Chapter 3- Pan

Chi-Chi's contractions started late one night, and on a night of a full moon nonetheless! Gohan sensed something was wrong, and when he ran into the room and saw what was wrong, well, Chi-Chi had never seen him run that fast in his life! All in less than an hour, she had been rushed to the hospital by Bulma, with Gohan and Trunks tagging along. The pain was excruciating, even with the epidural.

By the early morning light, Chi-Chi wasn't in muc pain anymore... But she knew the break wouldn't last long. Once she was feeling up to it, Gohan and Trunks visited her. Her son asked her several questions as Trunks climbed up on the bed, resting his hand on Chi-Chi's stomach. The woman looked at him strangely, she could feel something going on between him and the baby, but what, she didn't know.

"Pan," Trunks whispered. "It's time to come out now... Time to come play with me."

And just like that, Chi-Chi was back in labour, her contractions stronger and faster than ever...

Half an hour later, Pan Gabriella Son was born, and to her mother'a standers, she was perfect. Her hair was dark as night, just like Goku's. And wrapped around her waist was a fuzzy little tail.

"Ma'am..." The doctor was shocked. "Your child... She has a tail."

"What are you going to do, Chi?" Bulma raised an eyebrow. "I got Trunks' cut off.. I didn't want to risk him seeing the moon..."

Chi-Chi let out a sigh, "I don't want to risk it either... So I guess it should be cut off as well."

Chi-Chi smiled down at her daughter proudly as she held her in her arms. Finally, it was just the two of them. After cleaning off Pan, the doctors had left, and Bulma had went to fetch Gohan and Trunks so they could see her... She just knew they would love her. She was perfect.

The door creaked open before Gohan rushed inside and stood by his mother'a bed. Trunks trailed behind him, climbing on the bed once he got there.

"Wow..." Gohan whispered. "She's so small..."

"Looks like you were right, son," Bulma smiled at Trunks. "It's a girl."

Trunks smiled as he looked at Chi-Chi. "Mine," he said, pointing at Pan.

"Trunks!" Bulma scolded lightly. "Pan is not yours, she's all of ours, you have to share."

"Don't wanna," Trunks told his mother stubbornly. "Wanna hold her."

"No, let Gohan-"

"It's fine," the teen laughed. "I'll have plenty of time to hold her. Trunks looks eager, so I'll let him."

"You sure?" Bulma raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah!" Gohan nodded happily.

"Okay, Trunks," Chi-Chi said, gently placing Pan in his arms, her hands holding onto the baby's head and back still.

"I can do it by myself," Trunks told her stubbornly, scooting away slightly.

"Trunks!" Bulma sighed.

"It's okay," Chi-Chi laughed lightly. "He's protective of her, that's great!"

"She's adorable, Mom," Gohan smiled, leaning down and kissing Chi-Chi's cheek. "Don't you agree, Trunks?"

"She's beautiful!" Trunks declared, looking at Pan. "Panna," he whispered, and for the first time since she was born, Pan opened her eyes.

Something- no one was quite sure of, but something happened when Trunks' blue eyes met Pan's dark ones. A smile crossed Pan's face, leaving the older three confused. How could a newborn smile...?

Trunks only smiled back, "I told you it would be fun here. Don't worry, I promise that I'm never going to leave you."

Chi-Chi, as well as Bulma and Gohan were confused. Was it just them, or was Trunks talking to Pan as if they had already spoken before? But how could that have even been possible...?

XxXxX

The years passed, and Pan grew more each and every day, Trunks being with her every step of the way. The two of them ha been inseparable since Pan's birth, they were almost always together. Before Pan even knew how to talk, Trunks knew what she wanted, almost as if he had been reading her mind. He even called her Panna, a special nickname that only he could call her... If someone other than Trunks called Pan, Panna, she simply ignored them, and if Trunks heard anyone calling her that he would grow irate.

They were indeed growing up... But Chi-Chi couldn't wait to see what the future held for both of them!

"Gohan!" She yelled, keeping her eyes on Pan.

"Yes?" He ran into the living room where his mother, sister and Trunks were, his school work long forgotten.

"I think it's time you teach Pan how to fly..." Chi-Chi murmured. They watched as Pan jumped several feet in the air before slowly floating back down to the ground as she giggle. Trunks, who was standing a few feet away was cheering her on happily.

Gohan smiled, "okay... I can teach her this weekend. Trunks needs to freshen up as well."

Chi-Chi grimaced, imagining all the trouble three-year-old Pan and seven-year-old Trunks could get into. "Good luck with that...

XxXxX

"Trunks, stop blasting the ground with your feet," Gohan ordered. It was now the weekend and he was trying his best to teach Pan how to fly.

"I'm trying to make myself shoot up faster," Trunks told him. He had done several attempts of shooting out small blast from the bottom of his feet to make him go higher.

"It doesn't work," Gohan muttered.

"Have you tried it before?" Trunks raised his eyebrows as he crossed his arms.

"Well, no..." Gohan admitted.

"Then how do you know it doesn't work?"

Gohan sighed, knowing there was no way of talking himself out of this mess. "Let's just get Pan to fly, okay?"

"Panna's gonna fly!" Trunks shouted, smiling at the girl brightly.

"Okay, Pan-Chan!" Gohan looked at his little sister with a smile. "Remember when I told you to focus your energy on your feet?" Slowly, Pan nodded and he continued, "just do that."

After a minute of focusing, Pan started floating. She gasped before a giggled escaped her mouth. "G-nii, how do I move?" She wiggled her arms slightly.

"Just move your body the way you want it to go," Trunks told her, floating in a circle around her with a grin.

"That's pretty much it," Gohan smiled.

Not ten minutes later, Trunks and Pan were zooming around Capsule Corp with uncontrolled laughter. It wasn't too long before they started inching towards the city.

"Not that far, you guys," Gohan called after them.

Trunks looked at Pan and gave her a slight smirk. "Watch this," he said. "Gohan's too slow," he sung.

Pan giggled, "yeah! He'll never catch us!"

"Haha," Gohan said dully. "Very funny you two, now come back."

"You'll have to catch is first!" The two children laughed in union before taking off into the city.

"Ah, you two are going to get it!" Gohan let out a small laugh before flying after them.
