Maddy pov

Just under an hour it took to sort everything with the authorities, now they believe that we had to leave suddenly due to a bereavement within our distant family and that we had no time to inform anyone of our departure.

They seemed to believe us but I suspect Segolia had a hand in that.

The way back home we are silent until dad speaks up "So, you and Rhydian? You know your mam's going to be watching you like a hawk"

I sigh tiredly "I know, but she can't control us or monitor everything we do"

"I won't be as controlling, but do be responsible Mads" dad reasons, "When am I ever not responsible dad" I say jokingly.

"Madeline" dad says seriously, I cut him off "I know, I know I will be, we will be, we've been through too much to throw everything away by being irresponsible"

"Okay, just know that we love you, and that we trust you both, don't make us regret that" dad explains.

"We won't" I state simply.

We revert back to silence as we pull up to the house, I stare at our home - it feels like we've been gone for years but at the same time it feels as though we never left.

I mentally prepare myself as I expect the house to look abandoned from within.

But it doesn't, it looks like home. Like we never left, I suppose mam made an effort to make it look so.

The table is set and the room looks totally put together, not what I expected.

I can hear mam and Shan upstairs, they're setting up the rooms. "So Shannon, you staying the night?" I hear mam ask Shan. "If it's not too much trouble Mrs Smith" she replies, "It's Emma love and it is no trouble at all" I hear as they both make their way downstairs.

The entrancing smell of pizza invades my senses, Rhydian and Tom are back with food.

"-Maddy" Tom says before he's shushed by Rhydian "Later". He knows we'll hear whatever Tom says.

They both enter the house and the mouthwatering scent of pizza intensifies.

My stomach alerts everyone of my hunger and I flush in embarrassment, "What" I say defensively as everyone chuckles, "I haven't eaten in ages, let alone pizza" I say the last part dreamily.

"You'd think you've never had it before pet" mam says.

"It looks like you missed pizza more than us" Rhydian adds while Tom and Shan nod and look offended.

"Maybe I did miss the pizza more" I counter, then I say "You idiots, your my pack, my family. I missed you more than anything, especially stupid pizza"

"Aww Mads" Shan says bringing me into a hug, "Yeah, you've gone soft Mads" Tom announces, Rhydian laughs as we all hug.

"Right, lets eat" dad says breaking our emotional bubble.

"Pepperoni, meat feast or margarita" Rhydian lists while giving us questioning looks.

"Margarita" replies Shan, whilst Tom states "Pepperoni".

Rhydian turns to me as I growl "Meat". He chuckles as he recounts the time I had an episode due to Shan's mam's wolfsbane medicine.

Everyone looks confused until I remind them of the incident.Then they laugh.

"So boys, Shannon is staying a night, why don't you?" mam asks.

"Sure, I'll just tell Mrs Vaughn I'm at Tom's" Rhydain says as Tom adds "and I'll tell mum I'm at Rhydian's, you know 'cause no one knows your back yet"

Shan nods before adding "Then I'll tell my parents that I'm at Tom's too"

Mam agrees, then suddenly dad brings up the dreaded subject "What about school"
