CHAPTER 3: DEEKS HEARS ABOUT KENSI'S ACCIDENT...
DEEKS P.O.V.
I had just gotten home and was still thinking about what Kensi had said today.
She had said she 'wanted me out of her head.' When I had first walked into the bullpen, I could tell she was dreaming about something good.
Later when I suggested I could take her home she had yelled 'NO' pretty loud and it was then that I got the idea she was dreaming about me.
I have to admit I've dreamed about her to...a lot more since we went undercover as Justin and Melissa.
For a long time we've been telling everyone there is no 'thing' between us. What is there is though? I wonder if that's what she was dreaming...
I was brought out of my thoughts when my cell phone rang and I looked at the caller I.D. seeing that it was one of the few friends I had at the LAPD.
"Hey, long time..." I began, but was interrupted when he told me that Kensi had been in an accident.
At first I didn't want to believe it.
He knew about my working with Kensi at NCIS and now as calling to tell me she was on her way to hospital. She had been fighting to live when he arrived after someone had called the accident in.
Hearing the words accident and then hearing it was Kensi...one thought came to mind.
'No! This couldn't be real, if I had just given her a ride she wouldn't have gotten into the accident on her way home.'
"All right, where?" I asked numb at the thought that Kensi was fighting for her life.
I thanked him, and then once again grabbed my keys and wallet before heading out the door. I left and started to make my way to the hospital.
I was about to go crazy when it seemed I hit every red light on the way there.
PACIFIC BEACH MEDICAL...
When I reached the hospital and after finding out Kensi was in surgery I made my way to the surgical floor.
THE SURGICAL WAITING ROOM...
I was greeted by the sight of Hetty, Callen, Sam, Eric and Nell.
I made my way over to them wondering if they had heard any news yet...
"How..." Was all I could say and when they looked at me I feared the worst. "We were told she was fighting when they brought her in and she was taken off to surgery." Callen said telling me what I already knew.
"I knew I should have taken her home." I said feeling guilty. "Mr. Deeks, there is no way you could..." Hetty began. "She was falling asleep all day and now..." I couldn't go on.
After that we all fell into a silence and it seemed forever before a doctor entered the waiting room his scrubs covered in blood.
"Is there anyone here for, Kensi Blye?" He asked. "Yes, we are." Hetty spoke up stepping forward to greet the doctor.
"Are you Henrietta Lange...?" The doctor asked. "I am how is Ms. Blye?" Hetty asked. "Ms. Blye came through the surgery fine and we were able to stop the internal bleeding...however she has slipped into a coma." The doctor told us.
I just stared at the doctor unsure if I had heard right...Kensi was in a coma?
"Will she be all right?" I heard myself asking and knew it was a stupid question, but I had to know.
"Only time will tell, but I can tell you her chances are pretty good though. She has fought this long and is still fighting." The doctor replied.
"When can we see her?" I questioned wanting desperately to go see Kensi to make sure she was really alive.
"Right now she is in recovery, so I would say not until tomorrow morning." The doctor replied and then he left the waiting room.
Even though it had been a long day and I was exhausted, I intended to stay awake until I can see my partner.
I watched as Hetty sat down in a chair, Sam and Callen sat not far away from her talking, Nell and Eric sitting in two seats talking as well.
I could feel my head leaning back against the wall and my eyes beginning to close. I sat up and shook my head trying to shake the sleep away.
THIRD PERSON P.O.V.
"I think he's fighting a losing battle trying to stay awake." Callen told Sam and Sam looked over at Deeks before nodding. "Yeah, he'll be asleep soon. Remember how Kensi acted when he was shot? How she held onto his watch and badge?" Sam inquired and this time it was Callen's turn to nod.
"Yeah, but Kensi was not shot or on the job. I told her to go home." Callen said feeling just as guilty as Deeks. "It's not your fault G. and even though Deeks is blaming himself...it's not his fault either. We all know how stubborn Kensi can be." Sam said and then they both fell into silence.
Deeks had finally lost the battle of trying to stay awake; his head was now leaned back against the wall with his eyes closed.
They all sat worried about Kensi.
Though the 'thing' Kensi and Deeks seemed to be telling everyone didn't exist? It was clear that they were both lying and anyone could see more than a mile away how much Deeks and Kensi cared for each other.
It went deeper than just friendship or work partners.
