Percy stormed into Lupin's classroom that the last student had just cleared out of. He walked up to Lupin's desk slamming his hands down on it. "I'm adopted?!" he yelled unable to control his anger any longer.
Lupin who had been cleaning up from his last class returning books and notes to his office jumped at the noise. "Mr. Weasley, what can I do for you?" he asked once he had regained his composure and picked up the papers he had dropped off the floor.
"I'm adopted," Percy repeated a bit less loud this time, glaring at Lupin but no longer leaning on his desk.
"H-how do you know about that?" Lupin asked setting his papers on the desk before he dropped them again. Percy showed him the parchment with the family tree on it. After reading it Lupin gulped setting it down on the desk. "Does anyone else- Have you shown anyone else this?"
"Just, Oliver," Percy answered crossing his arms annoyed that he still didn't have an explanation.
"So Harry still doesn't know," Lupin mumbled nodding. "I assume you would like an explanation," he said to which Percy nodded.
"Well your mother and I were still in school when she was pregnant with you. We were too young to raise a child and we weren't even together. Lily was dating James Potter at the time, she um even was when you were conceived. James had gone home over break and well I don't think you really need those details. Anyways we agreed to have you put up for adoption and Lily hid her pregnancy from James and well most people. No one really knew she was pregnant. Your par- Molly and Arthur wanted another baby, she had a miscarriage roughly around the time I found out Lily was pregnant so they agreed to adopt and raise you. You were roughly around the age the baby they lost would have been so no one questioned anything. I'm really sorry, Percy. This is probably the worst way to have found out. I'm sure Molly and Arthur meant to tell you at some point."
Percy scoffed at that comment. "I doubt it, they've had seventeen years to tell me and never did. I only found out because of a Charm. I don't understand why they couldn't have told me. I understand if it was a closed adoption why they wouldn't tell me who my birth parents are but they could have at least said something." Lupin nodded not quite sure what to tell him in response. "I should tell Harry shouldn't I?"
Lupin shrugged in response. "That's up to you, Percy. If the situation was reverse would you want to know that you have a brother?"
"I'll think about it," Percy nodded. "I'm sorry for my behavior. It was unnecessary and really improper. I should know better."
