Here we go. A new chapter of Xrossing to the Truth. First off, I'm VERY sorry for not updating sooner. With everything in my life, going on, I haven't had the chance to write anything but College papers. Hopefully, I can update better, though I doubt it. Anyway, onto the recap: Last time, Taiki makes a new friend, Yu Narukami and both experience strange dreams. Yu meets two people named Igor and Margaret and Taiki encounters a man named Philemon and a Digimon called Seermon. Both teens shall encounter a mystery that will take their time in Inaba to figure out. And now to go on with the fic.

Welcome to Inaba! The First Day of Many!

The train has finally stopped at Yasoinaba Station. Taiki and Yu have walked out and began taking in the scenery.

"So what time is your uncle supposed to pick us up, Yu-sempai?" Taiki asked.

"4 o'clock." Yu said. He then looked at his cell phone and saw that it was the appointed time.

"Over here!" A voice called out. The two turned to see a man waving at them. He had black hair, gray eyes, and a scruff on his chin. He had a dark dress shirt with a red necktie, and was gripping a jacket over his shoulder.

Taiki and Yu walked over to him. He held out his hand, which Yu and Taiki each took.

"Well now, you two look better in person than your photos." The man said. "Welcome to Inaba. I'm Ryotaro Dojima. I'll be looking after you while you're here."

"I'm Yu Narukami." Yu introduced himself.

"And I'm Taiki. Taiki Kudo." The goggle headed boy said.

"Yeah, I know. Let's see… I'm your mother's brother… and that pretty much sums it up. In fact, I use to change your diapers." Dojima said to Yu's embarrassment.

He then turned to Taiki. "And I was friends with your mother for years, so she's told me a lot about how you've been doing. I'll admit. It feels strange that it's going to be in reverse." To which Taiki chuckled at.

Taiki then gazed and found a little girl trying to hide behind Dojima's leg.

The girl looked about 6 with brown pigtailed hair with matching colored eyes. She had a pink top over a white long sleeved shirt. She also wore a maroon skirt, white stockings and pink shoes.

Dojima followed Taiki's gaze and gently pushed her out in front.

"This here is my daughter. Come on Nanako. Introduce yourself to your cousin and his friend."

The girl, Nanako, looked shy. "Hello." She greeted shyly, before blushing and running behind Dojima to which he looked amused.

"What are you so shy for?" He asked, to which Nanako got mad and smacked him in the leg. "Ow!" Dojima chuckled, to Yu and Taiki's amusement. Nanako merely looked embarrassed.

Dojima then turned his attention to his new charges. "Well then…let's get going. My car's over there." With that, he and Nanako started heading to a van. Yu and Taiki adjusted the bag on their shoulders and made to leave, not noticing that their Xros Loaders fell out of their pockets.

"Taiki, wait!" "Yu, hold on!" The problem was neither Taiki nor Yu heard their partners, but fortunately, someone who was passing them noticed what happened and picked the Xros Loaders up.

"Hey." Taiki and Yu turned to the voice. It was a girl who appeared to be around Yu's age. She had black hair just above her shoulders, and green eyes. She wore a sleeveless white shirt, a black necktie, and a red checkered skirt. She also wore a black belt with a gold heart buckle. She also wore black and white striped stockings and black and red long sleeved gloves. Taiki also made note of the red choker with a gold padlock.

"You dropped these." The girl said, holding up the Xros Loaders. The boys' eyes widened as they checked their pockets.

"Thanks." Yu said, taking his back and putting it away.

"Whatever. I just picked them up." The girl said.

"Thank you anyways. I don't know what I would do without this." Taiki said, smiling as he took his Xros Loader back. The girl looked away, then turned and left.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Dojima called out, grabbing the boys' attention.

"Come on, Taiki let's hurry." Yu said, turning to leave.

"Right behind you, Sempai." Taiki said, putting his Xros Loader away.

However, no one noticed the figure that had arrived and gazed at Taiki since he still had his Xros Loader out.

"Interesting. A new Hunter has arrived in Inaba. I wonder how he will change things around here." With that, the figure vanished, not knowing that two people with Xros Loaders had come into town.

The drive was mostly silent as the two newcomers of Inaba were gazing out the windows. Yu was thinking about how his year here was going to be while Taiki was thinking about two things. He was not only thinking about how his friends were doing back in Tokyo, but also thinking about the girl he and Yu ran into.

While he was grateful to her for returning his Xros Loader, he couldn't help but think how peculiar she seemed. It was as if she was confused about something. Taiki made a note that if he ever saw her again, he would see if he can help her out. After all, he may be in a new town, but he still cannot and will not turn his back on those in need.

Dojima stopped at Moel Gas Station in Inaba's Shopping District.

"Hi! Welcome to Moel!" The attendant said, coming up to meet the car.

Dojima turned to Nanako. "Can you go to the bathroom by yourself?" He asked. "Uh-huh." Nanako nodded.

The four got out of the car to stretch their legs. Dojima turned to talk to the attendant while Nanako was looking around for the restroom.

The attendant noticed and turned to talk. "Restroom's in the back to your left. You know which way's left? The side you don't hold your chopsticks in."

Nanako puffed her cheeks at those words. "I know. Geez." With that. Nanako made her way to the restroom.

The attendant noticed Yu and Taiki and couldn't help but ask. "Are you taking a trip?"

"No. We just went to pick them up." Dojima answered. "They just moved here from the big city."

"The city, huh?" The attendant pondered.

"Fill up my car while you're at it. Regular will be fine." Dojima said.

"Right away, Sir!" Dojima looked around. "Good a time as any…" With those words, Dojima walked off.

"Are you in high school?" Taiki and Yu turned their attention to the attendant and saw that it was a woman.

"Yeah, we are." Yu said.

"My first year, in fact." Taiki said.

"Does it surprise a couple of city boys to see how little there is out here?" She asked, then continued. "There's so little to do, I'm sure you'll get bored fast."

"I kind of like it, helps me get away from it all." Taiki said, since he technically is here to take a break from the action he's been through.

"Is that so? Well in any case, you'll either be hanging out with your friends or doing part-time jobs." The attendant said. "Speaking of which, we're actually looking for part-time help right now." She then walked up to the two. "Can you give it some thought? We don't mind if you're students." She then held out a hand and Yu took to shake it.

"Thanks, we will." He said. The attendant then turned and shook Taiki's hand.

"We appreciate the offer miss…?" Taiki trailed off.

"Nami." The attendant said. "Call me Nami."

"Oh! I better get back to work." With that, Nami turned and headed to the pump just as Nanako was coming by. All of a sudden, Yu and Taiki felt a bit of a headache.

"Are you two okay? Did you get carsick?" Nanako asked, concerned. "You two don't look too good." That was when Dojima came by and noticed them looking a little worse for wear.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Dojima asked.

"It's probably the long trip here." Yu said.

"Yeah. A train car is not exactly the best place to sleep." Taiki said.

"That's understandable. Why not take a little walk? Get some fresh air in you? Just let me know when you're ready to go." The boys took Dojima's advice and walked around.

Yu noticed that for a market street, the place is like a ghost town. There was hardly anyone in sight. "Pretty quiet." He said.

"Hey Yu-sempai, how about we use our Xros Loaders and check out DigiQuartz?" Yu nodded at Taiki's suggestion.

They took out their Xros Loaders and opened a window to view DigiQuartz and were surprised. It was the exact opposite of their side. Every shop is filled to the brim with customers.

"Whoa. I've never seen so many Digimon at once." Yu said.

"I wonder why this place is booming so much." Taiki said.

"Well, Nene's been keeping tabs on DigiQuartz." Taiki looked at Shoutmon through the Xros Loader. "And according to her reports, before you guys arrived, there are only two Xros Loaders in all of Inaba."

"Only two?!" Taiki and Yu shouted.

"Well, this place is a quiet town on the human side, remember? With that in mind, there's hardly trouble on the DigiQuartz side that isn't already taken care of."

"Any information on who the Hunters are? Maybe they can help us with the trouble that's supposed to be coming." Taiki said.

"Sorry, I don't have a clue. The only thing I could tell you is that one of the Hunters is a girl. No information on what age or her partner. And there's nothing on the other Hunter. Whoever he or she is must like privacy."

Yu then shook his head. "Come on Taiki, we'll try to find out who the Hunters are later. Right now, I just want to settle in a bit, and find out what the trouble is supposed to be."

Taiki nodded and dismissed the window and jumped. For there was a girl right in front of him and he only noticed her just now. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that it was the same girl from before.

"Hey…have we met before? And I don't mean at the station." Taiki and Yu looked confused.

"I don't think so." Yu said.

"I'm pretty sure I would remember someone like you. Thanks again for picking these up, by the way." Taiki said, holding up his Xros Loader.

The girl looked at the Xros Loader, as if she's seen one before.

"Do you…recognize this?" Taiki asked, noticing the look.

"I…don't know." The girl said. She then shook her head. "Never mind. Forget it." With that, the girl walked away. Taiki couldn't help but be worried.

"Sure hope she'll be okay." Taiki said, wanting to help but not knowing how.

"Come on Taiki, we better get back to my uncle." Yu said. "…Alright, Yu-sempai." With that, the two boys make their way to Dojima.

The drive to the Dojima house was short. Probably because Dojima knew all of the shortcuts. Taiki and Yu took a good look at the place since they'll be living here for the next year.

Evening had arrived, and everyone was seated at the table, preparing to eat a meal.

"Alright. Let's have a toast." Dojima said, grabbing his drink. This prompted everyone else to do the same. They all raised their drink, and then helped themselves.

Dojima then turned to Yu. "So… Your parents are busy as always… they're working overseas, right?" Yu nodded.

Dojima then turned to Taiki. "And your mom wanted you to take it easy since an incident during your middle school graduation put you in the hospital. What did happen anyway?" Taiki was nervous since it was best to keep the Digimon a secret.

"Well rumor has it there was a bomb during graduation. A large piece of debris fell on top of me after the explosion." He said, trying to lie as little as possible, considering there was an explosion in that fight with the Vajramon.

Fortunately, Dojima seemed to buy it. Nanako on the other hand looked worried at the story.

Dojima sighed. "I know it's only for a year, but getting stuck in a place like this because of your parents… It's rough being a kid." He then shook his head. "Well, it's only me and Nanako here, so it'll be nice having someone like you around. So long as you're here, you're part of the family, so make yourselves at home." Yu and Taiki nodded at that.

"Thank you, I'll do just that." Yu said.

"Yes, Sir!" Taiki said, which startled Dojima.

"Uh… Right. Are you into military stuff?"

Yu and Taiki couldn't help but snort at the question. "Well… I have been called 'General' from time to time." Taiki said. Yu chuckled at the private joke. Dojima and Nanako looked confused, but let it go.

"Well, anyway… Let's eat." With Dojima's words, they digged in. Or they would have if his phone didn't go off.

He let out a groan. "Who's calling at this hour?" Reluctantly, he picked up. "Dojima speaking."

Whatever it was about, it made Dojima stand up and walk off to where no one could overhear.

"Yeah? I see? Where is it?" From the look of Dojima's face, it wasn't good news. "All right. I'm on my way." He hung up and looked at his phone. "Looks like I made the right choice to skip the booze…" He muttered.

He turned to face the others. "Sorry, but I gotta go take care of some business. Go ahead and eat without me." Knowing what he was going to say, Nanako stood up.

"I don't know how late I'll be. Nanako, you help them out, okay?" Nanako looked glum, but she nodded.

As Dojima walked out, he saw the weather outside. "Nanako, it's raining out. What did you do with the laundry?" He called out.

"I already brought it in!" She said back.

"All right. I'm off." Dojima said, leaving.

Nanako sat back down and grabbed the remote, turning the TV onto the weather report showing rain for most of tomorrow.

"Let's eat." Nanako said, turning her attention to dinner.

Yu, wanting to break the silence, decided to break the ice. "So, Nanako, what does your dad do?" Although Taiki could answer that, he understood Yu wanted to break the tense mood.

"He's a detective." Yu was surprised by this, but Taiki nodded. "Yeah, I remember my mom telling me about that."

"And now for the local news." The announcer on TV said, catching their attention. A photo was shown of the city council secretary. "Taro Nametame is under fire for a rumored affair with a female reporter." The photo switched to that of an enka sensation. "His wife, Misuzu Hiragi, revealed that she will likely pursue damages for this. As such, any televised appearences of Mayumi Yamano have been canceled until further notice." The image had switched to that of said reporter. "Until this matter is resolved, she will continue to be outside the public eye."

"This is boring." Nanako said, switching the channel, much to Yu and Taiki's relief. That would have made for an awkward conversation if she started asking questions.

"Then again, we could always deflect her to Dojima." Taiki thought.

The channel switched to a commercial for the big shopping center, Junes. "Come see our products and we'll prove to you that at Junes, every day is Customer Appreciation Day." It wrapped up with its jingle. "Every day's great at your Junes!"

Nanako seemed to enjoy it, because she sang it to. "Every day's great at your Junes!"

That brought relief to the boys, and as such, they continued eating. Pretty soon, it was getting late, so the boys and Nanako decided to turn in.

Taiki and Yu entered the guest room, which is going to be their room for the year. Boxes are already stacked, ready to unpack at a moment's notice. The boys, however, were tired and wanted to sleep, so they decided to unpack tomorrow.

"Well, my futon's on this end, good night, Yu-sempai." Taiki said, heading for his futon.

"Night, Taiki." Yu said, lying in his futon, and drifting off.

When they opened their eyes again, they knew something was wrong. They found themselves on a red, broken road, thick fog surrounding them.

"Where are we?" Taiki asked, standing up. He noticed that his voice had a bit of an echo.

"I have no idea." Yu said, looking around. They noticed that they were dressed in their school uniforms.

Taiki then checked his pockets and paled. "Sempai, my Xros Loader's gone."

Yu's eyes widened and checked his pockets, confirming the same. "Great, wherever we are, we don't have our Digimon to help us."

"Any ideas?" Taiki asked looking around. "Because all I can see is in front of me, and that's barely."

"Well, if we can see forward, we might as well walk that way." Yu said, moving forward. Taiki made a way to follow, when a voice startled them.

"Do you seek the truth?" The voice was so faded, they couldn't tell if it was male or female.

"It sounds like it's coming from up ahead. Let's go." Taiki said, Yu nodding. They made their way forward, waiting for the voice to sound out again.

"If it's the truth you desire, come and find me." The voice sounded like it was just up ahead, so the boys hurried through, coming to a stop at some type of wall.

"Ready, Taiki?" Yu asked.

"Let's do it, Sempai." Taiki said, reaching out to the wall.

It spun and opened up like a door, and on the other side, they could make out an obscure figure.

"So, you two are the ones pursuing me, are you?" The figure spoke. Even at this distance, they can't tell who it is.

"Who are you?" Taiki asked, tensing himself.

"I am one who oversees man. I determine if they are worthy to exist." The figure answered.

"We'll show you just how strong mankind can be!" Yu said, determined.

The figure chuckled. "Try all you like. In fact, this should at least give you some sliver of a chance." With that weapons appeared in the boy's hands. Yu got his hands on a katana, while Taiki got some kind of mallet.

"Let's go!" Yu shouted, charging forth, Taiki right behind him.

Yu made a horizontal slash. The figure moved back, but left itself open to Taiki swinging his mallet.

"Hmm… despite the fog obscuring you, you can still see. Interesting… But your efforts are in vain." The figure then made more fog appear. At the rate it was going, Yu and Taiki would soon be blind.

Yu and Taiki felt something inside them, and decided to act on it.

"Zio!" Yu shouted, squeezing his hand.

"Bufu!" Taiki shouted, doing the same.

*break*

A shadow of sorts emerged from each of them. Yu's threw a lightning bolt, while Taiki's blasted a chunk of ice. Both of the attacks hit the figure dead on, but the figure kept producing fog.

The figure chucked. "Impressive. But if it is "truth" you seek, I assure you your search will be very much harder." The figure then began to vanish.

"Everyone sees what they wish, and as such, the fog only grows deeper. Will we meet again, I wonder? I look forward to finding out." And with that, silence.

"They're gone." With Yu's words, he and Taiki suddenly began growing weaker.

"W-what's happening?" Taiki's question went unanswered, for the two soon passed out, the fog engulfing their bodies.

A/N: Well, here we go. Chapter three of Xrossing to the Truth is complete. Now for a Digimon Introduction Corner. I decided on doing this so a Digimon will be explained for those that don't know the Digimon or are unfamiliar with Digimon in general(Although the latter will be very shocking). I also will do a Persona Check to show you any new Personas. Anyway, this chapter's Digimon is… Dorumon!

Name: Dorumon

Level: Child

Type: Beast

Attribute: Data

Name originating from Digital OR Unknown MONster, this Digimon has what is called an X-Antibody, a special interface containing legendary power. The Digimon's Power Metal attack unleashes a series a metal pellets in a spread fire, capable of hitting multiple foes in succession.

Anyway, you guys know the drill. Review, favorite, and/or follow. Also, I like to hear what you guys will think Taiki's Persona is going to be. Now keep in mind, I'm not taking votes, I already decided on his Persona, I just want to hear what you think Taiki's Persona will be. Until next time everyone.
