8/9 years old - The Dare

Zora walked away from her brother and his friends to find something else to do. It wasn't that she was bored with them, they were quite fun to be around. What made her leave was that his friend Levi showed up. As in Levi Thomson.

As in, Shayne's brother.

And when Levi was around, Shayne was sure to be close by. They were twins after all. But of the two, Zora liked Levi more. He wasn't the "evil" twin.

She found herself in front of the tree she loved to climb. Her favorite branch was empty, so without a second thought, Zora climbed up to the branch and sat. She just spotted where her brother was playing with his friends when she heard a voice.

"Is that as far as you'll go, you baby?"

Zora looked up to see that Shayne was sitting another branch up.

"Yeah, 'cause I like this branch," Zora said.

"Ha! I bet you're scared to go any higher!" Shayne said.

"I'm not," Zora said. "But if you're so brave, why don't you go higher?"

Shayne smirked. "I already am."

"That's not what I mean," Zora said, smirking. "I dare you to go even higher. To the top of the tree!"

Shayne's smirk faltered, but it came back quickly. "Fine. I can do that. 'Cause I'm not scared and I'm a better climber than you!"

Zora rolled her eyes as Shayne stood up to start climbing to the top of the tree. He grabbed the nearest branch to hold onto as he started to climb, but before he was able to get to the next level, the branch he held onto snapped. Zora's eyes widened in shock as he fell to another smaller branch, then to the ground when that snapped under the sudden weight.

He cried out holding his leg which Zora thought didn't look right after his fall. It reminded her of the previous year, when Shayne pushed her off the branch she now sat on, and broke her wrist that she used to break her fall.

Yeah, his leg was broken.

Shayne looked up and glared at her, his eyes watery. "You planned for that to happen! I hate you!"

Zora remained silent as Shayne stood up, broken leg and all, and hobbled off to find his brother or parents. She felt bad that his leg was broken, but it wasn't her fault that he fell. In her mind, it was what he got her breaking her wrist last year. She smiled.

"Revenge is sweet."

Again, short. But I promise the next ones get longer! Seriously! :)

Plus, these are only snapshots of their past... so yeah... hehe.
