3. Grunting is a National Pastime

I only caught a bit of this match, between a German and Russian tennis player, but it certainly left a lasting impression on me.

"RAAARG!"

Germany easily ran to the ball and lobbed it back over the net.

"HURRAARG!"

She was able to catch with the ball, just barely catching it with the tip of her racket, but it made it over the net, so she wouldn't complain.

"ARRARRAGGH"

It was a lob this time, landing at the front of the court. Germany set her stance and aimed the ball for the far corner. Her efforts were rewarded with the roar of the crowd and another point for her.

It was still Russia's serve.

"HURRARRGARRAGHARRG!"

She knew grunting was a tradition in tennis, but Russia's were a bit over the top, even for her.
