AN: Back again with another chapter.

Right when he arrived he saw, a few hours had bypassed. At least my visit wasn't completely a waste of time. Ryder thought. At least he asked a few questions and got some answers. What can I do to prevent this? His mind kept on working on a solution when a thought suddenly grabbed his attention and he couldn't let it go. Roger said, 'This timer here shows the end of the book.' That means everything had been decided before it even happened… it makes no sense. One single outcome is made by thousands of little decisions. How could a countdown show him the result, even if he doesn't know what he is going to do?

"Ryder, it's good to see you, I've been looking for you." Skye greeted him after Ryder got out of his ATV.

"Let me guess, your water bowl is empty, right? And you want me to refill it." He made the 'blind' guess and looked at Skye who was a bit surprised.

"Yes. That's exactly… How did you know?" She asked curiously and followed Ryder inside the lookout "You managed to get psychic powers while you were away, or what?"

"Doesn't matter. Let's fill up your bowl." He picked it up from the ground and started to fill it up.

So What if… I still go inside the building and warn Marshall to not go near to the lookout. In that case, I can go up, save the girl myself if I'm fast enough...Or… wait a minute, the fire hasn't even started yet! I can simply go there and prevent it from happening! "That's it!" Ryder shouted the last part of his thought process. It seemed so logical. No fire, no problem. The water level reached the top of the bowl a few seconds ago, so it overflowed again, just like last time but he didn't care right now. He placed it down, and ran into the elevator, leaving behind the confused Skye.

"Paw patrol, to the lookout!" He shouted as he reached the top level. It's gotta work...It has to… He watched through his team running inside the building again. The familiar sound of the elevator hit his ears and got louder as his team got to the top.

"Paw patrol, ready for action, Ryder sir!" Chase said and waited for the instructions.

"Thank you for coming here as fast as you could." He started. "There has been a report about a suspicious looking man near the city hotel. They didn't see his face, but a few people suspected he was up to something." Of course, it was a lie. Nobody saw anyone suspicious near that hotel but Ryder thought it will be easier to explain, than telling the truth. 'Hey guys I already lived through this day and there will be a fire. Oh, and the Lookout will collapse so please don't go near that. Thanks!' They would probably send him to a hospital.

"For this mission, I'll need…" He stopped. He couldn't ignore the fact that the lookout was not safe at all, to be anywhere near since it was about to collapse in an hour. Everyone else had more time on their clock so it was unlikely anyone would be stuck under the debris, but Ryder didn't want to risk it "I'll need Everybody." He finished. "More eyes can see more things, and right now, we will have to search through the whole hotel, so be prepared." He waited a few seconds for questions than said, "All right, paw patrol is on a role!"

He did exactly what he did every time. Got into his ATV, and when he saw everyone in their vehicles, it made Ryder smile. This team is the fastest and the best one, not only in the town but the whole world. He led the way to the hotel and when they arrived he happily saw, there was still no sign of any fire. The kids were playing in the front yard, while a few adults were sitting on a bench, talking to each other. Ryder looked at Marshall's timer, that shown 55 minutes. He set a timer on his own phone, so he could see it even when Marshall was nowhere near.

"Okay, we are here, Ryder, now what?" Rocky asked, and judging by the expression of the other, everyone else wanted to know.

"Everybody is a suspect right now, so if you see anything, let me know. Chase, Marshall, Skye, you stay out here, just in case." Ryder ordered but it wasn't because of their 'Suspect' for all he knew the fire could be because of electronic failure or just a kid playing with a match. He wanted to know them outside of the danger zone and someone else who is there to help them.

"Rubble, Rocky, Zuma, you can come with me." He finished and went inside. It was definitely a better sight than previously, watching it burn. The walls were completely white, and by reflecting the light coming from the lamps and outside, it was showing the illusion of a well-lighted hall. He hadn't visited the city hotel, jet, and if they weren't on a mission right now he would have stayed to just admire the beautiful sight. He went towards the reception while thinking about his next move. When the building was on fire Skye said the origin of the flames was on the second floor, and the fire traveled from west to east. It can help them locate the room it started in.

"Hi, how can I help y..." The receptionist started and looked up from his work. "Ryder, what a pleasant surprise! Why are you doing here?" He definitely knew them but Ryder didn't. It wasn't a surprise, he doesn't know everyone in the city.

"Hi, we are here to investigate the hotel. I got a call about a suspicious looking man. I doubt it's a big problem but we will look around just to make sure."

"It's not a problem at all. Let me know if you need something." The man finished and turned back to his work. Ryder didn't need more time he already targeted the stairs to go up to the second floor. The others, who walked inside followed him.

"All right, we should spit up. I'm gonna search this part of the floor."

"Shouldn't we go to the first and the third floor too?" "Rubble asked

"We will don't worry. but first, We have to do it here." He reassured but his pups kept on pushing.

"You said that pewson could be anywhere. It's a waste of time if we are seawching in one place. And why do we start on the second floor? It seems kinda wandom if you ask me." Zuma argued and the rest nodded.

"You are telling me that, I'm bad at giving orders? That I can't decide what's the best chance to find what we are looking for?" Ryder looked at Zuma, who didn't make eye contact, in fact, he was looking at the floor.

"No… Sorry Ryder."

They spent the next 30 minutes knocking in rooms and going around, but with no success. The pups were talking in a completely secret channel they opened to talk about things they didn't want Ryder to know about. Right now everybody was talking.

"Anything outside, Chase?" Rocky asked but he knew the answer.

"Uhhh… Not at all. What do you guys think about this… Suspicious person thing?" The German Shepherd asked. he knew whenever Ryder did something, it was on purpose, However, right now almost everyone questioned his sanity.

"I don't know dude..." Zuma said and it sounded like he just left a room. "I'm going awound but evewybody looks… normal to me. Nothing suspicious hewe."

"I know right?" Rubble agreed. "It feels like I'm searching for nothing. But the people here are nice. I got a few dog treats."

"Yeah... Cuz you don't care about anything else than your tummy." Rocky joked, and a few chuckles were heard in their private talking line.

"Well, I can't refuse food if someone gives me willingly."

"Awe we talking about that old lady's dog treats? Just because it looked like it was thewe for ages." Zuma joined and now everyone was laughing.

"Come on guys!" Skye's strict voice can be heard but everybody could tell she was laughing too. "Ryder knows what he is doing. There is a reason for everything."

"He does act weird, you need to admit it." Marshall joined too. "Back in the cave… he… he said how happy he was to see me. He acted like I was gone for years or… I don't know."

"He just likes us." Skye said, "You really can't judge him because of that."

"I'm not judging him!" Marshall replied "It was just… weird."

"Did you fix your gas tank leakage, Marshall?" Chase asked and sniffed into the air. "I already told you to…"

"I fixed it for him." Rocky interrupted. "Wasn't easy though."

"Are you sure? I can still smell the petrol from somewhere. Whatever. Probably coming from the streets or whatever."

While the pups were talking, Ryder failed to find what he was looking for.

He didn't find anything, not even a sparking cable. everything seemed normal, and then… The fire alarm went off, making Ryder confused. He suddenly saw the smoke but it didn't come from any of the rooms on the second floor. it was somewhere below them. In the panic, everyone looked out of their room, and curious faces can be seen from everywhere. A few families just realized what was happening and they ran to the stairs all at once. It was a complete chaos there, and it was impossible to make a step in the panicking crowd.

"Okay, It doesn't matter now." Ryder said while hoping nobody will step on his pups while running towards the exit."Everybody go outside!"

"What happened, Ryder?" Rocky asked and right after that shouted in pain "Hey!"

"What? What is it? Do you need help?"

"No… I'm fine. Somebody stepped on my leg, Hurts really bad but it's okay, I can walk."

"Ryder!" Chase's voice was heard on the phone. "I see the man. Or at least I think I do. He ran out of the building right before the alarm went off. I didn't see his face though..."

"Go after him! Catch him at all cost, and Skye!" He stopped. When he was about to give the order he completely forgot about her timer, and he knew he will need Skye for extraction after the stairs collapsed

"Yes?" she asked

"You can go too," Ryder said finally while wondering if it was a good idea. "Two of you can catch him more easily." That man can easily have a gun or anything, but right now, all he wanted is to catch him. When he reached the first floor, he saw the flames. They were already all over the place, and the fire only started a few minutes ago. How is that possible? And why? The first time he was here the first floor was almost untouched, and the second one was the place of origin. Did the arsonist saw them and decided to do his job on the first floor? This is when he heard someone shout 'Help!'. It looks like the first floor wasn't empty, and… the girl… she is probably still up there on the third one. He hoped he was wrong, but it was really unlikely. If she stuck up there last time it's probably the same right now too. And Ryder saw her timer too, back at the hospital, it wasn't promising at all. He grabbed an extinguisher from the wall, but it barely had any effect on the high wall of flames. there was only one solution…

"Marshall… There is a man stuck inside one of the rooms on the 1st floor. Can you go there and save him with your ladder? I'm going upstairs." He said and with that, he was already on his way. The fire started on the 1st floor, so it took a completely different route than last time. It meant that the stairs were now completely useless since nobody could get through without getting serious burn marks. Ryder took a look at the timer on his phone, it showed 9 minutes 42 seconds remaining.

"Ryder," Chase was heard "I'm starting to lose sight of the car. Skye can still see him, but not for long."

"Okay… okay… Try to catch him. You know the moves, Skye, try to cut his way " Ryder claimed, while making his way upwards slowly, but he was sure he won't be able to do the same in time while going down.

"The man on the first floor is safe. Where is the next one, you are trying to help?"

"It's on the other side. You can't help with the ladder."

"I'm going in then." The determined voice was heard.

"No!" The command came from Ryder. "It's enough if only one of us risk their lives."

"Ryder! I'm smaller and have a better experience in fires. You have to let me.."

"I said NO!" But it was late. He already heard his team member running upwards while staying the fire with his water hose. "WHAT DID I TELL YOU? Go back!" But just as he said it the stairs collapsed right behind Marshall. He had to gather all his strength to grab on the ledge, and being a pup it wasn't easy at all. In the end, Ryder helped him up, while holding back his anger. His pup just ignored his command and talking about Marshall, It was a really big thing. He never denied anything before. Why now? Why?

"I told you to stay downstairs!"

"I know, but now I'm here so how about saving whoever you wanted to, instead of wasting time?" Marshall shouted, "So… Where is that room?"

While fighting his anger Ryder pointed up at the third floor. His extinguisher was empty now so if Marshall didn't come, he would be trapped. He was still mad at his pup but now his top priority was to get everyone out alive. Marshall took out the fire, leading to the third floor and they ran to the second door on the left. It looks like the fire didn't reach it yet, so it was easier to get in.

Ryder hoped he was wrong and the girl had already gone downstairs but right when they opened it, they saw her right where Ryder found her last time. she looked up and ran to her saviors.

"We don't have much time. Let's go!" Ryder said and looked at the countdown again… 2 minutes remaining. Come on! he thought to himself. I can't let it happen… I can't let it happen again.

"Skye? It doesn't matter how close you are. Come back for an evac."

"On my way! give me a minute. Oh, and Ryder… I'm sorry… I tried to stop the car..I.."

"It's okay. I know you tried."

Why did I send her away? Ryder hated himself because of this, and they didn't even catch the arsonist. He got away.

They finally reached the roof. It was a scary sight, seeing the building below them on fire, but it wasn't the only thing to worry about. Time wasn't on their side either, since the hotel was about to collapse in less than a minute.

Ryder finally spotted Skye's helicopter, coming as fast as she could.

"Lower your helicopter, so we can put the kid on." Seconds flew by and they still weren't near finished. The kid just got up, when only 10 seconds left. Skye tried to go higher when a familiar screeching sound hit Ryder's ears. "GO!" He shouted. The roof bent in and as Skye tried to stabilize her aircraft, the building started to collapse, and bam. It directly caught the blades of the helicopter. It got out of balance and collided with the side of the building. Ryder saw Marshall trying to stay on all fours but just like last time. The building didn't hold up much longer. He found himself free falling again, and right before hitting the ground, everything went black... again... The ring started to glow again, following the curves of the symbol, and before he knew he was back at the start again and heard Roger's voice.

"Nooo! Take it away from me! Destroy it! It's evil! It's cursed!"

They were back in the cave. That stupid cave where everything started.

"I should have succeeded," Ryder muttered. "I should have… I was so stupid!" He started hitting the walls.

"Ryder calm down!" Marshall tried his best in holding his owner back but he was too small for this.

"Look at the walls. Full with nonsense!" Ryder kept on shouting. "Moel toi ratele loa. What it that even supposed to mean?!"

"Ryder, you are scaring me."

"Really? Well, I know something that would scare you more, but I don't know if it's a good idea to tell you or not. It's enough if only I know this... this way everybody else is fine, until that stupid fire."

"Ryder, don't make me do this!" The warning came from Marshall, but Ryder kept on shouting.

"Why? Why is that happening, and why can't I find a good outcome? End of the book huh? That's just stupid!" This is when Ryder felt a small sting in his leg. He looked down and saw Marshall, injecting him with something, that calmed him down. First, he felt fine, then dizzy, so he had to sit down.

"I'm sorry Ryder I had to calm you down. A few hours and you will wake up, but I had to..."

"All I'm trying to do is save you… But I can't… I'm sorry."

"Save me from what?" Marshall asked but Ryder already fell asleep.

AN: This is it for now. I have no idea when I'm going to update next, be patient, I guess.
