Author notes
Here is the next chapter for you all.
Please note that in this chapter you find out more about Steve's past. As anyone who has read my previous stories will know, I created a backstory for Steve before the show gave us more details about his life. After much deliberation I decided that I wanted to keep with my own backstory and have included it in every story I have done. I figure that since these stories feature a female Danni then they are already A/U so I might as well continue rebuilding the world to one I wanted to write which includes fixing the mistakes the show has made.
Please enjoy.
Official Summary
Steve McGarrett has had enough of his friends and family interfering in his new relationship and decides to whisk Danni away for a romantic break. Just the two of them, away from all the stress… what could go wrong? (Steve McGarrett x OC, part two of the Model Saga)
Chapter Summary
Steve slumped over Danielle, his breathing erratic as he buried his face into the crook of her neck, pressing open mouthed kisses against the damp skin beneath his lips, tasting the tangy saltiness of her sweat which their bout of love making had caused. He was distantly aware of her small hand stroking up and down his bare back but was content to simply lie there in silence with her, making sure that he kept the majority of his weight on his forearms so he didn't crush her beneath him as he waited for his breathing to steady again.

Part Three
Day one – Early Afternoon
Steve slumped over Danielle, his breathing erratic as he buried his face into the crook of her neck, pressing open mouthed kisses against the damp skin beneath his lips, tasting the tangy saltiness of her sweat which their bout of love making had caused. He was distantly aware of her small hand stroking up and down his bare back but was content to simply lie there in silence with her, making sure that he kept the majority of his weight on his forearms so he didn't crush her beneath him as he waited for his breathing to steady again.
He wasn't sure how long he lay there before he reluctantly pulled out of her body, twisting himself around so he landed on the mattress on his back, pulling her over with him so she was glued to his side, her hand coming to a rest against his chest, landing automatically over his heart while her other arm curled around his waist, their legs still tangled together.
"Well" He said roughly after a pause, breaking the silence as he absently stroked her upper arm with his thumb, his other hand coming up to cover the one resting against his chest. "I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the bed is going to be both sturdy enough and comfortable enough for us to use." He commented, grinning when she laughed at the remark, the sweet sound making his heart soar. There was no doubt in his mind that the sound of Danielle's laughter was definitely one of his favourite sounds, making him beyond determined to make her laugh at least once a day for the rest of his life just so he could hear it.
"I think you might be right with that analysis; what you should probably do is make sure you state that in the comments box at the end of our trip when they ask you to provide feedback. You could say "We appreciate you giving us a bed that we didn't break through certain activities we participated in" She agreed sagely, her eyes glittering at him with amusement when she tilted her head back on his arm so she could see his face.
"I'll keep that in mind" He promised her with a laugh of his own, his eyes drifting shut for a moment before he opened them as she spoke, a curious tone to her voice which attracted his attention.
"Have you given any thought about what you want to do while we're here? Is the Big Island a place where you've been before? I know you mentioned earlier your Aunt and Uncle had taken you to England but did you come here as well?" She asked him as she snuggled closer, placing an absent kiss on his neck as she rested her head in the crook of his shoulder.
Steve considered the question for a moment before he shook his head.
"My Aunt and Uncle made a point of keeping me away from Hawaii, I think it was the one thing my Dad asked of them when he dumped me on them. I think he had told them it was a short-term thing and he would call them when he was ready for me to re-join him in Hawaii but that call never came and I ended up living with them for about four years." Steve explained to her ignoring the stab of pain his words caused him. "They took me to Europe and one year we went to Australia and New Zealand but yeah never back to Hawaii or really anywhere around America other than trips to LA to see my sister. Mike and Karen were always trying to enrich their kids with different cultures and they treated me like another son so I was given the same treatment. Considering how things could have gone I was really lucky that my Dad put me with them. My Uncle really got me on a level my own parents never did."
"It sounds like they must really love you though that's not a surprise to me." Danielle replied warmly. "Who wouldn't love you after meeting you?"
The comment caused Steve to smile while the tone of honesty which flavoured her voice told him in no uncertain terms that she meant every word which she said to him.
"You might be slightly biased when it comes to me babe" Was all he said as he tilted his head and kissed the top of her hair. "I do have a vague memory of my parents taking about vacations and the Big Island did come up repeatedly as a possible place to go, I think my Dad had always planned to take me and Mary over here one day but then…" His voice trailed off.
"But then?" Danielle prompted him softly, the arm around his waist tightening as though she was already trying to comfort him.
"But then my mother died, my Dad told me and Mary at the time that she had died in a car crash but now I'm not so sure." Steve admitted, glancing down at Danielle when she lifted her head up so she could see him. "My Dad changed after she died, maybe he had a breakdown or something but the first thing he did after we buried my mum was to send me and Mary to relatives on the mainland, like I said I got really lucky with my Aunt and Uncle and so did Mary, she was sent to Aunt Debs who is an amazing woman as well, but…" He stopped again.
"If you don't want to talk about this Steve then we don't have to, I didn't mean to drag up any bad memories with my question." Danielle told him seriously.
"We have to talk about it one day, I means it's a part of who I am and what made me into who I am." Steve replied as he sat up, resting his back against the headboard, a soft smile coming to his face when Danielle immediately sat up as well, snuggling back into his side and pulling the sheet up to cover herself as she twisted around so she could still easily see him.
"Then I'm all ears" She told him simply.
"My upbringing was really normal up until my mother died and then everything went to shit, My Dad sent us away to these relatives who he had never even mentioned more in passing, like I knew vaguely that my Dad had siblings but we never saw them or spoke to them or had anything to do with them and then the next thing I know I was on a plane to live with one of them. My Dad stayed behind in Hawaii and I hardly ever saw him again, he didn't come to visit us on the mainland, he barely called. It was like we had ceased to exist to him. By the time I got out of the Naval Academy I had gotten into the stage of never wanting to see him, as far as I was concerned my Uncle Mike was my father figure. My Dad and I never did get the chance to talk about it, I had always meant to but I was so bitter deep down over what he had done to me and Mary and then it was too late and he was gone taking all the answers I needed with him."
Danielle remained silent for a moment, clearly taking in his story before she sighed and leaned forward, pressing a soft loving kiss to his mouth, her hand coming up to rest against the side of his face as she deepened the kiss for a moment before she pulled slightly away from him, remaining close enough that he could count every one of her long lashes if he chose to.
"I'm so sorry about your mother and what you have been through, thank god like you said that your Aunt and Uncle treated you well, did they have children of their own?" She asked, a relieved look coming to her face when he nodded at her.
"I'm not sure if I've mentioned them to you before but they had four kids of their own, both of them used to always tell me that they had wanted five kids in total so me arriving to stay with them made that dream come true. Whether they meant it I don't know but knowing them the way I do I think they did. Louise was the eldest but when I arrived she was at collage so I only saw her when she was on leave but when she was around she just treated me like a younger brother which was nice, I had always been the eldest in our household so it made a change for me. Tyler was eleven months older than me so we soon became best friends, Morgan was thirteen when I was arrived and he was one of the cleverest kids I had ever met and Dean was the baby of the family, he was just about to turn three when I arrived, they had dogs as well so the one thing I definitely wasn't lacking when I got there was company. My Aunt's and Uncle's household was so different from the one which I had been raised in until that point that it was a lot to take in at first."
"I can imagine, you said that your sister was sent to another Aunt in LA? Was there any reason why your Dad didn't send you both to your Uncle's house or would two extra kids have been too much for them to deal with. I mean if you were living in Maryland and she was in LA then it must have made it really difficult for you both to see each other on a regular basis." Danielle asked him with a puzzled look. Steve breathed out slowly, trying to taper down on the rage he could feel growing as he thought about his father and his father's actions.
"It did, Debs and Mike did their best, allowing me and Mary to call each other whenever we wanted but it was more difficult to arrange for us to have proper visits because obviously both Mike and Debs had jobs of their own which kept them occupied. I think it averaged up that Mary and I saw each other maybe four times a year which wasn't exactly a lot when you considered we were siblings who should have been living together." Steve told her with a shrug of his shoulder. "I asked my Uncle the very same question you asked me about why we had been separated and he told me that when my Dad rang to tell him that I was on my way, he offered to take Mary as well so that she and I could at least be together but my Dad refused."
"There has to be a reason why your Dad did what he did" Danielle said sounding genuinely confused. "I can't think of any other reason why a parent would do that, if it had been me and I had children then, well…" She stopped her eyes moving away from him, the slight action causing him to smile softly at him.
"You wouldn't have let the children out of your sight, you would turn into a mother bear and protected them with all your might, of that I have no doubt." He told her, bringing his hand up and wrapping it around her neck, shifting on the bed so he could pull her into a hug, holding on tightly as he spoke. "Like I said my Dad died before he could give me any answers so it's just another mystery which shrouds my life, you'll soon find Danni that I have a lot of them." He admitted.
"Well luckily for you I love a good mystery" She replied softly, kissing him again before she leaned back and changed the subject, bringing it onto a safer topic which he was grateful for. "So, if you haven't been here before and I haven't been here before that means we are both brand new tourists to the area which is always a fun thing. We have ten days here which we can use starting from today. Have you got anything planned or is it a case that we'll wake up each day and decide on the day what we're going to do?" She asked
"I did some research before we came and I've come up with a plan for each day for us to do." Steve told her, noting the way she raised an eyebrow at the comment. "Today though is just us relaxing in the hotel, getting to know the layout and maybe spending some time at the pool area before eating in one of the restaurants here this evening.
"The man at the reception desk mentioned about there being a welcome pack in the suite, didn't he?" Danielle queried, smiling brightly at him when he nodded at her. "Good, I'm going to go and grab it, you might have everything planned Steve but I'd still like to see the options available to us." She commented as she moved away from him and shuffled to the end side of the bed and came to her feet, once again unbothered by the fact she was naked though Steve could hardly blame her for not being bothered by it, as far as he was concerned her body was a work of art which he would quite happily stare at for hours at a time. Steve watched from his seated position as Danielle moved into the en-suite bathroom and disappeared briefly inside, reappearing minutes later wearing one of the complimentary dressing gowns which the hotel had provided them with. She smiled at him when she noticed his gaze and headed towards the door.
Steve shuffled down on the bed until he was lying down again, staring up at the whirling fan above him, he was contemplating moving when the bed beside him dipped down attracting his attention.
"Did you find it?" He asked Danielle, smiling when she nodded at him and lifted a large folder from the mattress so he could see it.
"It was on the table in the sitting area." She told him as she dropped it again and opened it up, leaning forward slightly. Steve sat up again, moving so that he was behind Danielle and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her back into him so her back was resting against his chest. He wrapped his legs around her as well, cocooning her in as he placed a soft kiss against her temple, taking a moment to breathe in her scent before he spoke.
"So, what are the options for us then?" He asked her, smiling when she tilted her head to the side so they could share a kiss before she focused her attention back on the file, frowning slightly as she flipped through the pages.
"Most of it is just the usual stuff you'd expect to see, it's welcoming us to the hotel, giving a brief history to the place, apparently we will have our own concierge which will be nice and we get complimentary access to the spa so we definitely need to find the time in the schedule you've set up for us to go there for a few hours." She commented, looking towards him and grinning when she caught sight of the look on his face. "I mean I'm not saying that you would have to get a pedicure or something Sweetheart but a good massage would probably do you the world of good and help get rid of the tension you're carrying inside." She pointed out to him. "And don't even try to deny you have tension because I can see it."
"I can think of much better ways for me to get any residual tension out of my system which doesn't involve a massage from a stranger." He replied seriously as he reached for the belt securing her dressing gown and pulled at it, slipping hand inside and stroking her bare side as he dripped his head and sucked a small mark onto her neck, smiling when she felt her shudder in response.
"Why does that not surprise me" Danielle remarked, a husky tone to her voice which he felt all the way to his feet as she tilted her head slightly to the side to give him better access to her neck before she focused her attention on the file. "This is the page with the daily activities which he was telling us about." She stated, tapping her fingertip against the page in question.
"What sort of activities are they offering us then?" Steve asked her, grinning when she turned to give him a suspicious look.
"You probably already know" She pointed out, her mouth curling into a smile.
"Maybe but they might be different from the website so…" His voice trailed off
"Fine" Danielle said on a laugh with a shake of her head as she began reading out loud. "We can play eighteen holes of golf at Waikoloa Beach or at the Kings course, we can get a spa treatment, play an hour and a half of tennis, go on a Champagne sunset cruise, go a snorkelling cruise or a Whale watching cruise if we want to."
Steve made a knowing sound at the back of his throat at the selection.
"Is there anything on that list which takes your fancy?" She asked her, smiling when she nodded her head at him.
"Actually, pretty much everything other than the golf would be something that I would be happy to do though if you fancied a game of golf then I would be happy to go with you and to watch you play" She offered, making a humming sound when he kissed her again, aware even as he did that he was swiftly becoming addicted to the feel of her lips.
"I think that we can skip the golf part considering how busy we're going to be." Steve assured her, watching as a flicker of relief came to her eyes, telling him without words that Danielle clearly hated golf.
"So, you've said that you have every day planned right?" Danielle asked, raising an eyebrow when Steve nodded at her. "Well are you going to at least tell me what we will be doing on each day or are you planning on keeping it a surprise again?"
"It's a surprise though I can promise you that you will enjoy it Danni" He promised her with a grin. She looked briefly amused before she shook her head.
"Surprises can be good" She admitted in a light tone. "You said that today is about exploring the hotel, right?" She questioned, smiling when he nodded again at her. "Okay, in that case I suggest we get onto it, let me change quickly into a bikini in case we do decide to spend time at the pool and then I'll be ready to head off." She gave him one last kiss before moving away from him, a spring to her step which caused him to smile as she disappeared from the room, no doubt to pick up her suitcase from where they had placed them by the door. Steve shook his head and came to his feet, looking back to the door in time to see Danielle re-enter the room with her suitcase and his rucksack in hand. "Here, I brought this up in case you wanted it."
"Thanks babe" Steve said, reaching out and taking it from her, placing it on the mattress and unzipping it, looking up in time to see Danielle disappear back into the bathroom again. He pulled out a pair of swimming trunks, dropping it onto the bed and kicked off his cargo pants and boxers before pulling the swimming trunks on and pulling on his cargo pants again.
"I'm ready to go now" Danielle said, coming out of the bathroom in a bikini before she picked up her clothes from the floor and pulled them on, straightening the bottom of her dress. "Have you got your key still?" She asked him smiling when he nodded at her, watching as she picked her bag up and shouldered it. "Good to know, have you everything you need?"
"Yeah I do Danni." He responded, moving out the doors and down the stairs, he opened the front door and took a step back allowing her to exit the suite first. He followed her, closing the door behind him and waited for a moment for the familiar sound of the door clicking behind them. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder pulling her closer and smiling when she automatically snuggled closer to him, her own arm coming out to wrap around his waist.
The tour of the hotel took longer than he had expected it to since Danielle had wanted to explore it all but it had been worth it when he caught the look on her face, he could already picture how he would react to some of the things which he had already booked them on.
He had ten days to make sure that this time alone between them went perfectly, so that he could convince her of what he already knew
That they were perfect together.
He wanted her to move to Hawaii and to move in with him. He wanted to build a home with her before marrying her and creating a family of their own together. It was a thought which should have terrified him considering the simple fact that they had only know each other for a short time but it didn't. Instead it was a thought which comforted him.
He wanted a relationship and a life with the blonde next to him and he was determined to make her want the same thing.
Nothing was more important.
