Chapter 3

Sophia POV

While I was waiting for Jake the door bell rang and I heard Bella say hi to someone named Edward. I didn't want to be rude and listen in but with my hearing it's hard not too. I didn't pay much attention to what was going on until I heard him say that a vampire was in her house. I didn't really want to know who this guy was or how he knew about vampires, but I did know that if he could smell that one was here it wouldn't be long till he found me and I wasn't having that. So without hesitation I jumped out my window and ran right into Jake.

"Sophia I thought I told you to wait for me." He said with a disapproving look on his face.

"Well I was but someones here and he knows there was a vampire in the house, I can't take getting caught." I said, my tone reminding him that I'm older and he can't talk to me that way. I know it sounds stupid to be worrying about something like that, but old habits die hard.

We stood their for awhile with Jake looking at me like he had a lot of questions but didn't know where to start. I tried my hardest to let him get his thoughts together, but I've always been an impatient person so finally I snapped. "Alright Jake don't hurt yourself, lets take a walk and I'll telll you everything. But please stop looking at me like that ok!"

"I'm sorry I've just never met a vampire that i ya know knew before they became a vampire." He said starting to walk towards the woods assuming I would follow, which I did.

We walked for what seemed like forever and he just listened while I talked. It felt good to be able to talk to someone, and actually tell them the truth, instead of having to hide and make up lies. But when I was finally done Jake stayed quiet for a awhile and I was begining to regret opening up to him. Finally he stopped walking and started opening and closing his mouth, like he wanted to say something but couldn't figure out what it was.

"Look Jake if you want leave I understand." I finally said when I couldn't take his silence any longer.

"No that's not it, I'm just tryin to figure out what to say."

"Well we've been talking about me this whole time, why don't you tell me about whatever it is that you are and by then maybe you will have your thougths together."

He looked confused for a minute and then seemed to remember that I had seen him go from wolf to human, and back to wolf.

"Oh yeah that, well I'm a shapeshifter."

When I didn't reply he realized that I didn't understand what that meant so he continued.

"See certain people in the tribe are born with this gene that allows us to turn into wolves, but it's only activated when vampires are around and we need to protect the tribe."

"Oh ok so earlier you guys were gonna kill me because you thought your people were in danger?" I asked just to make sure we were on the same page.

"Well yeah until I realized who you were and was able to talk them into letting me explain the treaty to you. They almost didn't let me because they figured the Cullens would've explained it, but when you mentioned that Bella didn't know about you I figured you weren't with the Cullens."

"Um I don't really know who the Cullens are but what does Bella have to do with this?" I asked confused. You'd think with all this extra room in my head I would be able to put two and two together and come up with the answer as fast as I can snap my fingers but apparently I'm a slow vampire.

"Thats right if Bella doesn't know about you then you wouldn't know about her either."

I waited for him to go on and when it became clear he wasn't going to I spoke.

"Umm hello Jake I'm still lost over here." I said sounding annoyed.

"Right just give me a minute to figure out what I can and can't tell you." and he disapeared into the woods.

When he finally came back he answered my unspoken question. "Sorry I had to change in order to communicate with the rest of the pack and find out what I could tell you. So now that's out of the way I just have to figure out where to begin." He said looking a little confused himself.

"Well the begining would be a good start." i say with heavy sarcasm.

"Well thankyou captain obvious." He says reverting back to our old ways, we may not have seen each other in years and we have both changed alot, but once again old habits die hard.

I laughed "Well your welcome seargant sarcasm"

Jake laughed a little and then went serious. "Ok so the the Cullens are a clan of vampires that live on the edge of town, they feed on animals so we have a treaty with them. If they promise to stay off our land and not bite any humans we won't expose them or try and kill them."

"Ok so what does that have to do with Bella?" I asked still confused.

"Well that person that was in your house and could smell you was actually a vampire. Specifically her boyfriend Edward." He said the last two words with disgust so I could tell he wasn't happy with the idea of Bella dating a vampire, actually it seemed like he wasn't to happy with her dating anyone.

I just stood there speechless trying to process everything. I mean here I am afraid to tell my cousin and best friend what happened to me. When not only does she know about vampires but she's dating one. Jake and I started to walk again silently and he seemed fine to stay that way while I got lost in my thoughts.

Ok so Sophia knows about Bella and the Cullens, but they don't know about her yet. Not sure if I should have them find out in the next chapter and then get to the good stuff or if I should drag it out a bit. Let me know what you think, also let me know who you would like to see Sophia with and I might just make it happen. til next time ciao.
