"What the hell are you doing?"

It was a fine sunny morning. Tetsuya woke up before his alarm blared as usual, made toast like usual, and brewed himself a cup of coffee like usual. What wasn't usual was him walking to the living room to find books, papers, and pictures being thrown around everywhere by his little sister.

Amaya didn't even bother stopping what she was doing to look at him. "I'm trying to find out who this Invictus guy is."

The man's eyebrow twitched at the nonsensical response. "And how, my dear sister, does making a huge mess of our house help with that?"

"Don't you remember?" This time, his sister actually did stop to look at him with excitement in her eyes. "He called us by our names, Onii. That means he knows us which could mean we know him. However, we don't remember him which means he's either a simple acquaintance or a childhood friend from way back then. This could mean we have a picture of him with us somewhere."

"That's… actually not that bad of an idea," Tetsuya admitted, "but what if he's just a stalker or knew us because of the papers. We are quite well-known by the public for inheriting the massive fortune of our missing parents."

Amaya's digging slowed to a stop as the realization settled in. "Yeah, that… seems more likely."

"I'm glad you're thinking more clearly," her brother remarked before taking a sip of his coffee, "Now, clean all of this up."

The young woman gasped, "What!? You're not going to help me!?"

"You alone made this mess. It's only fair that you alone clean it up." The man then started walking away from the room.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Amaya asked as she stood up.

Tetsuya took another sip of his coffee before responding, "To the workshop."

The lady raised an eyebrow. "You still call it a workshop? Isn't it more like a lab with all the explosions and stuff?"

Her brother turned around to face her with a dark look on his face. "I call it a workshop because a lab sounds more suspicious."

"Suspicious? What are you even doing in there?" Amaya warily inquired.

The man's expression quickly lightened. "So, are you finally curious about what I do in my free time?" A hint of excitement could be heard in his voice.

'He must've been waiting for a long time for me to ask that question,' Amaya thought before an idea came to her mind, 'That's it! I could use this as an excuse to get out of this chore.'

"Uh, yes, very curious," she replied, "I want to know what kind of stuff are you making down there."

"If that's the case," a smile crept onto Tetsuya's face, "clean this up first then you can see it."

His sister almost dropped to the floor at her plan's failure. "What!? No fair!"

"Very fair," Tetsuya remarked, "I suggest you start now. The sooner you do it, the sooner you'll get it done."

Amaya groaned, "Fine."

Before she got started, she slammed her fists ona nearby table in frustration of having to do chores when she was itching to get answers. However, in doing so, she accidentally knocked over a picture frame comprising of several photos of their family, breaking it and allowing the photos inside to come peeking out. She gasped in surprise as Tetsuya took another sip of coffee. His sister had broken too many things in the house to surprise him anymore.

"Clean that up first," he commanded, "Get rid of the frame, we can't use it anymore. Of course, leave the photos on the table."

The woman groaned again before wordlessly getting to work. The frame had spots for four photos so there were only four things she has to grab before grabbing a broom to clean the broken frame up. However, she found five pictures inside. She looked at the picture and found three people in it. Her younger self, maybe two years younger, her brother, and a young boy who couldn't have been older than ten. However, she didn't know who the kid was.

"Onii," she called, " This was hidden inside the frame. Do you know remember this is?"

Tetsuya came up to her and looked at the picture and hummed to himself as he pondered. "I can't say I do."

She scrutinized the unknown kid and the more she looked at it, the more she found a resemblance between him and her father. "He looks a bit like our father, don't you think?"

"Now that you say it…" he trailed off before another idea came to his mind, "He also looks a bit like that Invictus guy."

Amaya stared at him incredulously. "How could you make that conclusion? I don't remember his face enough to do that."

"Amaya, we just met him yesterday," her brother reminded her.

"Yeah but…" she started to argue, "don't you think we only saw his face so briefly?"

Tetsuya then pointed at his temple. "I have a good memory." He then snatched the photo away from her hands as she whined. "We'll take a look at this later. Start cleaning up."

Amaya pouted. She never did outgrow that habit which made Tetsuya happy that a part of her cute little sister was still in the bad girl exterior. "Fine."

After she was done, the young woman sighed and laid down on the floor. She then took a deep breath and shouted, "Finished!"

"Come on down, the door's open," Tetsuya's distant voice sounded.

The lady groaned as she got up. She walked up to a certain door in the house and opened it. Inside was a flight of stairs leading down to the basement workshop. The stairs were lit up by bright lights, revealing the white walls and steel steps. Blue lights were embedded in the stairs and on the walls, giving a futuristic feel to the place. Amaya marvelled at the sights. She had never been to the place before despite it being built a year and a half ago. Just two years ago, her brother was a lazy good-for-nothing. He changed as much as she did. Once she got to the bottom, she was greeted with a steel door with a panel in the center and no door knob. She figured it was an automatic door so she walked closer but it didn't open.

"Hey! What gives?" she complained, "I thought you said the door was open."

"Put your hand on the panel," instructed Tetsuya behind the door.

Amaya threw her hands in the air and scoffed at her brother's fussiness. She did exactly as she was told and put her palm against the green glass panel. A line at top of the panel lit up before slowly going all the way down.

"Scan complete. Welcome, Amaya," a female voice came out of the panel. The door then opened up to reveal Tetsuya sitting on a chair with an expectant look.

"It works," he observed, "I wasn't sure it would since I had to scan a scan of your handprint instead of the real thing."

"How'd you even scan my handprint?" Amaya questioned.

"Not important," her brother dismissed before going to his computer and working, "Feel free to look around."

The woman looked around the room and almost gasped. There were weapons displayed everywhere. There were swords, gauntlets, guns, hammers, and a lot more. None of the weapons looked like any models she had ever seen so Amaya surmised that they were her brother's original designs. She wanted to test them out but all were encased in glass displays. She almost complained to her brother when she saw a weapon that was just lying on the table.

It was a small white pistol with a pink light running along the length of the barrel. She tried to look for a release button for the magazine to see what the bullets looked like but saw none. She didn't even see signs of there being a magazine. She shrugged her shoulders and took aim at the lights above her. She pulled the trigger and several things happened in a short amount of time.

The pink light was pushed towards the front of the barrel. The gun then gathered a ball of pink light in front of the hole before silently shooting it off to the intended target. Amaya closed her eyes due to the light and opened them after she was sure the light was gone. She looked up at the lights but saw that they were completely unharmed as if nothing happened. She then tried again to see if she actually did it right but the exact same thing happened.

"Onii!" Amaya called out, prompting him to turn around to face her, "What's up with this? It doesn't work."

Tetsuya wordlessly grabbed a nearby wrench before hurling it at his sister. The lady cried out in surprise and shot the wrench whilst covering her head with her other arm instinctively to protect herself. Instead of feeling bones break, she heard a clanging sound. She slowly removed her cover to see the wrench lying harmlessly on the floor.

"Hey!" she yelled at her calm brother, "What was that for!?"

"I was just showing you how it works," he calmly replied, "That gun only does damage when I want it to. Its main function is erasing all of its target's inertia, therefore taking away its momentum."

Amaya was never the smart kid but she knew enough to understand what she was just told. However, it wasn't enough to calm her down. "What if I missed, huh?"

The man simply smiled warmly at her before turning back to his work. "I knew it wouldn't."

His sister scoffed and rolled her eyes. She returned the gun to where she found it before looking around once more. She then found something gigantic hidden under a huge piece of cloth. She walked towards it and pulled the cover away. She marvelled at the sight that greeted her.

It was a full suit of robot-like armor. She could tell it wasn't a robot because of the stand holding it up. It had a silver undersuit with white pieces of armor and clothing attached to it. The boots were black with white armor pieces and ran up to just under the knee. The kneecaps were covered with round metallic knee guards. There were pieces of armor running down the thigh. Similarly, it had pieces of armor on top of the forearm and on the backs of the hands, which were covered with black gloves. The shoulder pieces resembled the top part of a rook chess piece and were as tall as the user's eye level. The chestplate covered the upper half of the torso, coming to a point below the center of the chest. Every white piece had glowing pink lines running down their lengths.

The helmet was white and had huge pink visors that give off the feeling of a readiness to fight. The face was silver with black borders. The lower part of the face was thicker than the rest, forming a mouthpiece. Over that mouthpiece were two vertical lines similar to that of the ones on the armor pieces. There were three horns coming out of the helmet. The horns pointed backwards and ran over the head with the middle horn being higher than the others. There were three glowing pink lines running diagonally along the sides of the helmet.

"Woah!" Amaya wondered at the suit, "What's this?"

The suit's creator turned around and smiled. "I knew you'd like that one. That's a suit I made to protect the public more quickly and efficiently than the authorities do. Basically, it's a superhero suit. I call it the Kamen Rider Arx armor."

The lady struggled to hold in a laugh. "Isn't that too childish of a purpose and too childish of a name?"

"Look at it," insisted Tetsuya, "Does it look like a school project to you?"

"Okay, okay." Amaya then turned back to the suit. "What's the meaning behind that ridiculous name and when are you going to start using it?"

"The term Kamen Rider means exactly what it seems. My face is hidden and I'm almost done building a motorcycle to use," her brother replied as he got back to work, "As for the second question, the suit is still incomplete. I have to complete my research first before I can even hope of using it."

The woman then turned around and walked to the computer. "Research on what?"

"Hammerspace," Tetsuya began, "I need to practically create another dimension to store everything you see in this room so I could carry them everywhere with me like a game inventory."

Amaya nodded her head, silently thankful that her brother knew exactly what she could and could not understand. "If you're only fighting your regular everyday criminal, why would you need all this weaponry?"

"There's a saying that I like," her brother began, "'A sword in the hand keeps another in the sheath.' Sometimes, the threat of violence prevents the enemy from even trying."

Amaya's eyes narrowed at her brother as a thought came to her mind. "How did you even get the parts for all these without grabbing the authorities' attention?"

The man simply shrugged. "We have enough money to get everything I need while keeping myself under the radar."

His sister grinned, suppressing a laugh. "You're starting to sound like a shady weapons dealer."

He rolled his eyes. "Shut up."

A virtual light bulb then lit up above the woman's head. "Have you tested these out yet?"

Tetsuya took a moment to recall past events. "Well, not on people," he responded.

The smile on his sister's face widened. "Well then, how about we test it on an actual target?"

The bespectacled man looked at her incredulously before quickly realizing her intentions. He then remove his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Don't tell me…"

"Let's go to the forest and hunt down that Invictus guy!" Amaya suggested with sparkles in her eyes.

"No, not gonna happen," the older brother rejected. However, the woman already made a grab for the gun she played with before and ran out of the room. Tetsuya sighed and surrendered to his sister's will. He never won against her when she was excited and he doubted it would ever change.

Once they arrived, the siblings went into the forest with Amaya in the lead. A few seconds after they went in, the woman stopped to take a deep breath while her brother watched in confusion of what she was planning to do. She opened her mouth widely and Tetsuya immediately knew what was going to happen. He quickly covered his sister's mouth and muffled her shouts. She struggled under his grasped for a few moments before finally getting him to let go.

Amaya caught her breath before glaring at her brother. "What was that for!?"

"Calling out for him will not help us at all," he explained before holding up a finger, "Firstly, he might not even be here. Secondly, by the small chance that he is here, if he hears you, he'll know we're looking for him and run away before we could see him. Lastly, something else might hear you."

The lady pulled out the gun that she took. "But we have this. If he tries to escape, we'll hear him trying to leave and we can shoot him right then and there. If something else comes at us, we can use this bad boy and get it before it gets us."

"Need I remind you that that gun only takes away the target's momentum?" Tetsuya argued.

A glint of mischief showed itself in his sister's eyes. "I remember you saying that this thing does damage if you want it to."

The man facepalmed at the reminder. "I shouldn't have told you that."

Amaya then put a finger under her chin and thought about what she should do. "You do have a point about him trying to escape," she admitted, "Okay, we'll stay quiet. Keep following my lead."

She then walked ahead and her brother shrugged his shoulders and followed. As was decided, the pair trudged fairly slowly into the forest, trying their best not to be loud enough to frighten or agitate any creatures in the area.

Tetsuya started to daydream about his project in the middle of their travels. The journey was so monotonous that he could walk without minding his surroundings. He was sure that Invictus was not in the forest. He was found there twice. Why would he run away from them and then stay in the forest just to be found again? The Arx system only needed the hammerspace to be complete. Everything else was in place. However, he could not get far with his research. He could get any information he wanted with his parents' money, the siblings weren't rich snobs who valued materialistic things. However, he was only one man. True research needed a full team. He either needed to hire some people or to hope for some miracle to happen and he really disliked the former. Arx was supposed to be a secret hero. A team would compromise that.

Before Tetsuya, could think any further, a hand suddenly appears in his line of sight. His sister had put up her hand, signalling him to stop. He looked around him to find out where they were. He found himself in the very same clearing where the attacks happened. He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Amaya, he was spotted here twice in one week. Why would he be here again?" he questioned.

The lady simply shrugged her shoulders. "Not like we have any other ideas."

"Let's just head home," Tetsuya suggested, "We'll never find him again."

"Shh," his sister tried to silence him but he was not having any of it.

"Don't try to get smart with m–"

"Shh!" He was interrupted once more. Now, he was starting to get mad.

"Amaya, you–"

Before he could finish, he heard a twig snap. At that signal, the lady aimed the gun in her hand at the sound's direction and fired. The beam scattered in the air as if it hit something but the pair couldn't see what it was. A dull thud was then heard on the ground but there was nothing there. Tetsuya grabbed the gun and the pink light turned red. He fired the gun at the direction of the thud. Once again, the beam dissipated in the air as if it hit something. It was then confirmed by the sound of something impacting against the tree behind whatever it was that was just shot.

That something was a someone. He groaned in pain before the camouflage came off. His body started appearing out of thin air. His body was covered in a transparent armor. Even the cape on his back was covered in this clear layer. Underneath that was a dark body with orange accents and a head with large red eyes. His body was a bit leaner than Invictus' monster body and the blades as well as the antennas were a little smaller. He looked so much like Invictus. Basically confirming his identity is the metallic mask and belt that were identical to the ones Invictus wore.

"Hey! What gives!?" the downed monster complained.

The siblings walked slowly towards the creature, unsure of its identity. Tetsuya still kept his gun aimed at the golden monster. "Invictus, is that you?"

The masked man stood up slowly. "I–" He stopped himself and froze for reasons unknown to the siblings. Amaya opened her mouth to speak but the creature beat her to the punch. "Don't follow me."

He then jumped backwards away from the people who had just found him before running away. The older brother immediately shot his gun at the retreating monster but he jumped away, avoiding the blast completely. Tetsuya shot two more times ending in the same result. Amaya then began to chase after who seems to be Invictus with her brother following closely behind. The man opted to put his gun away as to not waste any more energy since he knew his shots wouldn't find their target now that he's aware he's a target.

They ran deeper and deeper into the forest. They ducked and weaved through the branches blocking their way. The creature looked back towards his pursuers and came up with a plan to lose them. He took sudden turns, sometimes turning back and running in the opposite direction to confuse the siblings but they were still chasing after him. He could run faster but he doesn't want to waste any energy for what he's supposed to do. He figured he had no time to waste anymore so he put his hands in front of him with the backs facing each other. He then threw his hands to his sides, opening up a portal of light.

The siblings chased blindly after the monster, not caring where he leads them. When they saw the portal of light, they covered their eyes but were unable to stop themselves from following Invictus inside it. The portal felt warm. Amaya swore she heard the sound of water gushing. Before she could check, she stumbled on something and fell down. She felt her brother trip over her but thankfully, he landed beside her. She finally opened her eyes and saw Invictus standing across a river with his fingers massaging his temples.

"I told you not to follow me," he whined.

Amaya stood up, raised her chin, and crossed her arms. "You're coming with us whether you like it or not."

The expression on the creature's face changed. He now looked visibly mad. "You!" he yelled before jumping towards the woman and cocking back a fist.

She let out a shriek of surprise before trying to cover her face from the blow. She heard flesh impacting flesh but she didn't feel any pain nor did she feel like she was sent flying. She opened her eyes to see Invictus right in front of her with his arm right beside her head. She immediately jumped back in surprise and finally saw the situation. Another creature was blocking Invictus' punch with its hand. Tetsuya was on the other side of the exchange, wearing a look not different from the one on his sister's face.

The new monster was completely covered from head to toe in armor. It had a bulky build and a tall figure. The armor over the torso was dark green in color. The armor on the limbs were also dark green on the sides facing away from the center of the body while the inner sides where light blue. The armor on the forearms came to a point over the elbows. Similarly, the armor on the shins had a pointy end over the knees. The armor on the side of its upper arms had spiky edges. On opposite sides of its wrists were two halves of claws bending back onto the forearms. Its head was covered by a helmet. The two sides of its head ended in singular spikes. The top of its head was littered with smaller spikes. The helmet also sported a mask that covered its nose and mouth. The monster's face was black with red eyes. It had similar red markings to that of the first monster that start from the bottom of its eyes, over its armor, and down to the bottom of its shin.

Invictus retracted his hand just in time to avoid his wrist getting crushed by his opponent's claws. He went invisible again before it can ready an attack. The creature looked around to find its enemy but he was nowhere to be seen. It then shifted his focus on the girl trying to get up. Despite seeing its gaze on her, Amaya was not afraid, rather, she was determined to fight.

The creature took a few steps toward her but just as the woman was cocking a fist, she felt something shove her backwards but she couldn't see what it was. She then heard something impacting the creature's armor but it didn't budge. Something that sounded like a blade then tried to slash the creature but the creature moved, making it impact the armor on its upper arm rather than whatever the blade was targeting. Once again, Amaya heard the sound of flesh impacting the armor but this time, the blow was intended for the side of the head. The monster's head was tilted to the side thanks to the blow but appeared unharmed. It then cocked back a fist and threw it forward. The impact made a loud noise. Amaya then heard a thud on the ground beside her and saw Invictus reappearing with his hand tending to his chest. He was groaning in pain.

The monster let out a low sound and started walking towards the two people on the ground. Suddenly, it flew right over their heads. They stared at it wide eyed and slack jawed, wondering what went inside its mind to do something like that. It then fell to the ground and thentwo saw smoke coming out of a burn mark on its back. They looked forward to see what caused it and saw Tetsuya holding the gun that they brought. However, instead of red, the lights on the gun were bright blue. They immediately got up and got behind the bespectacled man.

"That armor is tough and so is the thing wearing it," informed Invictus before seeing the lights on the weapon dwindling, "It'll take a lot more of those shots to completely destroy it and I don't think that gun has enough."

The lights on the gun then reverted to red. "I know." Tetsuya then aimed the gun at the ground just in front of the monster. He pulled the trigger and the resulting beam hit the rocky floor, sending rocks and dust into the air and creating a makeshift smokescreen.

The creature waved its arms wildly in an attempt to clear its vision. However, it was of no use. Luckily for it, the smokescreen did not last long. Unluckily for it, its three enemies were no longer there. The monster let out a sound of frustration before turning to the river and diving inside.

The siblings ran as fast as they could whilst following Invictus' lead. He navigated around the nearby forest effortlessly as if it was his home. The two behind him were beginning to run out of breath so he decided to cut their escape short. He ran towards a cave that he knew of. He had only visited it once but once was enough to conclude that nothing lived in it. Once he reached the cave came into view, he directed the two to its location. He stayed near the entrance while the siblings went a little deeper inside and caught their breaths. Invictus' body them began to turn into its human form. He took off the mask and hung it on his pants. He turned his attention to the man and woman gasping for breath and found glares trained on him. He swallowed as he realized what was going to happen next.

"You… have some… explaining to do," said Amaya between breaths.

Invictus tried to play cool and shrugged his shoulders to hide his fear of their gazes. "Where do you want me to start?"

"Just who are you?" came the first inquiry by the woman.

"I told you already, I am Invictus," he quickly responded.

"Don't give me that," Amaya spat, "You know our names, you can't simply be a stranger."

"Considering that you're asking me for who I am, I am a complete stranger," argued Invictus.

"You–"

"Just what are those monsters and how are you related to them?" asked the bespectacled man. He knew he would not get an answer out of Invictus about his relationship to them so he asked another important question instead.

The man being questioned sighed. "They're called Effigies. They start out as smoke-like beings that possess other living creatures to attain a stronger form. They can eat any living creature but they prefer humans. The first that attacked you possessed a cobra and that thing just now possessed a crab."

"You didn't answer the second question," came the stern voice of the older brother.

For a second, fear flashed in Invictus' eyes but he soon put up his serious facade. "There is one species that would destroy an Effigy if it ever possessed one of its kind. Humans. Their minds would resist the Effigy and it would be left without a home. Once an Effigy picks its target, it can't pick another. No creation is without its flaws."

Tetsuya was getting impatient. "You're still not answering the question."

Amaya looked at the man being questioned and noticed that his posture looked like a child being scolded under her brother's gaze. She wondered if her brother was really that scary to others. He never did scare her.

"The man who made these Effigies created a prototype that would destroy a person's mind so it can in turn possess them with no trouble. This prototype can also pick another target if its original target rejected it."

Tetsuya's expression darkened, already seeing the ending of the story that the man before him is telling. Invictus was already looking so tortured. He didn't wish to hurt him like this but he had to have answers for two reasons. One, if he got answers, Amaya might leave Invictus alone and two, for some reason, he wanted to help the man out with whatever he's facing.

Invictus continued after a short pause. "I was the test subject of this prototype. I managed to fight it and keep my mind but it still partly possessed me and tried to possess a beetle in order to release its partial hold on me. I managed to subdue it somehow and now I have the power to fight back against the Effigies."

"You said someone created these Effigies," Amaya began her inquiry, "Who was it?"

Invictus' expression turned even more tortured. "A man named Hisakawa. He is a wizard from a long long time ago. He made himself immune to ageing with some kind of spell or potion he created but the last time I saw him, he was an old man so I assume he was already an old man when he did it. He spent centuries on making the Effigies into what they are today and he's not beyond spending centuries more to perfect them."

"That's impossible," Tetsuya refused to believe it, "Magic isn't real and immortality is just a pipe dream."

"Then what do you call that thing out there? Isn't that also impossible in your standards?" Invictus argued.

Before her brother could talk back, Amaya asked, "What is this world? I'm assuming it's not really a part of the Earth. At least, not naturally."

The man's face relaxed a little. He crossed his arms and leaned back against one of the cave's walls. "This world is not on Earth, rather, it's in another dimension. A portal leading here was created by Hisakawa to conduct his experiments without being noticed. This world contains most if not all the species on Earth even though it's less than quarter the size of Earth. You can see different climates and different landscapes right next to each other that should be impossible in our world but is possible here."

"You said the thing that possessed you also possessed a beetle," Tetsuya took his turn, "What species was it and how do you change form? I know that form you took earlier wasn't the same as when we first saw you."

Invictus sighed again. The siblings were asking him more questions than he expected. The older brother used to be lazy and the younger sister used to be a shy cute girl. He wondered where those people went. "It possessed a water beetle. I can somehow copy the form of other species of beetles but not anything else."

"So that form you took was based on the golden tortoise beetle," Amaya pondered. She then saw the surprised look on both men's faces. "What? Can't I be interested in animals?"

"Er, no, that's right, actually," Invictus came back to his sense, "That armor of that thing is very tough. Not even my strongest form can crack it. The only weak spot I can see is its neck. It won't just let me slice it so I have to be invisible to get close enough."

"Good tactic," Tetsuya praised.

He saw satisfaction briefly flash in the man's eyes. It was only for a second but he was sure of it. He did not know the reason for it though. Invictus' visage quickly reverted to its serious expression. "I have to go back there before the Effigy tries to break into Earth. You two, stay here," he commanded.

The woman immediately got up. "Like hell are you going alone!" she rejected, "We'll come with."

Invictus' face hardened even more. "You are staying and that's final." He then put on his mask and ran away. Amaya, however, saw something in his eyes. It seems he was just bad at hiding his true feelings. He was pleading, not demanding. She tried to go after him but she felt somebody grabbing her shoulder.

"Let him be for now," her brother suggested.

She glared at him. "You mean let him die."

Despite her visible anger, Tetsuya did not back down. They continued their stare down, neither determined to lose, until the woman gave in and scoffed in her defeat. She walked deeper into the cave and kicked stones around to ease her frustrations. She then kicked something that was buried too deep for her kick out of the ground. She almost tripped on it, catching her balance at the last second.

She took a look at what it was. It was too smooth to be a simple rock. She got down and used her fingers to dig whatever it was out. It looked like a belt. The buckle was oval in shape but she couldn't make out the details because it was dark and it was covered in dirt. She looked back towards the hole and saw what looked to be one end of a folded scroll. She quickly dug it up. She figured it would have important information about the thing. She walked back towards the entrance to get some light. Tetsuya was there waiting for her. He raised an eyebrow at the objects in her hands.

"What are those?" he asked.

Amaya shrugged her shoulders. "I was hoping you might be able to tell me." She then handed him the items.

Tetsuya carefully opened up the scroll as to not rip the possibly ancient item. The characters written were as clear as day but he couldn't understand it. It was a language he had never seen before with a writing system he was not aware of. His sister came to his side to read it but she only got as confused as her brother. Tetsuya shook his head and folded it to move on to the next item.

He dusted it off with his hands before fishing out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe more dirt off. It was indeed a belt with one side of the buckle cut off from the belt. The buckle was oval shaped with a slit in the middle, indicating that it opens up. It had five indents on the bottom of the right half. The buckle was attached to a metal base that attaches to the belt itself. The base was circular at the ends and longer than the buckle with the right side sticking out from behind the buckle.

"Well, that went nowhere," Tetsuya stated.

"Maybe we should ask Invictus about them," suggested Amaya.

Her brother gave her a stern stare. "He's probably fighting that Effigy right now."

"I know," she simply stated, "I want to help him. I don't know if you'll understand but for some reason, I want to help him."

A smile crept onto Tetsuya's face. "Then let's go."

Amaya's jaw dropped. She expected him to put up a fight before letting her go. "What's with that sudden change of heart?"

"I want to go help him too," he simply said.

"Why?" asked his sister.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Your guess is as good as mine."

Amaya smiled at that statement. For once, they agree on something. "Let's go."
