To the meeting of the two now.
DISCLAIMER: 'Black Cat' is not mine.
It was another full moon night, only which it is more cloudy than usual that night. A guy was walking along a random rooftop. The wind slowly brushes through his brown spiky hair and his golden eyes with a sharp iris, similar to a cat's, pierce through the darkness of the night. Then, he stopped and held up his head to have a look at the sky. After looking at the sky and moon for several minutes, he decided to sit down and turn his attention to the town instead.
"Nothing has changed at all here," he thought.
Here was the new starting point of his life from a mere cold-blooded assassin to a free, stray cat lifestyle. Here was where he decided to go on a sweeper journey with Sven and the little princess, Eve. Here was also the place of his very first meeting with her. The one who had changed him. His life, destiny and fate. The funny and interesting girl who loves to drink milk and unexpectedly, working as sweeper. She was the one that taught him to lead a life of a stray cat. His very first friend who likes to sing a weird song, yet he was very attracted to the song. Every time he heard it, he felt calm as her voice sounded really soothing. Back then, he had noticed that he had another kind of feeling or attachment towards her. Whenever he was doing his biddings for Chronos, he thinks about her very often during his missions.
"What is this feeling?"
Whenever, he imagines her face and her smile, he feels a tight squeeze on his chest. He would then, touch his chest and he could feel his heart pounding faster than usual. H does not felt like resisting the feelings as it gives him a peaceful feeling. It was a very odd and unknown feeling to him at first. However, over the time as he travelled around, he came to a possible understanding of what's the meaning of those feelings.
His pure, longing for her.
Uta wo, uta ou...
Daichi no uta wo..
Kaze wo idakou...
"This song..." He recognised this song. "It can't be!" he thought. His mind started to race as he could only think of one person who sings that song.
Hikari, abite...
He quickly stood up, turning left and right, seeking for the location of that song, that voice. "It's not possible! That, I mean – but – because, she's already..!"
Hoshi wa mata taki,
Machi wa kirameku.
Just as he turned back to look to his left, a lean figure which was not there earlier now stood before him.
Fuwa, fuwa fururin..
"She, that hair, that yutaka ..."
Negai komete.
She took a deep breath as she finished her verse of the song. Slowly, she turned and greeted him with a smile. A smile that's filled with so much gentleness and warmth.
"Saya…" he whispered softly and still thinking, "Is this even possible? This is neither a dream nor an illusion right?"
"Train, is it you?"
"Saya...are you-but, this couldn't be happening...that time, you and Creed…or am I-" he was so lost of words. Nothing is making any sense to him now.
"Train, I'm so glad ...you came back to this town."
"Saya, is it really you?"
Train could not believe his eyes. She was just right there, standing right before his eyes, Saya, Minatsuki Saya. He shook his head, pinched his left cheek, and used his both hand to slap his own face.
"Ouch, okay, this hurts. So, is this not a lie? A reality?"
Saya skipped towards Train as he was still standing there, shocked and stun by her near to impossible appearance. He was looking down at the tiles of the rooftop, as if there were some answers on it to his situation now.
"Train, what's wrong with you? You look like you just saw a ghost." She asked as she bends down a little to take a closer look at Train's face.
"Well, yes, I think I'm looking at one now." He thought sarcastically.
Her face was extremely close to his now. His heart started to pound really fast and he could feel his cheeks burning now.
"Train ... earth to Train. Your face is red. Are you blushing or something?" Saya said as she waves her hand in front of Train to get his attention.
"Nn-n-no, I'm just feeling a little hot because your face is too close up to mine." Train answered and waved her hand away, quickly he turned his face away from hers face.
"Hmmm...by the way, what's these donuts hanging on your clothes?"
"I know right? It's fashion."
"Ahahaha! Oh, Train, you're so funny! What sense of fashion is that?!" Saya laughed as she gave Train's back a hard smack.
"Umph, that hurts you know!" Train said as he massage his back.
"Oh come on, I just gave you a little smack. If you can't even take that, are you a man?"
All of this happening seemed to be too true for Train. Her smile, her laughter, her very existence being in front of him now, seemingly so ... alive. He even thought for a moment of this possibility that she may not have died that night.
"Saya… are you really Saya?"
"Huh?"
"This, I mean...because…th-t-that night…I saw it with my own eyes...you, you…Creed…to you…blood..."
Train couldn't continue his words anymore. Just remembering it hurts him so badly now. He could remember that very moment…scarred and etch in his heart and memories of when he held the lifeless, cold body of hers. Her eyes were close shut and would never open again. He would never see the warm smile from her ever again. Train crouched down and both of his hands held onto his head, depressed of how powerless he was at that night, how he had lost her just like that.
Saya slowly knelt down, took his right hand slowly and clasp it in between both her hands. "Train, now, I am here. It is me." Then, Saya held out her right hand to touch Train's cheek. He could feel the warmth of her hand.
"It's her. She's alive."
"Saya…"
The both of them sat down side by side and watch the moon in silence.
"How I wish this moment would last forever, even if it's just a dream or illusion. She's alive." he thought.
"Yossh!" Just suddenly, Saya stood up and started to walk away.
"Wait, are you going now? Where are you going to?" he asked, feeling unbearable now of her leaving so soon.
"Why, do you want me to stay here with you? Do you missed me that badly? Hmm…" Saya examined Train's facial expression, trying to guess what he's thinking at the moment.
"Ah, don't tell me…are you going to confessed to me?"
"Huh, who, what?! No! No way…" Train protested softly.
"Che! Then, see you!" Saya said cheekily. She waved her hand and jumped off the rooftop.
"Wait, Saya!"
He looks down from the spot where she jumped off. She completely disappeared, which surprises him a little. "How could she run off so fast without a trace?" He stood up looking towards the town.
Now he was feeling flustered, confused and his heart was racing, "Confession? Me? Am I really? Towards her? I...I just wanted her to stay with me..."
He felt like a coward now for not being able to say what he wanted to. He had now realised that he loved her since back then.
No.
He loves her. Even now.
Miko-Chi,
Here's another disclaimer, I do not own that song as well. I wrote in Japanese romaji to allow the originality of the song's feeling to flow into the story. To see the lyrics and its translation as well as hear the song, you can try to google it ;) The title is 'Konoyo no Uta', an insert song for Black Cat's anime series sang by Minatsuki Saya (Taku Iwasaki).
