It was morning at Duel Academy and everyone was in class. The seating was assigned by dorm color with Reds at the bottom, Yellows in the middle and the Blues at the top.

They were waiting for their teacher to arrive.

"Alright, sit down everyone." Dr. Crowler instructed. "I'm only going to tell you this once, my name is Dr. Vellian Crowler and I'm here to teach you about the different card types. Now, who will like to explain the three types of cards? How about you, Ms. Rhodes?"

"Duel Monster cards can be grouped in Normal, Fusion, Ritual and Effect, Trap Cards and Spell Cards. Trap cards can be divided in Normal traps, Counter traps, and Continuous traps. Spell cards can be divided into Normal spells, Continuous spells, Equip spells, Quick Play spells, Ritual spells and Field spells." Alexis explains.

"Perfect. Well done Alexis, of course I wouldn't expect anything less from one of my Blue Obelisks." Dr. Crowler said.

"Yes, Dr. Crowler." Alexis said sitting back in her seat.

"Now, who's next? Tyson Stewart. Inform the class about the different types of Monster cards." Dr. Crowler said as he stood up.

"If you insist. Normal Monsters can be summoned without a cost. Effect Monsters can benefit either the player or their opponent. Fusion and Ritual monsters are generally summoned with a specific spell card or a certain effect. Synchro Monsters are summoned by combining the level of a tuner and non-tuner monster. Last, but not least XYZ's are created by stacking two monsters on top of each other."

"Mmm, yes I suppose that's a fair enough explanation." Dr Crowler shrugged.

"Thanks." Tyson replied, taking a seat.

"Better go a little lower on the ranks." Crowler mumbled as his eyes went to Syrus. "You, Syrus Truesdale." He said causing Syrus to jump. "Please explain to the class what a Field Spell is."

"A Field Spell is uh…well it affects the uh." Syrus stutters.

"Even Pre-Schoolers know the answer to this one." Torimaki mocked.

"Hey, jerk." Tyson turned and called out to the bespectacled Obelisk. "Leave him alone."

"And who asked you to butt in?" Torimaki growls.

"Listen pal, you need to mind your own business." He shot a look at Torimaki, making him flinch.

"It was a good try, Syrus."

"I think not, take your seat. Now can anyone give me the correct answer? Preferably someone who is not wearing red." Crowler asks as most of the Obelisks burst into laughter.

Syrus sits in his seat and slumps. "I blew it, I made all the Slifers look bad."

"You know Dr. Crowler, you really should try and be nicer to the Reds." Tyson got Crowler's attention. "As I'm sure you recall, I'm a Slifer and I managed to defeat you in the entrance exam. So you're really insulting yourself to be honest."

'That's it! I've had enough of this Slacker! I need to get rid of him once and for all!' Dr. Crowler thought.

The next class had a man with black hair, glasses, and in his hands was an orange cat.

"So, as some of you students know or don't my name is Prof. Lyman Banner. I specialize in some of the lesser known tactics of Duel Monsters some that others might say are unnatural, Duel Alchemy for instance."

"Hey Tyson, thanks for sticking up for me earlier."

Banner looks in his direction.

"Syrus." Banner calls out.

"Uh yes?" Syrus asks standing up.

"Do me a favor and grab Pharaoh." Dr. Banner asks.

"Pharaoh?" Syrus said confused.

"Unless you plan on majoring as a scratching post." Banner jokes.

Syrus looks at his legs and sees Banner's cat at his feet and everyone in the class laughs.

In his office Dr. Crowler was writing a letter determined to get his revenge on Tyson.

"How dare that Slifer Slacker make a mockery of me in front of my own class. It'll be the last mistake he makes at this academy." Putting the letter in an envelope Crowler picks up a mirror and puts red lipstick on and kisses the back of the envelope.

"Ah, the big kiss-off." Crowler said before bursting into laughter.

After Gym, Tyson was returning to the locker room.

As the Slifer's started gym with Fonda Fontaine the gym instructor and head of the Girls dorm Crowler sneaked into the locker room and placed the letter on top of a pair of boots he thought were Tyson's before running off.

During class while Ms. Fontaine was introducing herself Syrus was running late.

"Lousy girl's gym. Why do they have to make the signs so small?" Syrus said to himself as he ran to a locker to see Jaden's shoes inside.

"Hey these are Tyson's sneakers. Guess he's still borrowing my locker." Syrus reaches in and pulls the shoes out to see Crowler's letter fall out. "What's this?" Syrus picks it up to see the kiss marks and freaks out. "But this isn't his! Someone wrote me a love letter!" Syrus said in shock opening it.

"From the moment I first set my eyes on you I've been in love with you. Meet me tonight at the Girls' Dorm so I can give you a big kiss. Endearingly, Alexis Rhodes?!" Syrus read aloud in shock as he fell to the ground.

"Oh man, this sure is a lot better than what my mom writes." Syrus sighed as he imagined him and Alexis getting together.

Sometime later...

It was nighttime on the Academy, and almost time to go to bed. Tyson had returned to their room after taking a shower.

"Hey Syrus, you can use the outhouse now."

"You mean you haven't noticed?" Chumley asked. "Syrus isn't here."

"Well, where did he?" Tyson stopped, taking a whiff of the air. "Never mind, I have his scent. Tell Banner I'll be late for dinner." He left the room, with his duel disk strapped to his arm.

That night Syrus was in a rowboat paddling towards the Girl's dorm. "Alexis I'm coming." Syrus said with a smile on his face.

At the Girls Dorm Crowler wearing a black outfit as if trying to blend into the night takes out a pair of bolt cutters and breaks the lock behind the dorm.

"Perfect thanks to that fake love letter I wrote for Tyson will show up looking for Alexis, but all he'll find is trouble. Once he arrives I'll snap a picture and with proof of him breaking one of the biggest school rules he'll be expelled." Crowler grinned waiting for him. to show up.

Meanwhile in the Girl's dorm Alexis was enjoying the hot springs that were available to them along with their friends Jasmine and Mindy. Mindy was a girl with black hair and Jasmine was a brunette and it was easy to say that these three girls together were the hottest girls on campus.

"Can you believe what Tyson said to Dr. Crowler in class. He's got some nerve speaking to a teacher like that!" Jasmine shouted.

Mindy agreed, "What a big mouth."

"I thought it was cool."

Outside Crowler was waiting for Tysn when he heard footsteps approaching. "That's it come right into my trap like the Slifer sap you are." Crowler said silently, but his hopes are destroyed when he sees Syrus walk over.

"Alexis?" Syrus calls out.

"That's not Tyson, it's that stammering field spell nitwit."

"What's a boy doing here?!" A girl cried out alerting the other girls.

"I'm not a boy I'm a man— I mean forget it!" Crowler runs off and falls into the water thinking he was busted, unfortunately the real victim was Syrus. He couldn't do anything as the girls surrounded him and brought him inside for questioning.

"A love letter from Alexis?" Mindy asks surprised.

"Yep it's true, just ask her." Syrus said.

"Uh hello Alexis is really tall and you're really short." Jasmine said.

"But it's true." Syrus said taking out the love letter. "Just read it."

Alexis takes the note as she and the other girls read it.

"Syrus, my names not even spelled right." Alexis said.

"So you don't love me?" Syrus asks as Jasmine takes a look at the note.

"Hold on, this note's addressed to Tyson Stewart."

"Aw, I can't even get a fake love letter." Syrus groans.

"I'm sorry Syrus." Alexis apologized.

"I don't buy it. He could've written the letter as an excuse to come here." Jasmine said.

"So what? Should we report him?" Mindy asks.

"Girls, just what is going on down there?" The four girls look up to see Ms. Fontaine looking over the balcony. Thinking quickly the girls hid Syrus so she wouldn't see him. "Alright what's going on?"

"We're sorry Ms. Fontaine we'll try to put a lid on things." Alexis said.

"I should hope so it's after midnight and I have Pilates in the morning." Ms. Fontaine said going back into her room.

"So, what are we going to do with him now?" Jasmine asks.

"I'll tell you what happens next girls we use Syrus as bait to see if Tyson is as good as we think he is." Alexis smirks.

At the Girl's dorm:

Tyson had finally arrived towards the Blue Dorm.

While that was happening Dr. Crowler looked on, "You're a little late."

He saw another boat in the distance. Jasmine, Mindy and Alexis were with a tied up Syrus.

"Mind telling me why Syrus is tied up?" He questioned the three girls.

"I was set up." Syrus answered.

"You're right, don't you know you can't come here without their headmaster's approval."

"Exactly, which means you two should be expelled for being here." Alexis told him.

"Your friend was trespassing on the Girl's Campus." Jasmine said.

"And now that you're here, so are you." Mindy added.

"That's right so if you want your freedom you're going to have to beat me in a duel." Alexis said.

"But if you turn us in we'll be expelled." Syrus panics.

"Well, then." Tyson opened one of the deck boxes attached to his shirt. "Let's settle this, here and now."

Out on the lake Tyson and Syrus were on in one rowboat while the girls were in another one.

"A Slifer vs. a Obelisk. Put him in his place, Alexis." Crowler grinned.

"Ready?" Alexis asks.

"Only if you are."

"Duel!"

Tyson: 4000

Alexis: 4000

"You can go first."

"What a gentleman." Alexis draws and looks at her hand. "Etolie Cyber, rise!" On her side of a field a red ballerina like monster appeared.

Etolie Cyber ATK: 1200

"And I'm also going to place one card face-down." Alexis said.

"It's my turn." Tyson drew a card. "I'll summon Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn in attack mode!" A blast of black feathers exploded before him, forming into a tall, slender bird-man with dark black feathers, ostrich legs and a black and crimson poncho slung over his upper torso. His raven head seemed more like a helmet, as human features were visible within the beak.

Blackwing Sirocco the Dawn ATK: 2000

"You must be cheating, that's a level 5 monster!" Jasmine yelled.

He explained. "Since there are no monsters on my side of the field, I can summon this without sacrificing anything."

"Now attack." Sirocco charged across the water and raised it's clawed hand to slash Etolie Cyber.

"I don't think so! I activate the Trap Card Doble Passe!" Alexis said as Sirocco swoops in and attacks her instead.

Alexis: 2000

"Doble Passe turns your attack into a direct attack on me and now my monster gets to wage a direct attack on you!" Alexis said as Etolie Cyber ran towards Tyson.

He raised his arms as Etolie Cyber unleashed a powerful kick, making him drop to his knees.

"I'm impressed, to be completely honest. You bypassed my monster to attack me directly."

"You're sweet too bad I have to crush you." Alexis said. "Now, where were we? I play Blade Skater."

Appearing next to Etolie Cyber an ice dancer dressed in purple with blades on her arms appeared. "Next I activate the Spell Card Polymerization to fuse Etolie Cyber and Blade Skater in order to summon Cyber Blader!"

The two monsters fuse together to create a monster that had dark blue hair and a red visor.

Cyber Blader ATK: 2100

"Now Cyber Blader attack Sirocco with Whirlwind Rage!" Spinning into a pirouette Cyber Blader kicks Sirocco destroying him.

Tyson: 2200

"Way to go, Alexis." Mindy cheered.

"I knew this kid beating Dr. Crowler was a fluke."

"Is that a fact, well let me show you otherwise." Tyson drew a card. 'None of the monsters in my hand are stronger than that Blader and it's effects change with the amount of monsters on my field.'

"I'll summon Blackwing Bora the Spear in attack mode!" Another blast of black feathers created another bird-man, this one shorter and thinner than Sirocco, his bird-head again a helmet covering his human face, wielding a large black lance with drill spiral patterns running up it.

Blackwing Bora the Spear ATK: 1700

Tyson then took another card from his hand. "And because there's a Blackwing monster with a different name on the field, I can special summon Gale the Whirlwind in attack mode."

Blackwing Gale the Whirlwind ATK: 1300

"Those monsters aren't that impressive." Jasmine commented.

"You're right." Tyson agreed. "However, remember what I said in class about Synchro Monsters. Well, you're about to see one for the first time." Gale split into three glowing rings that encircled Bora, reducing him to four stars that collided in a blast of black feathers...

"Darkened gales, become the wings that will soar to the heavens! Synchro Summon! Blackwing Armor Master!"

The black feathers exploded apart as the Synchro Monster glided down. He was tall and slender, clad from head to toe in jet-black armor adorned with orange patterns, his hands coated in bronze, clawed gauntlets. His helmet was shaped like a bird's head with a crimson jewel held within the beak, bladed wings spreading behind his back. His bare midriff was the only clue that he was even alive and not an armored robot.

"Armor Master, attack her Blader with Black Hurricane!" Armor Master surged forwards and threw a fierce punch into Cyber Blader.

"But why? Alexis' monster can't be destroyed." Jasmine questioned in confusion.

"Indeed, however she would still take damage." Tyson pointed out.

Alexis: 1600

"That ends my turn."

Alexis draws a card and grins. "I equip my spell Fusion Weapon to Cyber Blader!" On her right arm a red trident forms on her hand raising her attack.

Cyber Blader: 3600

"Cyber Blader attack with Trident Spark!" Cyber Blader fires a blast at Blackwing Armor Master, but to everyone's surprise it wasn't destroyed.

"What gives?" Syrus asked.

"You can consider this monster the improved version of Cyber Blader, Syrus. It cannot be destroyed in battle and in addition, I take no damage from attacks involving it." He explained.

"You better think fast though." Alexis replied.

"Cause once you lose you're both getting expelled." Mindy reminded them.

"We are?" Syrus asks scared.

"No, we aren't. Cause I don't plan on losing."

'You shouldn't make promises you can't deliver.' Alexis thought.

Tyson drew a card.

"Here comes Monster Reborn. I'll revive Gale the Whirlwind!"

"Hate to break it to you but none of those monsters are strong enough to destroy Cyber Blader."

"That's why I set this. Icarus Attack, I tribute Gale to destroy your Cyber Blader." The Blader exploded into pieces.

"And that's not all, I can still attack. Blackwing Armor Master, Black Hurricane!" Armor Master surged forwards and threw a fierce punch into Alexis.

Alexis: 0000

"Alexis?" Mindy said in shock.

"What just happened?" Jasmine asks.

"Now, I won so we can go free."

"We'll keep quiet." Alexis said.

"Well, I say we turn them in anyway."

"No one asked you." Alexis cut her off. "He won fair and square."

"If you'd like a rematch, head over to the red dorm."

"I'll definitely do that." Alexis said, watching the two Slifers row back to their dorm.

'Even if I won, I wouldn't turn these guys in.' Alexis thought to herself. 'This place is more fun with them than without them.'

"I've never seen Alexis act like this." Jasmine thought. "Is she falling in love with this Slifer."

Back with Crowler, he was glaring as he watched Tyson and Syrus row away. "Lucky brat. I'll find another way to expel him." He said to himself. "As soon as I find a way home."
