Hello everyone, here's chapter 3. I know it might shock some of you that I'm getting the chapter done so quickly but it does occasionally happen when I'm on a real role and can get the chapter written and posted, the best I have ever done is four chapter within a week though today has certainly beat it. Three chapters in one day that's a new record for me. I would have had this chapter 3 up sooner but I had to hand write it.

I, for some strange reason, as of recently, haven't been able to write anything on my computer that I've at least hand written first. Its rather annoying. This chapter is only 3 hand written pages long but I'm planning to add to this chapter and flesh it out more now that I've started to copy it onto my computer as my legs were starting to get very sore from sitting cross legged for the better part of 4hrs and 57 minutes.

I usually write while I'm in bed. If its hand writing I usually rest the notebook on a hardbacked book onto/in between my crossed legs leaning against a travel pillow. My legs usually start to cramp after about 2- 2.5 hours though I'm not really sure. It usually results in my thighs, knees and calf's being very stiff and sore when I do eventually get up and makes walking rather painful.

Ages:

Atem – 38 Akefia – 35

Star – 32 Marik - 20

Bakura – 23 Yami – 26

Atem is 15 years older than Bakura, 18 years older than Marik and 12 years older than Yami. Akefia is 14 years older than Marik, 11 years older than Bakura and 9 years older than Yami. Star is 12 years older than Marik, 9 years older than Bakura and 6 year older than Yami.

"Yugi what happened? Where did you get those lash marks?" Malik questioned pulling Yugi's shirt off revealing Yugi's shredded, bloody back. Tea and Ishizu covered their mouths and looked away, horrified while Joey and Tristan looked like they wanted to throw up. Bakura looked between his arm and Yugi's shredded bloodied back which despite looking like it had been attacked by a cheese grater the cuts were only on the surface and didn't go very deep meaning there was minimal scaring.

Malik looked at Yugi's back before looking down at the bowl and placing it on the table, he looked down when his fingers brushed against the Millennium Rod. How on earth had it gotten on the table. It had been in the bag. On the floor. By the hallway door. He stared the Millennium when it started to glow wondering what was going on before remembering Bakura had told him the 'Marik' he delt with during Battle City wasn't actually the Spirit of the Millennium Rod, but his insane alter ego created as a result of the 'Tomb Keeper's Ritual' which had apparently been banned by Atem 5,000 years ago.

Malik was more than a little amused when Marik appeared on the kitchen reading a book and didn't appear to realise he had appeared on the kitchen table until Ryou tackled him, sending the both of them to the ground, he had to stop himself laughing as the two of them rolled a around for a few seconds before Ryou come out on top, a satisfied smile on his face. Marik looked more than a little irritated but Malik could see the corner of his lip twitching.

He pushed Ryou off him and picked up his book. He froze when he saw Yugi's back, all the colour draining from his face as he leaned against the table, his hands were shaking not that Malik blamed him. It was a horrific. Why would anyone want to do something like that? Malik had gathered from his talk with Bakura, he had been good friends with Marik and Yami. It had confused him at first. Why would he want to kill his best friend?

Flash Back

"If he's your friend then why do you want to kill him?" Malik asked more than a little confused. Bakura stared, momentarily shocked speechless, before remembering Zorc had made them think he wanted to kill Yami. Zorc may have wanted to do that much he would never hurt his friend. Sure, he might threaten to kill Yami, but he would never do it.

"That was Zorc, he wanted to kill Yami. I on the other hand don't. When I say 'I'm going to kill you' I'm only joking, it's more of an inside joke than anything else. We were messing around one days I joked with Marik that I would 'kill' him when he became Pharaoh, even though I would never do such a thing," Bakura replied Malik stared at him wondering why Bakura was call him Yami when his name was Atem.

He guessed he did it out of habit.

End of Flash Back

"I had a dream about helping Kia escape the guards who were patrolling just after sunset. I was dressed as a servant and didn't have the bracelet you gave me on, when they caught me they gave me 90 lashes, threw hot salt water on me and branded my stomach for the last two weeks," Yugi explained, he was a lot more coherent now, the cold cloth was pressed against his stomach, likely to take some of the heat out of mark.

"I remember that day. Star was livid when he found out what they had done. He informed them of exactly who they had attacked. They proceeded to argue, saying the Prince had been at the court. Star told them Prince Atem had a little brother. They didn't survive long enough to tell anyone," Marik answered, his voice shaking. Akefia told Joey, Tristan, Tea, Duke, Mokuba, Kaiba, Solomon, Ishizu and Rebecca what Marik said as they couldn't see or hear him.

Akefia quickly explain Star was Marik big brother and the Captain of the Guard.

"The fact Atem has a younger brother who despite being 12 years younger than him looks like his twin, the only difference being Atem has reddish purple eyes and hair, slightly darker skin and deeper voice while Yami has purple eyes and hair," Akefia explained, Joey, Tristan, Tea, Duke, Mokuba, Kaiba, Solomon, Ishizu and Rebecca stared at him before looking at Yugi and realizing the reason Bakura kept calling him 'Yami' was because that wasn't his name but the name of his brother.

"Is that why you kept calling him Yami even though the rest of us called him Atem?" Mokuba asked, Bakura nodded, he knew Joey, Tristan, Tea, Duke, Mokuba, Kaiba, Solomon, Ishizu and Rebecca had been shocked at how close he was with Yami despite the fact they were meant to be enemies, they were acting very much like friends who hadn't seen each other in a very long time and had a lot of catching up to do.

Flash Back - Two Weeks Ago

Yugi groaned as he woke up, it felt like he had been trampled by horse. I pushed himself and looked up and saw his friends were wake up. Tristan and Joey were complaining about how sore they were while Tea was complaining about needing a shower as she was covered in mud before realizing that wasn't the case anymore before breaking up Joey Tristan argument about who took out the most enemies.

"...do you mean? If that was Zorc then where were you?" Yugi was more than a little surprised to see Ryou leaning against the wall next to the stairs leading up to the surface talking to someone. Yugi rubbed his eyes and couldn't help but stare when he realised Ryou was talking to Bakura. he was more than a little confused when he saw Atem tackle Bakura to the ground. He yelped and as they started to wrestle.

Ryou blinked before looking up at Yugi clearly just as confused as Yugi was an more than a little shocked as it was obvious the two were just play fighting, it was strange to think that considering Bakura had been trying to kill Atem not to long ago. Yugi somehow knew they hadn't actually been dealing with the Spirit of the Millennium Ring but something else.

"I take it you were successful," Ryou asked Yugi nodded and pulled Ryou his feet with surprising ease, most people were shocked when they found out how strong he was despite his size. He always found that more than a little amusing. Just because he was short didn't mean he wasn't strong. Ryou stumbled a little but managed to stay on his feet and not bring Yugi down with him. They both turned to watch the two Spirits rolling around on the fire.

"That's enough, I thought you would have changed but apparently not. Congratulations on getting your memory back Pharaoh," a deep familiar voice, Yugi and Ryou shared a shocked look as...Marik appeared and pulled Atem and Bakura apart with practised, ease this clearly not being the first time he had done something like this. He glared Atem and Bakura who just grinned. Even though he was trying to be stern Yugi could tell he was trying to stop himself from smiling.

"We were. Who are you?" Yugi replied staring at Marik, there as something different about him, he didn't seem insane nor did he make the hairs on the back of Yugi's neck stand on end. Marik turned and grinned at him before starting to laugh when he saw the confused looks Joey, Tristan and Tea's faces. They were clearly wondering what was going on.

"I'm the Spirit of the Millennium Rod, the person...er Spirit you met during Battle City was a result of the Tomb Keeper's 'Ritual'. 'Yami Bakura' was actually Zorc while Bakura was trapped inside the Ring. You might want to let them out for a bit" Marik explained rolled his eyes when Atem and Bakura started to push and shove each other behind his back.

Yugi and Bakura shared a look before shrugging, it couldn't hurt to let Bakura and Atem out for a little as they weren't going to kill each other. Tea, Tristan and Joey shared a confused and alarmed look when the Millennium Puzzle and Ring started to glow revealing Atem and Bakura who was tackled to the ground. Tea watched on in shock as the two former enemies wrestled on the floor before Atem come out on top.

"You win this time Yami, you won't win next time," Bakura snapped though Tea got the impression he wasn't as annoyed as he seemed as the corner of his lips were starting to turn up even as he pursed them, it last until Atem pocked him, he started laughing. Yugi couldn't help but laugh at the look on his friends faces at their reaction.

Tea, Tristan and Joey shared a freaked out look as they watched Atem and Bakura chatting in Ancient Egyptian like they were the best of friends who hadn't seen or spoken to each other in a very long time. It was more than a little scary to be honest. Bakura had his arm slung over Atem's shoulder while Atem's arm was wrapped around Bakura's waist.

The scariest thing was that Bakura seemed comfortable with Bakura like this was something they did all the time or used to do all the time which didn't make any sense whatsoever. Tea figured Atem and Bakura were talking to Ryou, Yugi and someone else given they would stop talking and then reply to something when either had said anything, she, not for the first time found it incredibly annoying to only be hearing half the conversation.

End Flashback

"Indeed it was. Atem having a brother was the palaces best kept secret. Only a handful of people knew. Isis, Star, Akefia and me were the only who knew guaranteed I didn't know my best friend was even the Prince of Egypt until I was 22, a year before he locked himself in the puzzle. He was 25 at the time, having become Pharaoh when he was 17," Bakura answered shaking his head.

He still marvelled at just how much Atem let him get away with even though he was only 9 years younger then him. Atem was more than happy to sit and listen to him complaining about the different problems they had to deal with and then a few days latera new law was passed. He had likely never questioned how it happened as he had been told soon after meeting Yami when he was 3 years old that he and his brother lived in the Palace as Servants. Marik had been around 9 months old at the time.

It had been his and Yami's responsibility to look after him.

"The day Yami was attacked, he was in town getting Atem a birthday present as I later found out from Atem. It was also the reason I was in the market that day," Akefia added as he gently cleaned Yugi's back with warm soapy water. The lashes weren't as deep as he remembered, maybe it was because of how young Yami had been at the time. Most people found it hard to believe Star was the Captain of Guard despite only being 14 when he got the position. He had a very good eye for tactics and strategy.

"Why would you get a gift for the Prince of Egypt when you're the thief king and are at some point going to kill him?" Tea question looking down at her nails longing looking up when she heard Yugi's bitten off scream did she look up. A cold shiver of fear ran down her spine at the look she was getting form Bakura's big brother, he was looking at her like she was a bug and was trying to decide whether or not he should squish her.

"Atem is my best friend, I wouldn't be alive if I didn't know him. I knew he had a little brother, he'd told me about Yami every chance he got but I hadn't gotten the chance to meet him until about four or five months later, Yami didn't know I was the Thief King as when I met him I wasn't dressed as the Thief King," Akefia snapped as he glared at her. Tea got the impression he didn't like her very much.

He was clearly very protective of Atem and Yugi and so help anyone who thought it would be a good idea to hurt them.

"What happened after you woke up in the palace. When did you officially meet Akefia?"

Atem didn't become Pharaoh in this story until he was 17 which means Yami was only five years old. In cannon he's 15 when he becomes Pharaoh. If I went with that age it would mean Yami would have been 3. /Characters/YuGiOhAncientEgypt
