"Kaname."
A knight in shining armor.
That which strives to be everything that was and ever will be honor. Beside me, a...faithful steed, I suppose.
Madoka had given me such an important task. Homura truly needed our savior; just as I had, once upon a dream. The orchestra reached. The director held his breath.
We broke past Kyubey's defenses easy. Madoka straggled behind.
"What are you..?"
"Go on without me."
Without a repeat order, I reluctantly carried forward, into the Witch's maze.
By the time I saw Madoka again, she had already sown the seeds what she really had in mind.
"...sn't truly matter either way, does it?"
Mami stopped. Her face was drawn in, concerned. "Was that Akemi?"
God damn it.
I had tried to convince her to come to a restaurant. Eating was always pleasant, and we didn't have to be around someone who had become about as much fun as a piece of wood.
Well. A piece of wood that could kick ass like no one knew, but boring none the less. And really, why would I care what Homura was up to, when I had someone so reactive beneath me-
"No, wait. Listen. That's her, isn't it?"
"...doka. I'm so ready to end this. Are you real? God, it hurts."
Mami sat up fully, staring down the hall. "Hello? Homura?"
I felt a momentary sense of deja vu when the wave hit me, and I was sent cascading backwards. Mami reacted faster, and had managed to grab onto the bench.
The moment passed when the wave ended in a flash, as if it had never been. By the time I collected myself and looked around, there was no sign of reason for that to ever have been.
