"
Pain laced through out his body. He looked up at Yumi and saw that her face was full of fear. Ulrich's hand reached towards his waist and felt blood coming out as he fell downward. More shots went into his body as he felt the ground.
"Ulrich!" Yumi cried as she watched him hit the ground. She looked towards the man that had shot at him, her hands, fists. "ARRRR!" Yumi cried as she ran at the man.
Pain went into her arm as he shot her left arm, but she didn't care. Yumi jumped and landed on the man, bringing him down to the ground. She fought for the gun to free herself and help Ulrich.
Another shot rang out.
Yumi didn't know who it hit, or even if it had hit her or not, but she was able to do it. She got the gun away from this man, this killer.
Yumi got so that she aimed the gun at the man and shot the remains of the maganzin into his heart.
She dropped the gun and tryed to move over to Ulrich, who laid on his side.
"You can stay in there, Ulrich." Yumi said as she fell to the sidewalk he was laying on. "I love you. You can't die now!"
Yumi pulled out her cell and hit 15 to get help.
"Emergance, how can I help you?" a female voice asked from the phone.
"Help me, please." Yumi said, her hand on Ulrich's shoulder. "My boyfriend was shot by the man that I've just killed."
"Where are you?" the woman asked.
Yumi looked up and tryed to find the street names. "Uh, on Avenue Victor Hugo, by the cinema."
"I'll send an ambulance." she said.
Yumi looked down at Ulrich and saw that he was still breathing. "Come on Ulrich, hang in there."
Ulrich opened his eyes and looked up at her. "Yuh..mi." he tryed to say.
"Shuush." Yumi said, brushing out his hair with her hand, her other one dropped the phone to the ground. "Don't say anything. You need all of your stregth.
"I ave'ta...ove ou Yuh..mi." Ulrich said, his voice full of pain as he tryed to speek.
"I love you too, Ulrich." Yumi said.
Sirens could be heard coming towards them. Yumi look up and saw the ambulance and a police car heading towards them.
Yumi put the phone to her ear and said, "They're here. Thank you."
"You're welcome." the woman said, ending the call.
Yumi got up as the ambulance stopped. Things flew by as they got Ulrich onto a strecher while the cops called the crime lab just to make sure that it was how Yumi said and worked on getting the killer into a body bag.
Yumi got into the ambulance and as they drove to the hospital, a medic worked on stopping the blood coming out of her shoulder.
Before she really knew what was going on, she found herself being checked out by a doctor who was taking off her shirt. She heard that Ulrich was in surgery to take out the six bullets, and before she knew it, she was out with an anastetic.
Chapter 6
Yumi opened her eyes and found that she had been put in a room in the hospital. Next to her, on a sepparet bed, was Ulrich.
"Ulrich, I don't know if you can hear me, but please, pull through." Yumi said.
The door opened and the doctor, the one that had seen to her in the ER, came in.
"Ah, so, you're awake." the doctor said as he walked over to the side of Yumi's bed that was closest to the windows.
"How's Ulrich?" Yumi asked, looking up at the man.
"He'll pull through." the doctor said, smiling. "How about you? How's you're shoulder?"
"It still hurts." Yumi said, her hand going to the shoulder.
"On a scall of 1-10, 1 being around no pain at all and 10 being screaming pain, what would you say it is?"
"About a five." Yumi said.
"That's good." the doctor said, smiling at her. "I've called your parents, and his." he pointed to Ulrich. "Your's are already here. If you want, I can call them in."
"Would Ulrich wake up?" Yumi asked, worryed about him.
"I dought it." the doctor said. "He'll probably be out for a day or two, recovering."
"Than, ok." Yumi said, nodding her head.
The doctor walked out of the room and sent in Yumi's family.
"Oh, Yumi, are you ok?" Mrs. Ishiyama asked as she rushed over to Yumi's side.
"I'm fine." Yumi said, smiling at her mother as the woman hugged her. She looked at her father and brother before asking, "Could you tell my friends what happened to us?"
"Sure sis." Hiroki said, leaning on her bed.
"What happened?" Mr. Ishiyama asked, sticking his hands in his pockets.
"After the movie, we were heading home and some random man started to shoot at Ulrich." Yumi said. "I don't really remember much, but I know I killed the man back. Do you know what his name was?"
"They won't tell us in till the police find his family." Mrs. Ishiyama said.
The EKG on Ulrich started to beat faster and faster, getting everyone's attention. In no time at all, three people in white lab coats rushed in to see what happened.
Yumi watched as they put a needle into the tube in his arm and gave him a shot of something. Ulrich's heart calmed down to how it was before.
"Is he alright?" Mr. Ishiyama asked as the three were about to leave.
"He was having a reaction to the moraphean we gave him for the pain. Hopefully, he'll be alright now." the doctor explained before turning around and leaving the room.
I hope he'll pull through. Yumi thought, looking at Ulrich's sleeping body.
"Don't worry Sis." Hiroki said, as if reading her mind. "Ulrich'll be alright."
Yumi looked at her little brother and smiled. "Thanks."
"Well, I guess we should leave you to get some sleep." Mr. Ishiyama said.
Yumi yawnd as if in aggrement. The three said their good byes and left the room.
Chapter 7
"Mr. Ishiyama, do you know where your sister is?" Delmas asked almost as soon as Hiroki stepped one foot into the school's campus. "Or where Ulrich Stern is?"
"Oh, I have a paper for both of them from the doctor." Hiroki said, droping his bag and opening it. "They're in the hospital."
"Hospital?!" Jim asked, stopping next to Delmas. "What happened?"
Hiroki pulled out the papers and handed them to Delmas as he said, "They were shot at after a date."
"Are they ok?" Delmas asked, skiming the papers.
"Acording to the doc." Hiroki said as he put his book bag back on. "Now, if you'll please exsue me, I've got to find their friends. I promised Yumi I'd tell them."
"Of course, they're over by the vending machines I think." Delmas said. "Thank you."
Hiroki waved as he headed over to Odd, Jeremie, and Aelita.
"Hiroki, you have any idea what happened with Ulrich and Yumi?" Odd asked as soon as the boy was in ear shot.
"They're in the hospital." Hiroki said, walking up to standing next to Odd. "Some man attacked them. They're ok, but they're still in the hospital."
"Are they awake?" Aelita asked.
"Yumi was when we were there yesterday." Hiroki said, worry on his face, "But Ulrich was still out and he had some type of reaction to the stuff they gave him."
"What about the person who attacked them?" Jeremie asked.
"Yumi killed him." Hiroki said.
"That's our Yumi." Odd said, smiling. He looked at Hiroki and asked, "Is there any chance we could go and see them this afternoon?"
"Probably." Hiroki said, shrugging. "I don't know if Ulrich will've woken up yet."
"Thanks Hiroki." Aelita said, smiling at him.
Chapter 8
"Hello, can we come in?" Aelita asked, knocking on the door.
"Ya." Yumi's voice said.
Aelita opened the door, walking in with Jeremie and Odd behind her. In the two guy's hands were two buquettes of flowers.
"Hi guys." Yumi said, sitting down the magaznine she had been reading, favering her left arm.
"How are you doing?" Jeremie asked as he put his buquette of flowers on the table between her and Ulrich.
"I'm fine."Yumi said. "It's Ulrich I'm worried about."
"He'll pull through." Odd said, sitting his flowers on the table on Yumi's right side, close to the window. "He's got to kiss you, remember."
Yumi looked down at her hands in her lap, her smile disapearing.
"Are you ok?" Odd asked, worried he said something he shouldn't have.
"The last thing Ulrich said was that he loved me." Yumi said, still looking down. "I don't even know if he heard me tell him I love him."
"He heard you." Aelita said. "Trust me."
Yumi looked up and smiled at her.
"Has Ulrich's parents goten here yet?" Jeremie asked, looking over at the boy who was facing upwards, asleep.
"Ya, they've come and his father already started to blame me." Yumi said, shaking her head.
"What do you mean?"Odd asked, sitting down on the AC that was under the window.
"They're blaming me because he was the one shot first." Yumi said.
"But you're the one that saved him from anymore damage." Jeremie said.
"They don't seem to know that, and I'm not going to tell them."
"You're too modest." Odd said, smiling. "You should get a mettle."
"But I didn't protect him. It was rage. I only shot the guy because he started to shoot Ulrich." Yumi admited.
An alarm on Ulrich's equipment got everyone's attention. Yumi reached down and pushed a button on her bed to get attention to their room to help Ulrich.
The door burst open with doctors, all rushing over to Ulrich.
"He's not stabalizing." a female voice said, worrying the friends as they got as far away as posible to stay out of the way.
"His heart rate is slowing. We need adrenalen!" a male voice said.
A doctor picked up a surege and shot it through the cord that went into his elbow.
His EKG started to beet faster, as if it was working at getting his heart to beat faster, only for it to flatline.
"Give me the pads." the doctor ordered, ripping open Ulrich's robe to show his chest.
The man took the fibulaters.
"No." Yumi gasped as she watched them send electricity through-out Ulrich's body to try to get it working again.
"I need more." the dorctor ordered the man working the controls.
They shot him again, making his body jump off the bed, but no responce on the EKG.
"Again!" the doctor ordered, shooting him again, only with the same responce.
"I'm sorry doctor." a female said, dropping her meter back on Ulrich's bed.
"No!" Yumi cried, seeing that Ulrich was dead. "He can't be dead!"
Yumi threw the blankets off and jumped out of her bed, ripping out her cords from the conections in her arms. She moved the doctors out of the way and hugged Ulrich's body, tears going down her cheeks. "Ulrich, you can't die! I need you! The world needs you!"
A beep started to get their attention, seeing that Ulrich's heart was puming blood again.
"I don't believe it." a man said, putting a hand on his head.
"They always say true love's more powerful than death, I've just never seen it happen." a female voice said.
Yumi looked up at Ulrich's face as saw that his eyes were trying to open, but he was too weak.
Yumi laid Ulrich back down so that he was laying in his bed, tears still going down her cheeks.
"Come here, please." the head doctor said to Yumi.
Yumi stood up straight, her left arm starting to hurt her again. She walked over to the wall where the man was standing as the rest of the doctors left.
"I have to admit, I've never seen that happen." the old man said, looking at Yumi as the last doctor left. "Is your arm hurting again?"
"Yes." Yumi admited.
"Come on, back to bed so I can reatach your cords. Than I want to look at the stitches. I think you might have torn them." The man said, smiling at her.
"You want us to skat?" Odd asked, throwing his thumb towards the door.
"Just while he checks my shoulder." Yumi said, smiling at her friends. "Thanks."
"Of course, Yumi." Aelita said as the three walked out, shutting the door behind them.
"I'm going to get myself a cocoa." Jeremie said as the three of them started to walk towards the machines.
"I'm just glad that Yumi's finally able to tell Ulrich what she thinks about him." Aelita said. "Just why did it have to take this?"
"I wonder if Lyoko's given him more strainght." Odd said as Jeremie put a euro in the machine.
"I just wish that Xana would attack." Aelita said.
Jeremie and Odd looked at her, both raising an eyebrowl.
"I mean, so we can turn back time and prevent all of this from happening." Aelita explained.
"Why don't we?" Odd asked.
"Huh?" Jeremie asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"Let's go and set up a return to the past." Odd said. "That way, Ulrich won't have the risk of dying."
"But, that'll just give Xana more power." Jeremie said.
"I know, I know." Odd said, shaking his head. "But I don't want to lose Ulrich, or Yumi. You both know that if we lose Ulrich, Yumi will be lost too."
Jeremie looked down at his drink, thinking.
"How about we talk about this to Yumi and vote." Aelita offered, seeing Jeremie was fighting inside his head.
"Alright. There's that doctor. Yumi should be ready." Jeremie said, looking up.
The headed back to the room Ulrich and Yumi were sharing. Jeremie droped his cup in the trash can as he walked pass.
"Yumi, you desent?" Odd asked, knocking on the door.
"Ha ha, ya, you can come in." Yumi's voice said.
They walked in as she was putting her robe back over her shoulder. She sat down on the bed and smiled at them.
"How's your shoulder?" Aelita asked.
"The stitches are fine." Yumi said.
"We've got an idea and desided that we were going to vote, but we want your vote in the pole too." Jeremie said, explaining.
"Ok, what is it?" Yumi asked.
"Set up a return trip." Odd said. "Yes, it will give Xana more power, but it will save Ulrich as well. And you."
"Have you already voted yourselves?" Yumi asked.
"It's one yes, one no, and one undesided." Aelita said. "You're the tie braker."
"Than do it." Yumi said. "I don't want to lose him."
"Alright, I'll go to the factory and do it." Jeremie said, grabbing his computer bag that he had left in her room.
Jeremie typed in the comands, not sure about what he was doing, but understood why everyone else had said yes.
"Return to the past, now." Jeremie said, pushing enter.
The white light came up from the holospear, covering the earth and returning the time to yesterday.
Chapter 9
"I think Mr. Chardon is getting weirder and weirder as the days go on." Jeremie said as he sat down on the bench, next to Aelita.
"And the repeats?" Odd asked, smiling.
