I don't own twilight

"Cullen."

Edward looked up at his name being called and slowly stood up placing the book he'd been reading down he made his way towards the mail bag, he suspected it was another care package from his mother. He took the thin letter with surprise he read the return address and seeing Isabella Swan Forks Washington stamped on it he figured it was the pen pal letter. Taking it back to his bed he opened it. Shaking the letter out he started to read the cursive writing that swirled over the page.

Edward

Your sister is an annoying pixie also known as my best friend.

Edward's eyes widened, Alice's best friend he racked his brain had Alice mentioned anyone named Isabella. He didn't think so he'd have to send his sister a letter also.

She's sneaky she's devious

Yup that sounded like his sister, Edward chuckled.

and she stole my letters for my students hiding yours so only I would find it and after all the students were gone.

"Alice" Edward growled what did she think she was doing trying to play match maker.

So I'm writing to you. Sorry to disappoint I'm not a high school student.

Actually he was happy about that he was kind of dreading writing to a high school student. Maybe he could actually have a good conversation with someone around his own age.

I live in Forks with my father for the moment but will be getting a house with Alice soon. "Pray for me.

He certainly would be living with Alice could be far from pleasant.

Oh yeah my name is Isabella Swan I'm a high school teacher and I go by Bella.

"Bella." He said his name feeling it on his lips. He folded the letter and slipped it back into the envelope. He took a blank sheet of paper out and started to write.

Bella

I'm praying for you living with Alice can turn into a living hell. Just kidding but it does have it's unpleasant moments. I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm sorry to say that I don't believe that Alice has ever mentioned you but believe me I'm not disappointed that you're not a high school student. Now I won't have to hear about home coming dates or issues with teenage girls. My life has been ok and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Edward.

He slide the letter into an envelope and then picked up another sheet of paper.

Alice

My dear annoying sister, Stop trying to set me up. I'm over an ocean and you're still being an interfering pixie. Stop or I'll tell Jasper all your embarrassing secrets. Don't think I don't know you have a crush on my best friend Mary Alice Cullen.

Edward

He slipped that one into a separate envelope and addressed it then he put them in the mail bag. "So who sent you a letter?" Sargent Jasper Whitlock asked coming over too Edward and tossed him the football he'd been holding. With quick reflexes Edward caught it.

"Forks Pen Pal program Alice suckered me into."

"I see." Jasper nodded. Edward and Jasper had met in High school and enlisted after high school graduation they'd been through hell and back together but Edward knew he couldn't have done any of it without his best friend. "Who was the other letter too?" Jasper pointed to the second letter.

"Alice interfering little pixie." Edward grumbled.

"What did she do?"

"She made sure her friend who happens to be the teacher misplaced my letter so that Miss Isabella Swan would have to write to me instead of a student.

"Sounds like Alice." Jasper snorted. "Wait did you say Bella?"

"Yeah." Edward nodded.

"I think I remember Alice mention her.

"Since when have you been talking to Alice?"

"She always writes." Jaspers said.

"I didn't know that." Edward's eyes narrowed.

"Oh come on I've known her my whole life."

"True." Edward mauled that over. Sure he teased Alice about liking Jasper but who would he feel if it hey really hooked up. He shuddered too think about it. They walked towards the mess hall and Edward thought off Isabella Swan letting his sister float out of his mind. She was a high school teacher that had to take a lot of guts he remembered some of the kids in his high school they were less then pleasant.

So that was one point too her being a strong person plus her living with Alice it took a special person too live with Alice so that was a second point in her favor. He wondered more about her story. Her father lived in Forks he wondered what he did there wasn't many jobs in Forks and she didn't mention a mother that that added mystery too her. Plus her name alone Isabella Swan it was pretty and sophisticated and he could just picture her in his mind. He wished he had a picture off her too see if his imagination added up too the real thing.

"Ok stop day dreaming." Jasper hit him upside the head.

Edward glared at him as they gathered there food and sat down together. Life in the middle of a war zone wasn't fun but Bella's letter made him a little lighter heartened. He wondered if he'd ever meet the girl in real life if he would ever make it home. And he shook his head away from that thought trying too bring the light heartedness back to himself. He again tried to picture her but a rain cloud seemed too have descended over him.

"Are you oK?" Jasper nudged him.

"Yeah I'm fine." He shook his head. Being in that type of mindset could be one of the worse things too happen. He ate the food in front of him and thought off all he had to be thankful for but his mind still went back there too what if.
