Experiment 105
Chapter Three
Alright, I know I said that Unova's Downfall would be next to be update, but I opened up Doc Manager to start typing, hit about 650 words, then realized...I'm still not entirely over my writer's block. I am so, so, so sorry to those of you waiting for an update on that one, and I can assure you that I will not abandon it, no matter how long it takes me to update! Meanwhile, I will continue to update this one so that my readers know I haven't totally abandoned them. Now then, thank you to Earthboundfan2 and DapieisTasty for following this story. I don't own Pokemon.
That evening, I managed to cram a quick dinner down my throat before collapsing on my bed, exhausted. Between a whole day of nonstop training and keeping Proton off of me - I had soon realized that giving him what he wanted only made him want more - I was so tired. But I'd had a successful day. I practiced gaining control over my Persian form. Once I'd practically mastered that (it hadn't been hard) I got the chance to gain some new forms. Now I could also Transform into a Golbat, a Zubat, a Koffing, a Weezing (seriously, what was with these people and Poison Types?), Ratatta, and Raticate. I even got the chance to gain an Arbok, a Houndoom, and a Nidoqueen when Giovanni and two more of his Executives stopped by to see how far I was progressing.
An almost overwhelming sense of pleasure had crashed over me as I realized just how satisfied Giovanni was with me. It was mostly that pleasure that had gotten me through the day. But now I felt drained, once more just an emotionless creature. My coppery eyes closed, but almost immediately a picture formed in my mind. A pair of green eyes, filled with mocking and lust. I growled and sat up in bed, my own eyes opening. "Damn Executive. Can't even let me sleep." I muttered as I laid back down. Fine, I'd just lay there with my eyes open. I'd fall asleep eventually. Soon, probably, since I was so tired. Who said I couldn't sleep with my eyes open?
I couldn't sleep with my eyes open. It had been nearly an hour, filled with yawns, and I still couldn't get to sleep. Every time my eyes started to close, my mind wandered to that infuriating, green-haired man. Needless to say, I was not amused. I realized something just then. I was churning with emotion! I was frustrated, annoyed, curious, and so much more. Why? So far, only Giovanni had been able to elicit more than minor annoyance from me. But what I felt around that man and what I felt just thinking about Proton were two different things. I sighed, turning to lay on my side and stare at the wall instead of the ceiling. I knew I needed to get to sleep. I was going to practice battling tomorrow.
My eyes slid closed. If that damn Executive was going to haunt my dreams, then fine. I was tired and not in the mood to deal with this. Maybe if I did something horrible to the man tomorrow, this wouldn't happen again. As I fell asleep, I recalled something he'd said to me just before I had retired for the night.
I was done training today. I'd done a lot more than I thought I would have. It was only my first day, after all. I ached all over from the new Transformations I'd done just a few minutes ago. Gritting my teeth, I stretched a little. It seemed to help. So I did a few more stretches. Once the ache was all but gone, I leaned back against the wall, closing my eyes for a moment or two, intending to catch my breath. Well, it was caught all right. In my throat, that is. I hadn't even heard him approach, but the next thing I knew his voice had sounded next to my ear. That was what had caused my breath to be caught in my throat.
"I remember what you said this morning. You know what I want." I felt his hand close around my wrist, and I opened my eyes to shoot the green-haired menace a glare. He ignored the look I gave him and continued with a smirk. "I can be very determined when it comes to getting what I want." His other hand rose and I felt him touch my cheek. I considered turning to bite his finger off, but decided against it. I didn't want to catch a mouthful of the fabric of his gloves. It probably tasted nasty.
"Well you're not getting what you want. No matter how determined you can be. You'll just end up annoying me, and my patience runs thin. I always have the option of Transforming into a Persian and clawing your face off. Or perhaps I'll just take the option of becoming a Nidoqueen and smashing you."
He chuckled. "You're heartless. Very well, Experiment." He lowered his hand and let go of my wrist. "But I will have you someday."
"Sure. When Hell freezes over." I rolled my eyes and stalked away.
Laying in bed, on the brink of sleep, I wondered what his strange obsession with me was all about. As soon as he'd gotten his real look at me this morning, he'd been a creep. Maybe that was just who he was. My thoughts faded as I fell asleep, dreaming of the sharp claws of my Persian form tearing through Proton's flesh.
The next day went similarly. I woke, ate breakfast, then dressed in another leotard. Proton came for me at seven. When he tried to grab me, though, I got a good grip on one of his fingers and threatened to break it. He backed off long enough for me to have a normal walk to the same room I'd gone to yesterday for training.
I did a quick run-through of my known forms - Persian, Zubat, Golbat, Koffing, Weezing, Ratatta, Raticate, Arbok, Houndoom, and Nidoqueen - before turning to face Proton. "So, I'm learning to battle today? Against who?"
He smiled. "Why, against me of course. I was told to oversee your training after all."
I crossed my arms, saying a quick and silent thanks that he actually had a job to do. When he focused on his job, he didn't act like a total creep around me. "Fine. Let's just start then." I began to consider my choices as he tossed out his first Pokemon: his Golbat.
Alright, well I wanted a evolved Pokemon myself then. I ran through my extensive knowledge. Nidoqueen's Ground moves wouldn't affect. It's Poison attacks, as well as Arbok's, Golbat's, and Weezing's, wouldn't do much. Of course, there were other moves those Pokemon could learn. But my power was still not very large. I could only use attacks that were learned at a low level.
Ah, that was it. I decided and shifted into a quadruped, canine Pokémon that was mainly black with a long orange snout and an orange underbelly. I had small, red eyes and a black nose. Around my neck was a white band with a small skull-shaped pendant on my throat. There were two white bands around each of my ankles, as well as three rib-like ridges on my back. A long, skinny tail with a triangular tip whipped around behind me and my paws, each with three clawed toes, pounded against the floor as I suddenly charged towards Golbat. I jumped at it then, but it flew above me, grabbing my pair of grey, curved horns that jutted from my head in its feet.
It slammed me into the wall and I was dropped to the floor. I rose to my paws just in time to feel Golbat's fangs sink into my shoulder as it used Bite on Proton's command. I snarled and whipped my head around to sink my own fangs into Golbat. Except my teeth crackled with electricity. As my Thunder Fang connected, Golbat released me from its hold to screech. As it flapped away, I shot off a few bolts of fire from my mouth, watching in satisfaction as Golbat took my Ember and was left with a Burn. It seemed that battling was another way of unlocking certain emotions for me.
Then that stupid Executive called a command that turned the tide of the battle. "Confuse Ray."
A moment later I was swaying on my paws, shaking my head and growling. I had to finish this battle quickly, or I would surely hurt myself. Where was Golbat? There! I dashed towards it, once again preparing a Thunder Fang. I jumped, opened my jaws . . . then yelped as I smashed into something hard. My vision blurred then cleared, and I felt like an idiot. My Confusion had caused me to think part of the wall was Golbat and I had just run into it! Growling, I whipped around, searching for my foe. Ah, there it was! Surely this was the real Golbat this time! I bit down with a Thunder Fang . . . and an intense pain spread through my tail! I felt my muscles seize up and I fell to the ground, unable to move as Paralysis wracked my body. It was too much. I was unwillingly reverted back to normal, laying there on the floor and groaning.
"You...damn..." I mumbled. "Stupid...Confuse Ray..." Darkness had begun to lurk around the edges of my vision, and now it spread, overtaking me.
I woke to find myself in my bed. Sitting up, I realized that the Paralysis from my Thunder Fang must have worn off or been cured, as I was no longer sore. My shoulder, where Golbat had Bitten me, was bandaged. It ached a little, but the pain was bearable. I pulled the sheets off of me and swung my leg to the side, so I sat on the edge of the bed. Then I stood and stretched, wincing as my the ache in my shoulder intensified from my movements. "Damn Golbat." I muttered, grabbing my shoulder and gritting my teeth. I sighed and made my way out of my bedroom, pausing and scowling as I heard a noise from my sitting room. The TV was on. Who was here?
Turning towards my sitting room, I froze in the doorway and growled. "You couldn't just drop me off then leave?" I demanded.
He stood from where he'd been seated on my couch, picked up my remote, and turned off my TV (Okay, so maybe I'm a bit territorial) before approaching me. I stood, frozen, as he got closer, then tensed and growled again as he grabbed my wrist (Why did he like doing that?) and pulled me closer to him. "Well I just had to make sure you were alright, Experiment."
I pulled away. "Well I'm fine. Now leave, Proton," I snarled.
He just smirked that infuriating smirk. I had only known him two days. It shouldn't be familiar already. But it was. "You're a lucky girl. Lucky that you're a pet project of Giovanni's. Lucky I hold the feelings that I do for you. Otherwise, I'd be rather angry right now."
"I'm incapable of fear, you idiot. At least when it comes to you."
"Pity." Proton brushed past me, heading towards the door. As I turned to watch him go, he managed to steal a kiss on my cheek. I was on the verge of Transforming into a Persian and mauling him. Then he left, and with him, went any emotion I was feeling. Not really thinking about what I was doing, I lifted a hand to my cheek, my fingers brushing the spot his lips had made contact. Then I shook my head and growled, dropping my hand quickly.
"I am not infatuated with him." I grumbled. I sat down on the couch, barely registering that I had chosen the spot he'd been sitting, and began to replay my failed battle in my mind. I'd been doing fine, I thought, until the Confuse Ray. Things had gone downhill quickly from there. Then I pressed the heel of my palm to my forehead. "I had Burned Golbat! It would have continued to take damage! I should have focused on trying to avoid attacks instead of going on the offensive!" That was my first mistake. My second was obviously running into the wall, and my third was without a doubt biting my own tail with a Thunder Fang. Man, I hated the Confused status. I felt like such an idiot! Next time, I wouldn't make such stupid mistakes.
With a determined frown, I stood, walking to the bathroom and filling the tub with water. Soon I was back in Houndoom form, ignoring the pain in my shoulder as I sent Ember after Ember into the water in an effort to strengthen my power. My hopes that Ember would "evolve" into a Flamethrower. Although Houndoom could learn Inferno at level one, I wanted a strong Fire Type move with good accuracy. Sure, Inferno's base power of 100 was impressive, but it's accuracy of 50% left much to be desired. Flamethrower had a base power of 90, only 10 less than Inferno, and had a much better accuracy of 99%. So I worked and I trained. I wasn't going to lose next time.
Well, that's the end of this chapter. Now, regarding my accuracy measures: I know that Flamethrower has an accuracy of 100% but to me, 100% means always. Flamethrower is not an auto-hit move. So, a move that has a 100% accuracy in the games will be "downgraded" to a move with 99% accuracy in this story. Only auto-hit moves like Aerial Ace or Feint Attack will have an accuracy of 100%.
That's it. Read, review, don't flame. Keep an eye out for the next chapter! LDR out!
