A/N: Wow it has been a while. But I am continuing this story, through all three movies (this is based off the movies, and not the books, though i did read them). This story will also have two OCs, Amane and Raven. And will be ThorinxOC (with a little HaldirxOC thrown in there) and FilixOC. I had a lot of readers and followers before, so I hope you continue reading. I promise to finish this story (and all my other stories.) Read and review, I love your feedback. XOXO, Sammi
Amane sat by the campfire listening to the sounds of the night, as most of the dwarves slept. Amane watched as Bilbo went to his horse, feeding her an apple, thinking nobody was looking. As he walked away, Amane could hear the orcs screaming. Bilbo looked alarmed at the sound, moving closer to the dwarves.
"What was that?" Bilbo asked.
"Orcs." Amane and Kili said. She noticed Thorin jerk awake and grab his sword at the word.
"Orcs?" Bilbo asked. How nice it must be in the shire, knowing not of the horrors of the world.
"Throat-cutters. There'll be dozens of them out there. The lowlands are crawling with them." Fili said.
"They strike in the wee small hours, when everyone's asleep. Quick and quiet; no screams, just lots of blood." Kili continued, and Bilbo looked horrified, causing the two brothers to laugh. Amane was about to say something when Thorin cut in.
"You think that's funny? You think a night raid by orcs is a joke?" Thorin asked angrily
"We didn't mean anything by it." Kili defended.
"No, you didn't. You know nothing of the world." Thorin said angrily, before walking away to look over the cliff. Balin walked up to the group.
"Don't mind him, laddie. Thorin has more cause than most to hate orcs. After the dragon took the Lonely Mountain, King Thror tried to reclaim the ancient dwarf kingdom of Moria. But our enemy had got there first. Moria had been taken by legions of Orcs lead by the most vile of all their race: Azog, the Defiler. The giant Gundobad Orc had sworn to wipe out the line of Durin. He began by beheading the King. Thrain, Thorin's father, was driven mad by grief. He went missing, taken prisoner or killed, we did not know. We were leaderless. Defeat and death were upon us. That is when I saw him: a young dwarf prince facing down the Pale Orc. He stood alone against this terrible foe, his armor rent, wielding nothing by an oaken branch as a shield. And he attacked the orc, cutting off his arm. Azog, the Defiler, learned that day that the line of Durin would not be so easily broken. Our forces rallied and drove the orcs back. Our enemy had been defeated. But there was no feast, nor song, that night, for our dead were beyond the count of grief. We few had I thought to myself then, there is one who I could follow. There is one I could call King." The whole camp was awake and staring at Thorin, some in awe, and others sadly, as he walked away from the cliff and back towards the fire.
"And the pale orc, what of him?" Bilbo asked.
"He slunk back into the hole whence he came. That filth died of his wounds long ago." Thorin said. He noticed the sad look in Amanes eyes.
"I do not want your pity elf." He snarled. Amane didn't respond, but left the camp, walking down the cliff. Bilbo looked confused.
"Should someone go with her?" He asked.
"No, dear Bilbo. She needs some time by herself. Thorin isn't the only one who has a reason to hate orcs." Gandalf said. Kili, Fili, and Bilbo gave him expectant looks.
"When Amane was young, and just an elfing, about 20, there was an orc raid on the outskirts of Lothlorien, where her family lived. The battle was bloody and brutal. Her mother and father led the war, and were killed before her eyes. She was young, and didn't know how to fight. She was almost killed that night, if it were not for the Marchwarden saving her." Gandalf said sadly. The whole camp seemed sad, and Thorin looked down at the elf that now sat below the cliff, staring into the forest.
The next day they were riding their horses through the rain. It was pouring, and Amane was soaked to the bone and cold. Her lips had a purple tinge to them as she shivered. She hated cold rain,
"Mr. Gandalf, can't you do something about this deluge? Dori asked.
It is raining, Master Dwarf, and it will continue to rain until the rain is done. If you wish to change the weather of the world, you should find yourself another wizard." Gandalf said.
"Are there any?" Bilbo asked.
"What?" Gandalf asked.
"Other wizards?" Bilbo asked.
"There are six of us. The greatest of our order is Saruman, the White. Then there are the two Blue wizards; you know, I've quite forgotten their names."
"And the other two?" Bilbo asked.
"Well, that would be Radagast the Brown, and his apprentice, Raven the Red." He stated.
"Are they great wizards, or are they.. more like you?" Bilbo asked, and Amane sniggered as Gandalf looked slightly offended.
"I think he's a very great wizard, in his own way. He's a gentle soul who prefers the company of animals to others. Raven is the same way, and she has great potential. They keep a watchful eye over the vast forest lands to the East, and a good thing too, for always Evil will look to find a foothold in this world." Gandalf said.
"So there are on six wizards in the world?" Fili asked.
"Yes. But their are others who can use magic." Gandalf said, giving Amane a knowing look.
"Thats cool. for all you know i could be a wizard!" Fili joked, earning a snort of laughter from many of the dwarves.
"For some reason I doubt that." Amane said laughing. Thorin glared at her, and she stuck her tongue out at him, childishly. She saw Gandalf roll his eyes.
"Watch it elf, i might curse you while you are sleeping!" Fili joked, wiggling his fingers as if he were casting a spell. Amane laughed at the sight.
"That isn't how one would use magic, dwarf." She joked.
"Oh, how would you know, are you a secret wizard?" Kili asked, and everyone but thorin laughed jokingly.
"No. I'm an elf." She said when she finished laughing.
"Elves know magic?" Bilbo asked.
"Some do yes." Gandalf said.
"Do you know magic?" Ori asked Amane. She nodded.
"Yes, I know a little." She said.
"Ooooo, can we see?" Fili and Kili asked at the same time.
"No. We will have no displays of magic here. It will attract unwanted attention." Gandalf stated, and Thorin glared at Amane for putting the idea in Kili and Fili's heads. Amane glared back.
