Chapter 3: The Office
"Oh what do you do with a drunken sailor, what do you do with a drunken sailor, what do you do with a drunken sailor early in the morning!"
"Randy will you shut up for one minute?" Stottlemeyer said, typing fiercely on his desktop.
"Sorry Captain!" Randy said, continuing to strum, "This could be the best song I've ever written! I'm going to play it at Natalie's wedding reception."
"Randy, that song was already written."
"Oh. I get it. Am I sensing a little jealousy- eh Captain? Jealous huh?"
"Randy…please." Stottlemeyer threw a pile of papers into the garbage bin.
"Okay, okay." Randy said, nodding his head in defeat as he placed the guitar back in the case.
"Wait. Hold up, just one minute- did you say Natalie- as in Natalie Teeger- is getting married?" Stottlemeyer said. He burst out laughing. "To whom? Don't tell me-"
Monk walked into the office. His face was white.
"Monk." Stottlemeyer said, "What is it? What's wrong?"
"I saw Trudy's present." Monk said.
"Well, that's great Monk. You finally opened it. I'm proud of you."
"I kind of didn't have a choice. Natalie and her fiancé stud had a wrestling match on top of it and it ripped open."
"Stud?"
"Well, that's what Natalie calls him. What does that word even mean?".
Stottlemeyer coughed.
"Well, Monk. That's too bad." Stottlemeyer said. Well what was in it?"
"That's just the thing." Monk said. His face pained. "I- I don't think the present was from Trudy at all."
