"Evelyn!" A now 13 year old Princess Evelyn ran down the hallway towards her father's voice in their beautiful palace of light. She entered the throne room slowly, where her mother and father waited along with people she had never seen before. "Yes father? You called?" She looked over at the strangers curiously. "Eve…"Frey walked over to his young daughter and took her hands. "My beautiful blossom. You are now of age, and it is time for us to begin preparing you for your future." Evelyn furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Prepare me…?" Nadra walked up beside her husband and smiled at Evelyn. "Prepare you to become queen darling. Your father and I will not be around forever, and you need to be prepared to do what's right for our people." Evelyn nodded her head. "Oh…Okay…"She bit her bottom lip nervously, and then looked back at her father.
"Thor! Loki!" Frigga entered the study where her two sons were. Loki, who was sitting by an open window, looked up from his book. Thor didn't look up, he just continued to play with Mjolnir. "Evelyn will be arriving with her parents soon. You two need to go dress properly." She looked pointedly at Thor. "Thor put that down now. It has been 10 since you have seen each other and I want you both to be on your best behavior." Loki and Thor nodded and watched as Frigga left the room. "So brother, are you ready to see your fiancé." Loki grinned in a condescending kind of way. Thor rolled his eyes. "Shut up Loki." Thor left the room and headed to his room. Why is it me? Why am I the one who has to marry that annoying little girl? He continued to grumble as he entered his room.
Loki was the last to enter the throne room before the light elves would arrive. Like his brother, he was not looking forward to the visit. Last time the three had seen each other, the blasted girl outwitted him in chess. That doesn't happen. He was Loki God of Mischief for crying out loud. He looked over at his brother who stood by Odin's throne, dressed in his best armor. Loki mentally rolled his eyes. Leave it to Thor to wear armor when seeing his fiancé. He felt his body tense when the bells that announced the arrival of the Alfheim leaders. The doors opened and a bright light flooded into the dim room. Loki shielded his eyes with his arm and then lowered it once the light subsided. His breathe caught in his throat when his eyes fell upon the figure approaching them. She was tall, with a slender body that had curves in all the right places. Waves of brown hair tumbled down her back and stopped just above her thighs. She wore a long dress of gold and yellow. It hugged her body nicely and then flared at the knees and trailed behind her in an elegant train. Upon her head was a gold tiara. It resembled a halo almost, with the light gleaming off it. At last his eyes fell to her face. It was no longer chubby and full of freckles. Her face had thinned out, showcasing her lovely cheekbones. Her ears were now pointed like her parents, though on her they looked exquisite. Her lips were full and red like a rose. Her brown waves framed her face perfectly. But what caught him off the guard the most were her eyes. Her eyes were as deep and blue as the sea on a stormy night. When she looked up at him, he swore he almost fell into them. "Evelyn!" Odin's voice boomed in the room, shaking Loki from his trance. He let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. Loki stole a look at his brother. Thor must be thinking the same as him, for he was completely entranced by the light elf before them. Evelyn curtsied low and bowed her head. "It is wonderful to see you again, My Lord." She straightened and smiled warmly at Odin. If Loki had thought Evelyn couldn't possibly get any more beautiful, he was wrong. When she smiled, the whole room seemed to brighten. Loki looked over and saw Thor approach Evelyn.
Evelyn took a deep breath when Thor approached her. My word he has become a beautiful man…She smiled sweetly as he took her small hand into his large one and brought her knuckles to his lips. "Princess Evelyn, it is joyous to see you again. You have truly blossomed into a beautiful woman." He smiled at her, and she was sure she would stop breathing. "Prince Thor, you flatter me. Look at you. You have grown so much in the past ten years." Cool and collected Eve…Cool and collected. Thor grinned at her and then looked away. Evelyn followed his gaze and saw Loki approaching her. Loki bowed elegantly before her. "Princess, it is wonderful to see you again." She smiled when he straightened and looked at her. "Prince Loki, I've heard you have become quite the sorcerer." Loki nodded and smiled charmingly at her. "And I have heard of the enchantress you have become Princess." Eve's breath caught in her throat when he smiled at her. They were such handsome men. She laughed lightly. "Yes, we will have to get together sometime and see who is better." Loki grinned at her, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I look forward to it." Frigga took their silence as an opportunity to walk up to the small reunion. Evelyn curtsied deeply when she saw the queen approach. "Oh stop with the formalities. We will be family very soon." Frigga smiled and opened her arms. Evelyn giggled and wrapped her arms around Frigga's slim waist. Frigga held her at arm's length and looked her up and down. "Oh Eve. You have become such an elegant and beautiful woman." Frigga looked back at Frey and Nadra, who were standing a small distance from the exchange. "You look so much like your mother." She smiled warmly at Eve then stepped away to greet the Alfheim King and Queen. Evelyn turned back to the two princes before her. "So Thor, I have heard you've become a wonderful strategist. Would you be up for game of chess sometime?" She grinned at him, mischief flashing in her blue eyes. "Oh no, I will not be roped into that again. I will not be tricked by you anymore." His voice was light but she knew he meant what he was saying. Evelyn giggled softly and then looked around the throne room. "Nothing has changed here I see. It is precisely the same as it was ten years ago." The two princes nodded. "The palace is the same; all that has changed are its inhabitants." Loki smiled and started to head for the exit. "Shall we visit the gardens? It is probably the only place in Asgard that HAS changed." Evelyn nodded and smiled. "I would love to see the gardens again." Thor looked back at the kings and queens. They were so deep in discussion that they wouldn't even notice that the three had left.
Loki led the way to the gardens with Thor and Eve trailing behind. "So…"Thor looked around nervously. "So…?"Eve grinned up at him. "So, we will be married soon." It was a more of a statement then a question. Eve nodded. "Yes, we will. My mother had been planning for years." She let out a small laugh. "I cannot believe it." Evelyn looked around the empty corridor they were passing through. "I will live here for a year with you and after that year is up we will be getting married." Eve lifted her arms and folded them behind her head as they walked. Thor and Loki continued to walk in silence. Evelyn looked between the two then looked ahead at the door that led to the gardens. Loki opened the door and the Trio exited the long hallway. Evelyn took and deep breathe and sighed happily. "I always loved this place." She picked up her skirts and walked further into the garden. She looked around at all the flowers and trees. "Everything has grown!" She laughed and walked faster towards the tree in the very center of the garden. "Wow…" She laughed and looked back at the two. "Do you remember when we used to climb this tree? It's bigger then I remember."
Evelyn's happiness was contagious. Thor found himself smiling as the beautiful girl walked around the tree, talking of her memories from their past. He was speechless. He couldn't believe that this woman was the same of the girl he and his brother used to torment. She was so different. She was sophisticated, yet she still had that mischievous glint in her eye. He looked over at Loki, who was also staring at Evelyn. "It is crazy, isn't it brother?" Loki glanced at him. "What is?" Thor chuckled and looked back at Evelyn, who was now walking towards one of the four fountains in the garden. "How much she has changed since we were children." Loki nodded in agreement. "We have all changed brother." Loki's answer was vague, but Thor didn't push and continued to walk towards Eve.
Loki watched as a stream of water lifted into the air from the fountain. It twirled in the air, like a ribbon dancing on the wind. He caught a glimpse of Evelyn, who was controlling the water just by waving her finger subtly. He was impressed. It took a lot of practice to perfect magic without effort. She was obviously well trained. Loki looked at the ribbon and imagined it swirling around Evelyn and then diving back into the river. He chuckled at Eve's face. "I'm impressed Loki, you must be powerful to be able to cut into my magic." She walked over to the two and stood before them. Loki noticed that though she was tall she still fell short to the two Asgardian Princes. Loki smirked. "Though you are extremely skilled and powerful, my magic cannot be overcome." Evelyn looked up at him, a challenge twinkling in her eye. "Is that so?" Loki nodded and looked at Thor, who was looking at Evelyn. Evelyn laughed lightly and made eye contact with Loki. "Oh I love a good challenge." Loki grinned and winked at her. "Try and catch me."
Holy cow yall. My inspiration has been squashed lately. I find it funny that The story I was most excited about and planned the most has ran dry (I'm still yours), while the stories that I am seriously just winging it are coming to me easily (Try and catch me and Beauty and the beast). It makes me sad…But I've been rewatching Sherlock so inspiration is coming to me. Aha. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Comment and review! Tata!
