Summer Flies By
Spring had come and gone, it felt like Veronica had graduated from University a year ago and not just a couple months ago. Even still Veronica was so busy working with her dad that she'd barely had any down time, not to mention she was planning a wedding. The cases were piling up and all she wanted to do was go home and see her fiance. Veronica couldn't even remember the last night she'd spent more than twenty minutes with Eli that didn't involve passing out. Which was also stressing her out, she missed her fiance. "Daaaad!" Veronica called out from her spot at the 'reception' desk, his office door was open and she knew he could hear her without her shouting.
"Yes, my lovely daughter?" Keith asked as he came out of his office to stand in the doorway. "What has you bellowing my name?"
"I'm tired, I miss my fiance and neither of us have left this place in two days. I'm going home and just thought you should know." She was already grabbing her things as she complained. Keith nodded his head. "Probably a good idea honey, take a couple days off...you're supposed to be planning your wedding and all you've been doing is working cases for me."
He wasn't wrong, that was literally all she'd been doing. "I know, I know and there's a lot of things left to do and only a couple months left to do it. October was going to be there before she knew it. Slipping her bag onto her shoulder she headed for the door as she tried to remember Eli's schedule. It wasn't even three yet, so he'd be at the shop but she could go home and surprise him with dinner.
Which was exactly what Veronica did, going home she quickly took the dog out before pulling out something she could make them for dinner as she waited for it to defrost she showered. By six she had spaghetti and garlic toast prepared and waiting for her man.
Twenty minutes went by before the sound of keys had Back Up looking up from his bed, tail wagging as he door opened, Eli walked into the house expecting it to be empty like it had for the last two nights instead he found it filled with the smell of food and the lights on in the kitchen. "V?" He called out confusion in his tone simply because he hadn't expected her to be home. When they'd talked the night before she'd said they still hadn't wrapped up the case.
"In the kitchen babe." Veronica called out, she was just setting a plate of food on the table when he walked in. "What's all this?" He questioned, not that he wasn't happy to see her. Eli was more than happy to see her. "I'm taking a couple days off and thought I'd start it by making us dinner."
Walking towards her, Eli reached out and pulled her against him. "You just made my night." He'd missed her, he always missed her when she was working a case but this...this meant he had a couple days to just soak up her company. "I'll call Paulo, tell him I need him to man the shop tomorrow so we can just...stay in bed all day."
Eli wasn't just thinking sex either, he really just wanted to hold her. "You don't have to do that Eli." Veronica protested knowing how rare it was for him to take time off from the shop. "Oh I know I don't have too. But mama it's been like two weeks since we've shared a bed and I plan to take full advantage of you having the next couple of days off." He muttered nuzzling into her throat. "Right after we eat dinner, I'm going to call him." And if he couldn't do it then he'd call Hector, or fuck he'd just close the damn shop for the day.
There was no more protesting from Veronica, she was happy that they were going to be spending time together. "Alright, let's eat before it gets cold." Pressing a kiss to his lips she stepped back and took a seat at the table allowing silence to fall between them as they ate. It was comfortable, relaxing. "So how was your day?" She asked finally when their meal was almost finished.
"It was good, Paulo and Marco got their suits today and Hector went for his last fitting. I also talked to Wallace and he said his suit is ready." Veronica nodded her head, her last dress fitting was the day after tomorrow and she knew Mac, Leah and Emilie had their dresses ready for the wedding. "It's so close to the wedding now and we still have so much left to do." But she was happy the boys were basically done. "The girls have their dresses and I have my final fitting the day after tomorrow at four." She murmured finishing up her meal.
Eli grinned as they talked about the wedding, it was close. Soon he was going to be marrying Veronica Mars, the reality of it still seemed to surprise. If you'd asked Eli in high school who he was going to marry he would have laughed in your face and said no one. And now...well now he was marrying the only person who could not only keep up with him but put him in his place.
Getting up he gathered the dishes bringing them to the sink so he could wash them. "What are you doing?" Veronica asked, getting up to wrap her arms around him. Sighing as she pressed her front into his back she simply stood there holding him for a moment. "I've missed you, calling you at night just isn't the same as getting to do this."
Eli had to agree, while he still loved their late night calls it wasn't the same. "The dishes, you cooked." He pointed out with a grin. "I've missed you too." Veronica wrinkled her nose. "Do them later, I'm needy and want your attention." Laughter rumbled out of Eli as he turned around and stole a kiss. "Can't have that." He stated as he allowed her to lead him to the bedroom, dishes could wait. Tonight he was going to remind his woman how much he loved her.
A/N: After an overwhelming amount of requests for me to finish this I figured I'd try. I work full time now and don't have a lot of time. And this probably sucks because I had to re-read both stories to remember what had happened and where I left off. I apologize if it's not what you want but hopefully the next chapter will be better. Thank you for the continued support even though I've been MIA for like 2 years.
