Edit: I can't tell you how glad I am this story is short. xD So easy to edit and complete
TWO CHAPTERS. AND I ALREADY HAVE 26 REVIEWS FOR THIS STORY. HOLY FREAKING TARDIS OF GALLIFREY. I. FREAKING. LOVE. ALL. OF. YOU.
I'm back. Happy 2014, y'all. :) Sorry if this chapter isn't the best, when I wrote this I was running on 3 hours of sleep, 2 and a half cups of coffee, and about a half an hour nap. Best friend and I stayed up until 4am watching Despicable Me 2 then woke up at 7 to get ready for mass... New Year's Day, y u a holy day of obligation? :c Grr. I was at my grandparents' house. Lol I'm sure my aunt and cousin sitting near me thought I was texting. (Use your brains there's not wifi here and I've got an iPod...) Was listenin' to my iPod in my corner in my own little writing world. Anyway, enjoy. :)
"And you expect me to believe this?"
"Well... Yeah," Holley frowned. "Why would we be making this up?"
The secretary for CHROME's boss was staring at them with annoyed disbelief. She shrugged. "Cry for attention?"
"We get enough unwanted attention as it is." Mater looked equally annoyed.
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Go on, then, see if he believes you." She pressed the button to the intercom. "Mr. Methargic, agents McMissile, Shiftwell, and..." she peered over at Mater.
"I'm Agent McMissile."
The secretary rolled her eyes. "Then who are you, again?"
"Tuh Mater, but without the Tuh." Finn explained.
"Make that "sir", remember?" Holley reminded him.
"Right." Finn agreed.
"...and "Sir Mater"..." The secretary finished. She listened for a moment. "Go on in." She shooed them away.
The three rolled into the head director of CHROME's office. Mr. Methargic looked up from whatever he was doing at his desk.
"Ah, Agent McMissile." He called looking at Finn. "And Shiftwell." He smiled at Holley.
"Actually, sir," Mater spoke up. "I'm Agent McMissile."
The director stared at Mater for a moment. "Pardon me?"
"Finn and Mater found out what the weapon we confiscated from Zündapp does... The hard way." Holley explained.
"So, it... Does what, exactly?"
"It appears... Switches the bodies of whoever it was fired at." Mater informed.
"So you're McMissile," he looked at Mater. "...and you're Mater." He looked at Finn, who agreed,
"Dad gum right."
"Well," Mr. Methargic said, trying to regain his senses. "You want to see the weapon and look for a reverse switch, I presume?"
"That'd be brilliant, sir." Holley told him. "Whatever analysis we could perform on it would be fantastic."
"Well, then," he said driving out from behind his desk. "Follow me."
Mr. Methargic led the three of them out of his office and into the warehouse where confiscated weapons were kept. The three noticed the secretary was gone. ("We've probably driven the poor woman to a stress coffee break," Holley had sighed.)
"I didn't know we had giant death rays in here..." Holley murmured.
"They're not exactly what they appear to be." Mr. Methargic told her with an amused expression. "That one, for instance, is actually a shrinking machine. Completely harmless. Well, unless the shrunken gets driven over. That's why we keep these all unplugged or powered down any way they are turned off."
"Well, I knew that..." Holley defended. Mr. Methargic laughed.
"Right. Of course you did."
"So, where is it?" Finn asked.
"It should be right..." Any glint of amusement on Mr. Methargic's windshield vanished. "Where is it?"
"What?" Mater demanded.
"You mean it's not here?!" Holley panicked.
"Calm down," the director ordered. "Scott!" He called as Wilfred Scott drove by. He braked and redirected his course.
"Yes, sir?" He asked.
"What happened to Zündapp's weapon? It was here earlier."
"Zündapp's w..." Agent Scott trailed off.
"Alert the guards," Methargic ordered. "I think we have an intruder in the building..."
"Yes, sir." Scott replied then sped off. Shortly after, an alarm was raised.
"Sir! Someone's broken out of the prison!" Another agent called out speeding over to the four of them.
"What?!" Methargic demanded. "Who?!"
"P-Professor Zündapp, sir." The anonymous agent stammered.
"Anyone else?" The organization's director demanded.
"G-Grem Gremlin." He answered.
"What about the Pacer?" Methargic asked.
"He's secure." The agent replied a bit more calmly.
"Well, don't just park there, get more agents to stop the fugitives!" Methargic barked.
"Yes, sir. Right away, sir." The flustered agent promised then hurried off.
"So, that's what happened to it." Finn observed.
"The question is, why did the alarms wait until now to go off?" Holley mused.
"And how did they get the weapon without anyone noticing…?" Mater agreed, slowly glancing upwards. "Oh…" He breathed. "I think we're going to need some ladders…" He observed as the rest looked up to see an air vent cover off.
Yes, there are ladders in the Cars world, you guys know this. :3 In Mater's tall tale where he was a fire truck Lightning jumped onto a ladder. They can just…drive up and down them, can't they? XD
