Kisses
She never really understood it.
What were kisses?
Were they important?
And why were first kisses even more so?

Technically, if she was being a smarty,
Then her first kiss was with her parents.
At night, she would receive her good-night kiss.
Before school, she would receive her good-bye kiss.
They were only kisses…
But they told her that she was cherished
And that her parents loved her.
…
And many years after that,
She had what girls normally defined as a 'first kiss'.
To them, it was a first kiss with a boy,
A man who was not related by blood,
But related by love.
And technically, Sho was related to her by love.
They were in love or at least she was.
Note the past tense.
They were over…
Yet he kissed her,
Kissed her with the excuse of chocolate.
But it was only a sweet kiss
That told her that she was cared about…
Even though it was an egoistic ex-boyfriend that cared about her.

And a while after that,
She had what she defined as a 'first kiss'…
Though the said person gave her an innocent one on the cheek
And they didn't have a love relationship…
Or at least not yet.
But she thought of it as her first kiss.
It was full of love;
It was important
And it actually meant something.
It wasn't something that was
Meaningless and an everyday occurrence like with parents
Nor was it forced on her by a person who dumped her first.
The kiss was impulsive and unpredictable
Though, admittedly, anticipated.
It was the kiss that gave her butterflies
And started a new chapter of love.
