'Pull me up, and I'll be forever in your debt!'

I slammed my hand down on that Arceus damned alarm clock. I wish I didn't have to go to work today but I had to. Ania had pissed me the hell off enough last night and I knew she'd do it again today, but screw it, had to go in.

I got up from my bed, avoided Misdreavus, who was still sleeping and headed into the bathroom. I turned the radio on, hearing the newest song "This is The Life" by &Abide.

I rolled my eyes, they weren't even a large band but heck, they were pretty good. I turned the radio off, not really in the mood for them at the moment. I quickly had a shower, got out and did my morning routine.

When I exited the bedroom, Misdreavus was awake and ready to go. We had breakfast, I grabbed my bag and we set off to the Pokémon Centre.

I smiled as the morning wind blew through my hair, Misdreavus floated along side of me as we walked towards the centre.

As we walked, I was watching Misdreavus do little flips in the air and accidentally bumped into someone. I grunted as I collided with the ground, hissing as I rubbed my sore ass.

I looked up to see the figure in all black; I glared lightly, reading myself for anything he/she would throw at me.

"Sorry, are you alright?" they asked as they knelt down next to me, brown hair and matching eyes, Ben. I gulped slightly.

"I'm fine, thanks," I replied as he held his hand out to me. I hesitated to take it.

"I won't bite," Ben joked as I finally took his hand; Misdreavus looked at me funny before resting on my shoulder. "Your Misdreavus reminds me of an old friend," he stated with a sad smile. I looked at him, my face void of emotion. He sighed.

"What happened to her?" I asked, wondering what they thought had happened.

"We…. Don't really know, she just up and left one day…. I really just wish she'd come back…." He replied as he looked at the sky. I frowned slightly, guess Ania was right.

I nodded my head lightly as I tried to walk around Ben, but he stepped in my way. I looked up at him, my bangs falling into my eyes slightly.

"So you're working today?" Ben asked me with a small sile, I nodded my head. "Sorry I wasn't very talkative yesterday, I find it kind of hard now to talk to people now that Summer's left…." He muttered as he looked at me with sad eyes. I smiled slightly up at him.

"No worries, quite a few people come to our Centre and don't talk much; it's why we always have the music playing. But I really should be on my way, if you're gonna head back you're free to walk with us, if not I'll see you later," I smiled as I quickly walked away from Ben, who walked in the opposite direction.

I entered the centre a few moments later. I sighed as I looked at the people already here Joy was in the back and someone was waiting to be served at the desk.

"Winter, you're late!" Joy called from the back; I rolled my eyes slightly as I quickly walked behind the counter.

"Sorry, how can I help you today?" I asked as I put my bag under the desk and looked at the man stood in front of me. He was ages around 22 with black hair and purple eyes.

He looked quite formal, like a business man in his suit, trousers and black shoes, but in a way it was a little creepy, he was in all black.

"Erm, how can I help you sir?" I asked as I smiled politely at him. He looked me up and down before smiling kindly and handing me a rose.

"Good day, young lady, I was wondering if you would help my beloved Pokémon, Gengar, Magnezone and Raichu. I'm afraid they were slightly injured in battle with a trainer," the man answered as he also handed me his poke balls.

"Of course, it'll be a few moments until they're healed, please have a seat Mr…." I trailed off not knowing his name.

"Black," the man informed me.

"Mr Black, and I shall get your Pokémon to you as soon as they're healed. We're serving breakfast in the other room if you would like some, free of charge," I smiled as he nodded his head.

"Thank you, young lady," he smiled a charming smile at me before walking off.

I breathed slightly as I took the Pokémon into Mr Black had given me into another room. He was a very attractive man but way too old for me.

Looking around the room I noticed Kate was sitting with her Pokémon, smiling and laughing, Keith was feeding his, but Ania was nowhere in sight and Ben still hadn't come back.

"Oh, good morning, Winter," Kate smiled as she looked at me, I smiled back at her.

"Good morning, Kate, Keith, Ania, how are you all today?" I asked.

"Great," Keith answered for everyone.

"Sleep well?" I asked.

"As well as we do in the Union," Ania replied as she began to feed her Pokémon.

"That's good," I answered as I walked over to the healing machine and placed the poke balls on it. "We're serving free breakfast in the next room if you want something to eat," I stated as I set the machine going.

"Cool, food," Kate smiled.

"Hey, anyone seen Ben?" Keith asked.

"He was walking around town the last time I saw him, he kind of knocked me onto the ground by accident," I laughed slightly as I began digging out a few potions to help with the Pokémon's wounds.

"Oh, well, he'll be back soon. Come on, let's get some breakfast," Kate suggested as they began walking out the room.

"Oh, Winter," I looked up at Ania's voice. "Did Ben say anything to you?" She asked, I turned away from her.

"Nothing interesting," I answered as I took the Pokémon from the machine, when I looked up she had gone. I sighed, I hate being questioned. Nevertheless I continued with helping heal the Pokémon.

"Everything's in place," with that, Mr Black ended his phone call just as the Rangers walked in. He watched them walk to a table and start eating.

Black sighed as he looked at the three rangers, one was missing, he wondered where the other one was.

Winter walked in with the poke balls in her hand. She handed them to Black who smiled at her before standing to his feet, just as he did a large explosion was heard from outside.

The Rangers stood to their feet quickly as they began rushing towards the door. Nurse Joy stood at the front of the centre already, looking horrified. Winter gasped as she saw the shopping centre up in flames.

"Let's go!" Kate ordered as she, Ania and Keith began running towards the direction of the flames. Winter followed behind with Black and Misdreavus as they all rushed towards the shopping centre.

Ben stood with Blastoise trying his hardest to put the flames out, but it wasn't helping anything. Trainers pulled their water types out and began helping with different types of moves.

Kate, Keith and Ania took their stylers from their pockets and caught some nearby water Pokémon, trying to help put the flames out. Winter looked inside the building; people were trapped inside, waving their arms about for help.

"Misdreavus, use psychic!" she ordered, Misdreavus complied and began lifting people out from the windows with its psychic.

In all the commotion, Black snuck off somewhere else. He walked through some nearby bushes and disappeared by the trees.

"I didn't expect it to go off so early," he stated as he looked at a figure hidden in the shadows.

"Well, what can I say? I enjoy seeing people…. In a panicked state," the figure was female; anyone could tell by the voice, it droned the words out as a smirk etched onto its face.

"Yes…. Panicked," Black repeated as he looked back at the smoke rising high above the trees.

"How many Rangers?" the figure asked.

"From what I could see, four, another one was stood putting the flames out when we arrived," Black asked.

"And what should I do to them?" the figure asked.

"Kill them," Black replied in a slow, evil voice. "But…. Keep your eye on that Winter girl, there's something different about her as well," he added.

"And how long are you going to keep up the fake 'good guy' act?"

"As long as I need to."

With that, the figure and Black walked deep into the forest, ignoring the smoke, fire and screams behind them.

Back at the Ranger Union, Isaac was doing research on Team Black while Rythmi was talking to Erma and Hastings.

"You saw nothing in the woods?" Erma asked.

"We flew over, literally we saw nothing, they were either very good at hiding or just weren't in the woods," Rythmi answered.

"Is it possible they knew we were coming to the Region, Professor?" Erma asked Hastings, who shook his head.

"Impossible, there was no one I told, there would have been no way they could have known unless we have a rat in the Union," he answered.

"Which is very unlikely, considering everyone here is a family and no one's joined for ages now," Isaac stated from his seat at the computer.

"What are you doing, Dear?" Erma asked as she, Hastings and Rythmi walked up behind him.

"There was something interesting in the woods, a large dark part that seemed to have no sun and was protected by trees. I took a photo and I'm trying to analyse it to see what it could be," Isaac answered, Rythmi thought for a second then something hit her.

"There were figures in trees as we passed that. We couldn't see them but they were there, just hiding in the shadows, the only thing that was really noticeable were the eyes they had, they weren't exactly bright, but they weren't really dark either. They were noticeable," she stated as she looked at Hastings who looked at the photo, he frowned.

"Zoom in on the dark spot in that tree," Hastings ordered. Isaac did as told, once he zoomed in enough the four realised it was a pair of bright blue eyes.

"I don't think anyone was alerted," Hastings stated. "I think they realised who we were when we sent you two over the forest to see if you can get information," he explained.

"That was a mistake we won't make again," Erma added as she looked at the picture.

"Professor, Erma, quick, come look at the news," Linda said as she came rushing over towards the group of four. They rushed over to where the Operators work quickly to see a woman on screen with dark hair and eyes talking about the explosion of the shopping centre in Fuchsia City.

On screen were Kate, Keith, Ania and Ben using water types to try and put the fire out, the photo then changed to show Winter and Misdreavus helping people out of the building and making sure they were alright.

"Professor, Erma, what do we do?" Rythmi asked in a shocked state.

"We contact Kate and the others, make sure they're alright and we tell them to keep their eyes open. Team Dark know there are Rangers there and from the reports they'll know who the Rangers are. This team is smart, not like the others, they're going to need to be on their highest alert for this from now on," Hastings answered as he looked around the room full of shocked people.

Team Black were clever, and they needed to be defeated soon. But Hastings pondered on if he had made the right choice choosing Kate, Keith, Ben and Ania for the job. They were experience, but could they handle this team? Only time would tell.
