The man in the chair wore simple and casual clothing and a belt, though time seemed to take its toll on his atire... worn, dirty and moldy.
Creep looked up to his face slowly.
To see...
Nothing.
Just nothing.
He... It was...
faceless...
...
Mouthless...
Eyeless...
Missing any greatly defining facial features...
It had nothing human covering the front of its head.
All it had was shallow valleys that pulsated and seemed to breathe in and out of what should be an eye socket.
The face was tilted in a way that seemed almost mechanical, and it was situated in a way so that it conveyed a feeling of questioning and of cold desire.
Creep stared quietly, feeling a deep feeling of dread that chewed at her dwindling courage. Cold sweat began to drip on to the floor as she waited in silence, fully prepared to run at a moments notice, and so close was she to try.
"-_Don't attempt to leave, little one--_"
"-_Don't try to run-_"
"_We have so much-"
"-_Sooo much to talk about-_"
*frzzzzzzz
"-_little rosen one_"
The voice floated out of the audio of the device held in the hand of the faceless man, The device was a child's walkie talkie. It had a name written in permanant marker on the side of it, most of it obscured by the slender hand of the man.
The device was cracked and old, years of use had made it worn to the point of near uselessness.
It must talk through the device it held as a means to comunicate, this seemed to be done through some odd force that Creep did not understand or completely comprehend. During her time here in the spire, she had witnessed similar creatures or things doing the impossible: vortexes of bone, solid blood constructs, organic flesh that grew on walls like moss would, molten rock insectoids and countless other horrors and oddities.
The faceless one was the newest edition to this list of odd things.
"_-What a lovely fa-_ce you have-"
"_-One to scream and-_ laugh-"
"-_Yes.-_ what a lovely, lovely face you have_-"
"...U-um t-thanks" Creep nervously said, the strange compliment making her quite uneasy.
"...--/-"
The faceless one somehow stared at her, while still lacking eyes.
Creep felt maybe asking it a question would shed light on what it intended to do with her.
"H-hey... umm... whats your name? A-and what do you want with me" Creep asked the faceless one.
The faceless one continued staring at her, It suddenly tilted its head sideways. She took a step back.
"-_... A name... a name, I had a name... But a name comes with a face... Its lost now... lost... both my face and name_-"
The faceless one looked at Creep.
"-_You... you have a face, a name... something... something that lets you feel... let me have yours... give me your lovely face... little one-_"
The faceless one reached out an arm as if to stroke Creep's face, but she avoided its contact.
Taking a few steps back Creep prepared herself for whatever was to come.
"-_Don't try to run... I've locked the door and got the key-_"
Creep turned tail and ran for the elevator... only to see that the halway was blocked with black slimy webbing.
"-_Don't try to run~"
The voice from the walkie talkie was almost happy in tone as it sung words as if it were a lullaby.
Creep looked back at the creature it had stood up from the chair and was slowly begining its persuit.
Creep ran to the only cover she saw, the large stacks of boxes.
"-_ I can feel your steps~"
When she made it to the boxes she ducked behind them and looked back to see the progress of her persuer, It was walking slowly and jankily to her. She looked around to see if she could find anything to use as a weapon, she could see nothing.
"-_Don't try to fight~"
"-_I'll steal your fists"
Creep moved further into the stacks of boxes, still nothing
"-_ and if you scream~"
...
"-_I'll take your mouth~"
Creep sped up her search, the voice was getting closer.
She kept looking, searching for a weapon.
"-_And if you cry~"
"-_I'll have your eyes~"
There! A rusty exposed pipe was sticking out of the wall. She ran over to it and started trying to pull it out.
It wasn't coming out of the wall! It was stuck!
"-_And if you hope in this dark spire~"
She pulled hard as she heard the voice behind her getting closer and closer.
"-_The dark will take you, little squire~"
From the corner her eye she could see a slender hand reaching for her.
She pulled hard this time, and the wall finally gave way.
She used the momentum from ripping it out of the wall to smash her new weapon across the extending arm of the faceless one.
"ARG-/FREZZezZE!!"
The faceless one retracted its arm as it schreeched loudly from the walkie talkie.
Creep readied for another swing.
The faceless shook as if it were having a seizure.
"AAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!"
It screamed from the walkie talkie as it lunged for Creep. Creep dodged the lunge and slammed her pipe across its back. It screamed again and slashed at her with its slender arm. It slammed against her arm causing her to scream out in pain. She stumbled back slightly and then dodged as It took another swing at her. She swung her pipe at it againb but its fist wrapped around the pipe grabbed the pipe... stopping it mid swing.
She struggled to get the pipe out of its grasp.
The faceless one leaned in angrily as Creep stuggled. Feeling a great rage it screamed loud coherant words.
"I WILL LEAVE YOU PAIN!"
"AGONY!"
"DESPAIR!"
"WHEN I TAKE YOUR FACE!"
"WHEN I TAKE YOUR NAME!"
Creep continued trying to get her pipe free.
"WHEN I TAKE EVERYTHING THAT MAKES YOU!"
The faceless one twisted the pipe and grabbed her wrist, forcing her on to her knees.
Creep was now trying to escape from its grasp. She suddenly felt something wrap around her neck... lifting her up off the ground.
She looked down to see a black slimy tendril wrapped tightly around her neck, it seemed to come from the floor. As she struggled to breathe, she saw something on the belt of the faceless one. A pocket knife! She gave the faceless one a kick staggering it and grabbed the knife with one hand. As the faceless one recovered from her kick, she quickly shoved the knife into its throat.
The faceless roared back in pain, as she fell to the floor and breathed heavily while the black tendril that had held her captive, withered.
The faceless one stumbled backwards while nursing its neck, still alive.
She needed to stop it!
She-!
...
She needed to kill it...
She quickly looked around and found the pipe that the faceless one had dropped.
She crawled to it and picked it up.
She stood up and turned to the creature moving towards it pipe ready while it shook and struggled to get the pocket knife. She rushed towards it and smashed the pipe across its face sending it to the ground. It tried to get up, but as it did she saw an opportunity.
She raised the pipe into the air...
and smashed it down on to the pocket knife sending it completely through its neck.
Its body squirmed as black liquid burst from its neck, It screamed through the walkie talkie.
"AAAARRRRRrrrrrrr!"
It clawed the floor trying to get up, but it fell down as soon as it did.
"AARRR!"
Creep kept her weapon ready.
It continued trying to get up for almost half a minute.
It then suddenly stopped struggliing.
"...You... lost..."
Creep readied herself for it to attack... but it didn't move... It didn't even try to get up.
Instead its body turned to black slime, but after a few seconds it disapeated to reveal...
Her...
It looked exactly like her but drained of life and color. The copy smiled creepily and said with her voice...
"Y-you lost something... *cough*cough you lost some of you... you lost a part of you when you killed me... and I took it... and I took you..."
It laughed with her laugh, It then choked on its own black blood which it swiftly spat out.
cough *cough
It turned onto its back... looking at the ceiling.
"Huh... the ceilings blue"
Creep looked up to see a grey ceiling... she didn't know what to do...
The copy lifted her hand... reaching for the ceiling.
"...So this is what it's like to be someone again..."
Its hand dropped, its body went limp, it stopped breathing and it stopped being alive. Its eyes continued to stare at the ceiling.
Creep looked at the copy of herself. Reality came crashing down on her.
She had killed someone she had actually killed someone!
She had stabbed a knife into another person's throat and watch them die.
She fell to the floor, horrified at what she had done.
She started to cry...
"You... lost"
A voice suddenly said. She raised her head in alarm, looking quickly for the source.
"You... lost"
It was the walkie talkie... it kept on playing the same message.
Over and over again.
Shaken' she struggled to get up. She wiped any tears from her face and walked over to it and grabbed it trying to turn it off.
"You... lost"
She kept trying for almost a minute before giving up and placing it down next to her copy's body.
She looked at the copy.
"I'm sorry..."
...
The copy didn't move
She needed to get to the elevator...
"You... lost"
She needed to leave...
She started walking out from the stacks and into the hall which was now free of obstructions. She turned a right and there it was... the elevator.
"You... lost"
She entered and press the button to the next floor.
As the door closed, the walkie talkie played the message one last time...
"You... lost..."
