Chapter 3

Rose shifts her weight from her heels, to the tips of her toes. She glances at where Madison crouches, the older Octoling didn't show any sign of discomfort. Rose frowns, and focuses her attention back on the tunnel entrance. She flexes her fingers, and scowls when she finds that they had fallen asleep. Rose shakes out her hands, then grips the Octobrush in her hands once again. Rose looks away from the tunnel, and looks towards where she knows Stella and Emmy are hidden. She smiles, and tries to stifle a laugh when she remembers that stealth and hiding was something neither of the pair was good at. Rose could just make out the tips of Emmy's green hair, and the top of Stella's red hair. Rose tilts her head, and can just make out Emmy and Stella whispering. She actually laughs out loud this time, but immediately shuts up when she hears a warning hiss from Madison. Rose sighs, and settles her attention back onto the tunnel entrance.

Madison's voice comes over the headset that all of The Octolings are wearing, "Stay sharp. On my command you are to attack."

Rose grins, and heft's the Octobrush up higher. She crouches down, but this time it's so she will be able to spring forward at Madison's command. Rose's eyes narrow when she sees movement by the tunnel. She tenses up, waiting for Madison's command. She had been itching for a fight all day, and finally it was here. A male Inkling steps out of the tunnel, he has purple hair that's slicked back, and he's carrying a Blaster. The next Inking is another male, except his hair is orange and it's in a ponytail. Rose scowls when she sees he's carrying a Splatterscope, it was one of the only weapons she had trouble going against. Rose gasps when the final figure steps into the light, it's a female, but she isn't an Inkling. Rose looks at Madison, and sees that she's shocked too.

"What do we do now?" Stella's voice comes over the headset.

Madison shakes her head, "Continue with the mission, but-" She is cut off as Chelsea and Kaycee spring out of their spot and charge at the Inklings, and Octoling.

"Damn it! Go!" Madison yells, as she bursts out of her spot to catch up with Chelsea and Kaycee.

"Did I interrupt something?" Alex asks as she walks back into the living room.

"No. No, you're fine. Renka left is all." Calleigh replies.

"Oh, sorry about that."

Calleigh glances at Mikmic, and nods, but doesn't say anything.

"Did you get what you needed to track Meeka?" Mikmic asks.

Alex nods, a small smile forming on her face. "Yes, I did. But I need your phone, Calleigh. Since you were the one to call her."

Calleigh hands her phone to Alex, but still doesn't say anything. She just stares down at her feet.

"I'll be right back, this will take just a moment." Alex calls over her shoulder as she walks back out of the living room.

O-O-O

"Ambush! Get out of here Meeka!" Finley shouts, as he aims the Blaster at an orange haired Octoling.

"No! I'm not leaving you!" Meeka shouts back as she settles into a defensive stance, and aims the Splat Dualies.

Finley turns towards her to shout something, but is cut off when a shot from a charger hits him square in the chest. He immediately crumples to the ground in a heap, and doesn't move.

"Finley!" Meeka moves to go towards him, but an Octoling with purple hair steps out in front of her.

Meeka glares at the Octoling and grips the Splat Dualies firmly.

"Get out of the way."

"Not a chance. Come with us quietly, and I'll spare your friend." The Octoling smirks.

Meeka tenses up, then darts forward and pulls the trigger on both of her Splat Dualies, a couple of shots hit the Octoling in the chest, but it doesn't seem to phase her at all. Meeka backs away, and watches the Octoling, trying to figure out what her next move will be.

"Last chance." The Octoling says, as she lifts up her own weapon, an Octoshot.

Meeka lifts her own weapons up in response.

"Meeka! Look out!" Denny shouts at her.

Meeka immediately turns, and feels the full force of a brush hit her. She feels herself go flying, and then everything goes dark.

O-O-O

Calleigh glances around the living room, then messes around with the edge of her shirt, wrapping it around her fingers, then unwrapping it again. She continues to do this to her shirt until she hears footsteps, and looks up. Calleigh sighs in relief when she sees Alex standing there.

"Do you want the good news or the bad news first?" She asks.

"Let's hear the good news." Mikmic says as she stands up.

Alex nods, "Good news is, I know where she is. Bad news is, she's in Octo Canyon."

"We have to go immediately." Calleigh says leaping up from the couch.

"Think, Calleigh. We need backup before we go there." Mikmic says.

"I'm backup." Alex offers.

Calleigh glances at Alex, "We need backup for our backup."

"I know someone." Mikmic says, a grin starting to form on her face.

O-O-O

Denny watches as Finley gets taken out by a charger. He turns towards where the shot was fired, and sees an Octoling with red hair. Denny aims, and shoots, his shot hits the Octoling full force in the face. Denny turns back towards Finley, and sees Meeka facing off against an Octoling. He sees an Octoling with a brush, starting to sneak up behind her.

"Meeka! Look out!" He shouts.

Meeka turns, and Denny flinches when the brush Octoling swings and hits her full on in the face. Meeka goes flying, and lands with a loud thump onto the ground.

"Meeka!" Denny screams, and he starts running over to her.

Denny pushes himself to run faster, ignoring all of the Octolings around him. When he's close enough to her, he slides down onto his knees beside her. Denny stretches a hand out, but then everything goes black.

O-O-O

"You've got to be joking. There's no way this Inkling will be able to help us." Alex says, looking at Mikmic.

"We need as many Inklings as we can get. She's an Inkling that will help." Mikmic replies.

"But.. she's insane!"

Mikmic rolls her eyes, and knocks on the door of the house. Right away the door opens.

"Hey! What's going on?" An Inkling with purple pigtails stands in the doorway, a huge grin on her face.

"We.. need your help with something."
