A/N: Hey guys! I'm here again! I've been getting a lot of reviews about updating my chapters more, and I'm soooooo sorry for such a long hiatus! I had so much going on and now I'm back! Again, I'm soooooo sorry! Anyways, enjoy!

Kim's POV

"Kim?" A voice called to me. I ignored it. "Kim honey. Get up," it called again. At that moment I realized that I had fallen asleep. I quickly got up to see my mom standing over me. I was still in the repair shop.

"I thought you'd be here when you weren't at home. It's 10 o' clock honey. We should get home now," mom explained.

"10 o' clock? Shouldn't you be working at Captain Corndogs right now?" I asked. The look on her face rapidly turned dark and depressed.

"They decided to let people go today," she almost whispered. I couldn't believe my ears. My mom was fired. She was one of their best employees. When she saw the anger in my face, she quickly covered up the sadness. "On the plus side, we'll be able to hang out more!"

I shrugged. My mother had worked so hard to raise enough money to hold the both of us up, and now it was all gone. She got the message that I wasn't happy at all. We drove home in silence.

Jack's POV

I got the school that Monday with Milton. It was his first day back in two years. I swear Milton lit up like the 4th of July when he walked back into Seaford High. "Man! It's great to be back!" He said as we walked in. I let out a soft chuckle. This kid pretty much lived and breathed school.

"Milton! What it do man?" I voice greeted us down the hallway. We turned to see Jerry and the rest of the gang walking toward us, and by gang, I mean Brody and Eddie. I guess Milton used to be great friends with these guys. After exchanging some high fives and stuff, the bell rang and we headed to our classes.

Jerry and I had first period together so the two of us sat in the very back. "Yo Grace! Back here!" He yelled as Grace walked into the class. She walked over and sat herself down next to Jerry.

"No Faceslammer? You two are usually together," I asked with a smirk. She didn't answer. Jerry and I looked at each other. Something was up, but we decided to let it go.

Kim's POV

I decided to call in sick today, but mom didn't know. I walked through the Seaford mall looking for the new restaurant called Falafel Phil's. Today was opening day. When I walked in, I swear the small of fried food overpowered me. "Hello?" I called as I walked in. No one answered, so I decided to take a look.

"Can I help you?" A voice asked. I turned to see a small brunette walking out of the kitchen. Before I could say something, she stopped me. "Let me guess, you here for job," she said in a thick accent. I quickly nodded as she smiled.

"It's grand opening, we need all help we can get."

"Really? Thanks! I'm Kim by the way."

"Mika. Uncle Phil owns restaurant."

I nodded as she showed me around the place.

Jack's POV

After school, the guys, Grace, and I decided to head over to a new restaurant at the mall.

"Yo. I heard that this place has the best falafel balls in town," Jerry explained.

"Jerry... I'm pretty sure this place has the only falafel balls in town..." Milton said rolling his eyes. We all just laughed.

We sat down at a booth waiting for our server to take our orders.

"Hi. Welcome to Falafel Phil's," a overly-happy blonde waitress greeted us. Before she could say another word, we all looked up.

"Kim?" Grace asked as she looked up. Boy, did Kim look nervous. The Southern Belle took off to the back of the restaurant as fast as she could. With my instincts kicking in, I shot from the table and ran after her.

Before I could head to the back, a small brunette that was half my size, stopped me at the counter. "Employees only," she said in a thick accent.

"Look. I have to go help the waitress that just ran back there. She's ummm… my girlfriend!" I said as quick as possible. The words just came out of my mouth before I could say anything. The brunette sighed and let me through.

"Make sure she ok. Alright? Today her first," she said. It was obvious that she was trying her best to speak English. I gave her a "thank you" nod and walked to the back.

"Kim?" I called out as I looked around. I found the little blonde crying her eyes out in the break room. She looked up and quickly wiped her eyes.

"What are you doing here?" She muttered. I shrugged. To be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. Slowly, I sat next to her and wrapped an arm around her. Instinctively, she rested her head on my shoulder and leaned against me. We sat there for what seemed like forever. I had to admit, it was nice.

Kim's POV

His embrace was warm. I never felt so comforted. Then I realized whose arms I was in. I quickly stood up and tried to give Jack an ice cold glare. "Are you ok?" He questioned seriously, but with a hint of amusement.

"You shouldn't be back here. Get out!" I pointed to the door. He just smirked and stood up.

"Laters," Jack merely said and walked out, but stopped right next to me and leaned in. "I'm here. Ok?" he whispered in my ear and finally left.

I stood there for what seemed like hours. Those three words rang over and over in my head. "I'm here. Ok?" Ok, Jack... I shook my head and walked out of the room to the front.

I honestly didn't want to go to school the next day, but I promised my mom that I wouldn't let my new job get in the way of school. The first four periods went fine. It was my lunch period I was worried about. I would have to deal with all the questions from all my friends, and I honestly didn't want to answer anything.

I made sure that I was the last one out of my fourth period class, so I could purposely be late for class. At my locker, I replayed Jack's words in my mind. Was he always that mercurial?

"Hey Faceslammer." Speaking of Mr. Mercurial... I closed my locker and faced him without saying anything. His face had the same amused look plastered on it, but his eyes looked different. They were filled with... What...? Sadness...? Worry...? Sympathy...? No... Jack wasn't capable of those feelings towards me. I took a step around him to get to lunch room, but before I could take another step, he grabbed my wrist and pinned me against the lockers. What was he doing?! Dropping my books, I placed my hands on his chest attempting to push him off. Wow... His chest was chiseled...

"Kim..." He breathed softly. His tone was different. Almost as if trying to calm down a wounded animal. "Are you ok?" He simply asked. I opened my mouth, but no words came out. Jack looked at me with those eyes again. Knowing I couldn't say anything, I simply nodded. He sighed, but it wasn't a sigh of relief. It was a sigh of worry.

"J-Jack... I'm fine..." I managed to stutter out. He slowly nodded and loosened his grip.

"If you need anything, and I mean anything, just let me know. Understand?" I slowly nodded just as the bell rang.

Jack's POV

"Understand?" I asked. She looked me right in the eye and nodded. Why did I care so much? Was it because I saw her so fragile yesterday? I shook the thought out of my head and walked away leaving her there to decipher what just happened. I didn't even know what happened.

I turned around to check on the little blonde, but she was no where to be seen. Where'd she go?

"Yo Jack!" I turned back to see Jerry walking down the hallway. "You ok man? You look like you just saw a ghost..." I shake my head.

"Nah. I'm fine. What's up?" We walked down to lunch, but Kim didn't slip my mind for a second.

A/N: Ah! Finished. Haha... I'll add more later
