Chapter Three: Starting Our New Journey

The Inutachi group continued to talk and rest before leaving. Surprisingly it was Kazuo who had suggested for them to start

that day instead of waiting for morning.

"This way we can look for shards at the same time. Besides I refuse to wake up at the crack of dawn to Inuyasha yelling how we're behind schedule." Kazuo said glaring at Inuyasha who merely just smirked.

Now they were walking down an empty path. Kagome was walking beside Inuyasha in the front with Miroku and Sango walking side by side not that far behind him. Kazuo was in the back with Shippo on his shoulder and Kilala beside him.

Kazuo was deep in thought with his hands in his pockets. 'Will they treat me different now that they know I'm Bankotsu's reincarnation?' He thought to himself. He had known for a couple of months now due to getting Bankotsu's memories in his sleep. At first, he didn't know what they were until one-night dream him had seen his reflection. Looking back at him with no doubt in his mind was a young Bankotsu.

He wondered why Kagome hadn't had any dreams about her past life before he realized his had not started until he had physically come in contact with Bakotsu.

'Maybe it was the same for her, but Midoriko's not around, she may need to come into contact with an object of Midoriko's, like her sword. But where is her sword?' He wondered.

Starting to get a headache he shook his head slightly and sighed. Deciding he'll deal with that later before going back to his thoughts about Bankotsu. After realizing he was his reincarnation, Kazuo started to pay attention to his personality and habits. He was slightly surprised to see how much they had in common and wondered how he or anyone else hadn't seen the resemblance sooner.

He had a habit of being ruthless to those he considered his enemy. His friends he realized were like the rest of the band of seven. He wondered if they were their reincarnations too.

He was taken out of his thoughts when he heard a familiar slap. Shaking his head, he watched as Sango kept walking with a huff while Miroku laid sprawled out on the ground.

Continuing his walk, Kazuo bent down while grabbing Miroku by the back of his haori he proceeded to drag the unconscious monk figuring he would wake in the next ten minutes or so.

Looking at Shippo, he smiled when he heard him laugh at Miroku before jumping off his shoulder bounding towards Kagome no doubt planning to antagonize Inuyasha.

"You'll never learn," Kazuo said glancing down at Miroku when he felt him start to stir.

"It's this cursed hand of mine I tell you," Miroku said as Kazuo let go of his haori and helped him stand.

"You seem to be deep in thought," Miroku said glancing at him as he dusted himself off.

"I'm surprised you noticed with how hard you're staring at Sango's ass," Kazuo said dryly causing Miroku to chuckle nervously before clearing his throat.

Kazuo glanced at him and noticed he now had a serious look on his face. "What is on your mind, my friend?" Miroku asked him concerned. For as long as he had known Kazuo, he's never seen him so deep in thought to the point that he accidentally ignores Shippo.

"Just thinking about how similar I am to Bankotsu," Kazuo said.

"You mean the possibility of you being his reincarnation?" Miroku asked.

Kazuo shook his head. "I know I am," Kazuo said before telling Miroku about his dreams.

"Does Kagome know about the dreams?" Miroku asked him.

Kazuo shook his head again. "I don't tell her everything. For example, our father didn't die in a car accident as our mom said. I know he was murdered."

"I'm sorry for your loss, do you know who did it?" Miroku said sympathetically.

Kazuo nodded. "I saw the whole thing; it was Naraku."
