Hey peoples! Missed ya all! :P
I try to update sooner, i really do. Either I'm busy or just to lazy, until NOW that is :D
Anyway, back to FMA. Ed is by far my fav character in the series (Do NOT kill me hardcore fangirls…) and the second would have to be… Roy Mustang. I don't think i have to say why, i mean come ON, he's a badass flame alchemist and he seems to enjoy pissing off Ed. (Which i find hilarious XD) The only thing funnier is when Ed's spazzing out when people call him short.
Oh and I've decided since there is no alchemy, Izumi will be a ninja kind of fighter, and also good with street fist fighting. So those special skills will replace alchemy. (Also an escape artist and medical skills- I'm skipping the medical though)
If i DID own FMA (Which i don't sadly..) then EdxWinry would have already happened a long time ago. Although, apparently it DID in the end of FMA brotherhood. (I only saw that big family photo from the end credits)
Oh, and i guess i DID update something else before christmas. Its 2 in the morning dec 24th (christmas eve), so;
MERRY CHRISTMAS GUYS! :D
I know i already said it, but oh well, happy holidays :P
START OF CHAPTER:
"Come on Ed! That punch was pathetic!" Izumi taunted, knowing full well that Ed would take the bait, which he did.
Izumi was making good on her promise. She was teaching Ed everything she knew about fighting and survival. Well, not yet any survival training, but that would come soon enough. The thought made her chuckle.
"What are you laughing about?" Ed snapped, Izumi stopped laughing and smirked. An amusing lie came to mind.
"I'm laughing cause you can't fight worth a damn." The seven year old fuming, and diving head first to attack. Izumi easily side-stepped and Ed crashed to the ground.
This is how it went for a few months, while Riza and Roy gained legal custody of Ed. As more time went by, Ed got better and better at fighting, Izumi and her husband Sig were impressed someone so young could learn to fight so well. Once though, Ed had fallen while trying to climb up a tree, and when Izumi ran to help, he accidentally called her mum. While Izumi and Sig thought it was sweet in a way, it was a little awkward at first, but Ed didn't notice.
Right in the middle of teaching Ed how to fight, Izumi randomly decided to take him out to an island fairly near her home, but far enough that swimming back was impossible.
"You stay here, if you survive the month, your real training will start."
And with that Sig rowed the two of them away, despite Ed's rather loud and colourful protests. So now he was on his own. Again.
And so, Edward had to build himself a shelter every night, learn how to build and start fires with two sticks. Plus he could have sworn he saw somebody strange lurking in the bushes, which freaked him out a little. Make that a lot. Thankfully he was left with a machete, so he was able to cut branches for shelters and such. During that time he got pretty good at handling knives. All in all, he could now survive in the wild on his own, impressive for a seven (Almost eight) year old boy.
When he got back, Izumi acted like nothing happened.
"Oh, you're back." She said upon his return, relaxing on the couch as if she didn't just leave a boy alone on an island for whole month.
"Yes, ms Curtis, I'm back."
"Ed! For the last time, just call me Izumi."
"Yes ms- yes Izumi." Izumi smiled at that. Ed seemed to be the only person she would smile so much at, other than her husband. They had a mutual understanding of each other, although izumi could seem really harsh and uncaring at times, he looked up to her as a favourite aunt of sorts, and vice versa.
"Come on Edward, lets train some more." She said softly, he nodded eagerly and both went outside to a field next to her home. They stood across from each other and nodded at each other, before charging at the same time.
Ed swing a punch, but izumi dodged slightly to the left and aimed a kick at ed's ribs, which he also dodged. Then he swung his foot attempting to trip her up but izumi jumped over it and swung a right hook at his stomach, which connected and sent ed tumbling over. Ed attempted to swing himself up to his feet but failed and instead sent himself sailing into a tree. He made no sound.
"Ed!" Izumi cried, sprinting over to where ed had smashed into the tree. She reached him and skidded on her knees.
"Ed! say something!" She might seem indifferent sometimes, but ed was like family to her. He stirred and opened his eyes.
"Ed! You're okay right?" She asked worriedly. Ed looked at her, eyes dazed foe a moment, then he chuckled weakly. Izumi looked at him with an incredulous look, why was he laughing?
"That was nothing, lets train some more." She was impressed by his determination, but in reality he had to rest. She went to help him up, but felt a slight bleeding in the back of his head. With a clean bandage he would be fine in a few days.
"If you're so sure then, try and walk." He slowly stood up, but tripped.
"Well then," Izumi chuckled "Lets get you inside."
She helped him inside and laid him down on the bed in his room. While he was bed-ridden for those few days she taught him everything she could about how to escape certain holds (e.g. chokehold, sleeper hold) and the stability and weaknesses of doors and all other manners of escape.
(Don't ask me cause I'm not really sure myself about the doors thing, you'll see later on when Ed cleverly escapes from somewhere)
One night, Ed had just fallen asleep and so was Sig. So izumi decided to call Riza to see how ed's adoption was going. She would be sad to see him leave, but she resolved to visit him a lot. At least ed would be able to defend himself, in the time Izumi taught him he had gotten better than most men she knew.
On the second ring, Roy answered their phone.
"Hello, Roy Mustang speaking."
"Its me Roy."
"Oh, hello izumi, how have you been?"
"Im fine thanks Roy. Hey i know this is sudden, but do you know Ed's birthday?"
"….Yes, its the 11th of october, why?" (1)
"Thats in two days."
"Oh, me and Riza will come for a visit to celebrate, is that alright?"
"Of course Roy, speaking of Ed, hows the adoption going?"
"….Im not sure, Riza knows more than i do about it. I'll talk to her and have her call you back, okay?"
"Okay, good luck you two,"
"Thank you Izumi, good-bye." And with that Roy hung up the phone. Izumi hung hers up as well.
She heard the door creak, and discovered Ed in the middle of the hallway, heading towards the kitchen. She snuck up behind Ed and stated calmy.
"So thats who's been raiding the ridge at night."
Ed jumped with a small shriek and turned to Izumi with wide eyes, like a deer caught in headlights.
"Aunt Izumi, I'm sorry i was just hungry." Izumi liked his rare gold eyes, and his high-ish voice reminded her that no matter how good ed was at fighting or escaping, he was still a child. She would protect what innocence he had left. (2)
"Who were you talking to? Was it mum?" She blinked, not believing what she just heard.
"Mum?" (3)
"Yeah! Riza and Roy are my new mum and dad, i heard you talking on the phone." He smiled brightly, and she couldn't help the grin that spread across her face too.
"It was Roy on the phone Edward."
"YAY! Are they coming to visit?"
"Yes Edward, they're coming in a couple of days." It made Izumi happy to see the even wider grin spread across Ed's face. It took a few minutes to calm him down and get him to pick a snack.
After that, she made him a sandwich and put him back to bed. She sat down in a chair in the lounge room, a smile on her lips.
"You're one special kid Ed."
END OF CHAPTER:
Okay, i may have had Ed accept them as parents a bit to quickly, but these thing CAN happen, no matter how little sense it makes. And Ed IS a child, with most of his innocence still intact, only he can defend himself and escape from fight holds and prisons. So sorry if the sudden "mum" and "dad" was a bit to quick for you.
I base what i know off the anime, the original FMA, and NOT FMA-brotherhood.
NOTES;
1- October 11 is Ed's birthday in my fic, i tried to find his actual birthday but google was useless and i could only find his birth YEAR (1899), not the date. That was the best answer so i just went with it.
2- In the anime Izumi is seen as harsh and badass, she will still be badass, but for the sake of family moments and being easier to write, she will be more emotional and caring.
3- And i say "mum" not "mom" cause i live in AUS where 'mum' or 'ma' is more common, I've heard in America they say 'mom' but where i live we say it differently.
If anything is unclear to you or you wanna ask me something about the story, PM me and i will do my best to answer your question.
Now for my signature sign off, i hope you liked my update
Cya next chapter :D
