I just thought of this seeing as in the Digimon Movie it's only ever mentioned, so I wanted to try and write how I see how the whole incident between Tai and Sora happened. So basically this happens before the incident in Highton View Terrace and Tai and Kari find the digiegg, so that would make Tai around eight and Kari around five. Gosh, Tai must've been a short eight-year old😂.

Enjoy!

Story 3: The Hat Incident

"Um ... thanks for helping me with my homework, Sora..." Tai mumbled out as he closed his textbook and shoved it into a small knapsack beside him.

The girl gave off a small shrug at the brunette sitting across from her. "I was helping Mimi with hers, so I thought you'd probably ask at some point." He gave her a sheepish grin and she returned it with her own smug smile. "Isn't it better having homework finished, Tai?"

His eyes wondered around the living room, trying to find something else to focus on. He spotted the other girl that was studying with them as she glanced over her notes, sighing desperately. The sound of rumbling caught the two girls' attention and they giggled, looking at Tai; who just blushed in embarrassment. "Do you have anything to eat?"

"Sure." She nodded, standing up and heading for the kitchen.

The boy noticed how she wasn't wearing her usual blue hat today.

Or any hat in general.

'She must not feel up to wearing it today. It is pretty hot...' As that thought went through his head he felt as if a sudden heat-wave fell over him, grabbing his shirt and fanning himself. "Did it just get hotter in here?"

"No..." Mimi looked up from her textbook, eyeing him in confusion. He eyed her in confusion as well. She was wearing a tank-top with a skirt and her long hair was back in a ponytail while he was wearing shorts and long-sleeved shirt. "It's mainly humid."

'I had to pick today to wear long-sleeves...'

He continued fanning himself.

Sora came back into the room with three glasses of cold water and some watermelon. "This might cool everyone down a bit." She placed the plate down and just as it touched the table; Tai had grabbed a glass and drank it before scarfing his piece of watermelon down too.

The two girls stared at Tai with their brows drawn together and mouths open wide, horrified at how fast he had eaten and drank both selections.

"Gross..." Mimi muttered out before going back to her textbook and muttering about not being hungry anymore.

Sora just laughed at Tai's shenanigans, taking her own watermelon and glass before sitting back down. As she sat down she noticed how much Tai was fanning himself. She blinking, tilting her head to the side and looked at him in concern. "Tai, are you okay?"

He gave a slight nod, standing to his feet, suddenly feeling dizzy. His vision was cascading between clear and blurry and it was irritating him. "I...I'm fine..." He mumbled out, quietly. "I just gotta go to the bathroom..." He wandered down the hall, causing both girls to stare after him.

The two turned back to each other, shrugging.

"Probably a boy thing..." They muttered.

Unbeknownst to the two girls; Taichi had only just wandered into the bathroom when he was overcome by a sudden wave of dizziness and heat. He swallowed, a taste that made him realize what was coming up into his mouth causing the boy to look around. He covered his mouth in hopes to slow it down.

It only made it want to come up more.

He ran for the basin, ready to throw whatever contents were in his stomach into the sink ... however his hands grabbed the blue hat lying beside the sink. He took it into his hands and buried his face into it, hurling the contents of his stomach into the hat.

Spittle and vomit were dribbling down his mouth as he put the hat back down beside the sink, absentmindedly of what he'd just done to his friend's headwear.

He grabbed a bunch of tissues, blowing his nose and wiping the spit and vomit from his mouth before throwing them in the toilet, flushing it.

He sniffed, wiping his nose and grabbing his head. It was getting fuzzier the more he moved around. "I ... better head back..."

The boy headed back out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him and headed back into the lounge. He came back to see the girls had gone back to working on their school work. Tai was about to head back over when he was stopped by a hand on his forehead making him turn to see Sora's Mother; Mrs Takenouchi.

"You have a fever, Taichi. I think it best that you head home," The woman told the boy, giving him a kind smile.

"But I'm fine. Honest!" He exclaimed, wiping his nose of more runny snot, causing both girls to cringe.

The woman just shook her head at the boy. "Sorry, but you don't look so good. I'll give your Mother a call to pick you up." With that she walked off to the phone, leaving Tai with the girls once more.

"Don't give us your germs!" Mimi cried out, inching away from Tai.

He glared at her, wiping his runny nose again. "It's not my fault I got sick so suddenly."

"It was probably the heat, Tai," Sora explained to him, smiling from behind her book and he gave a short, meek nod in return.

The redhead suddenly hopped off the couch, placing her textbook on the coffee table in the process, touching the tips of her hair as if self-conscious of the other people in the room; especially the boy seeing her hair without a hat covering it. She hurried out of the living room and down the hall to the bathroom as Mrs Takenouchi came back into the room.

"Your Mother will be here to pick you up soon, Tai," she told the boy; who nodded his head, sniffling.

"Okay..." He grabbed a tissue, blowing his nose, noisely, earning him a grossed-out look from the light-haired brunette in the armchair before he wandered into the kitchen to throw it in the bin.

He plopped back down on the couch, staring at the clock on the wall as the minutes ticked by, waiting for his Mother to come pick him up. Every so often he'd fan himself or sniffle again, blow into another tissue or wipe his nose on his sleeve.

Thirty minutes went by and Mimi's eyebrows twitched in irritation along with how Sora was still absent. The girl stood up, glaring at the messy-haired brunette. "I can't take it anymore! I get you're sick, but stop with the sniffling already! It's grossing me out!"

"I can't help it!" He glared back, sniffling.

The two glared at each other before a knock sounded at the front door, a soft click and a creaking sound was also heard from down the hall. "Tai! Your Mother's here!" Sora's Mother called from the front of the apartment, causing the boy to sigh in relief.

He jumped off the couch, pausing for a moment to grab his bearings from the sudden wave of dizziness surrounding him before approaching his backpack and picking it up. The boy walked down the hall and to the front door where his Mother waited and she could instantly see why Mrs Takenouchi had called her.

"Oh, Tai!" She cried out, putting a hand to her son's head to feel for a fever. "You have a fever. We need to get you to bed as soon we get home, Mr!"

He nodded his head at his Mother, turning his head to Mrs Takenouchi and bowed. "Thank you for having me." He sniffles a little at the end of his sentence. He looked to the bathroom, blinking as though feeling slightly dazed. "Is Sora still in the bathroom?"

"She must be?" Mimi spoke up as she came up beside Sora's Mother, nodding to Tai with a small smile on her face. "Get better soon, Tai."

He nodded his head at her. "Tell Sora I said 'see you'." The girl nodded and grabbed his Mother's hand, leaving the apartment.

As the door closed behind them a scream came from the apartment causing Tai to turn his head, slightly with a frown on his face. 'That sounded like Sora...'

She was currently in the bathroom and had been there for some time.

He had been in there at some point to throw up.

What had he thrown up into again?

His eyes widened in realisation as the hard-reality hit him of why she had screamed.

He cringed not just from this realisation, but from what she'll say or do to him when they next see each other.

'She's not gonna be happy with me...'

A Week Later

The day had just gotten stranger.

An egg had come from their computer and then hatched into a little black furball.

He had thought it was a dream until he woke up to see his little sister sleeping with the egg that morning.

Definitely not a dream.

Now she was feeding the furball chocolates.

"Hey, those are mine!" He shook his head as his sister gave the creature the last of the chocolate. "We can't keep it." She turned her attention to him, blowing into her whistle while shaking her head with a frown on her face. "Fine, it sleeps on the couch!" She blinked, staring at him, the whistle falling from her mouth. "I guess we'll just tell Mum that its a throw-pillow..."

There was a sudden ringing, causing Tai to turn away from his sister and run out of their bedroom and into the hallway. His sister leaned forward, hugging the creature, liking the warmth it displayed along with how affectionate it was.

"I'll get it!" Tai shouted as he ran out into the lounge, taking the landline off its holder and putting it to his ear. "Hi Taichi Kamiya speaking."

"This is Sora!"

He froze.

She was finally calling him about that incident.

He didn't like where this was going to go.

"Mimi told me you were the one who threw up in my hat! I'm...mad at...you...Tai...miya!" Sora exclaimed from the other end, causing Tain to take the phone away from his ear and stare at it with surprise on his face.

The connection was breaking up.

Was that a good or bad thing for him?

"What's up with the phone?" He shrugged as a sigh of relief broke out of his lips. "Perfect timing too..."

With that he hung up the malfunctioning phone and headed back towards the bedroom he shared with his sister only to come across a scene he wasn't expecting.

The creature had changed into a pink blob with ears, red eyes and crazy, toothy smile.

Things couldn't get much worse ... could they?
