"here you go," said the first cashier.
The one w/ the brown hair. Her nametag read 'laura'. she slid a brown paper bag toward me. I knew inside the bag was a bagel and the pastry. I took it and put it in my purse. She handed me the beverages.
"thank you. Um. Wheres…shelly?" I asked confused.
"whos shelly?" she asked.
"the cashier. She was just here."
"sorry miss I don't know anyone by that name."
"but she was right…"
"sorry."
I took the drinks and walked outside where it was once again sunny. I found kate sitting on an uncomfortable metal chair by a round metal table. I sat on a chair next to her.
"thanks," she said taking her drink and bagel.
"sure."
"so I guess she left," kate said referring to shelly.
"yeah when I asked the cashier the first cashier-"
Kate nodded; "mmmhmm."
"she said she didn't know anyone by that name."
"that was so weird."
"I know."
