Chapter 3: "Hands Up!"

Yuu let out a long yawn, stretched his hands over his head and slowly opened his eyes. It seemed as if the sleeping pills had done their job, he even dreamt for once. With a rumble in his stomach, Yuu decided to get some breakfast. He made his way out from the booth and heard shouting at the front of the cafe, he simply shook his head and ignored it.

He continued on his way to the cafeteria and quickly found his way to the soda machine. He grabbed a cup and began to fill it with the fizzy soda of the machine. His mind drifted to thoughts of anime he'd watch later, would it be Angel Beats? Durarara? What about Fairy Tail?

While he thought about episode counts, characters, and stories a hand grabbed him by the shoulder and pushed him toward the soda machine.

"Give me all your money!" The man demanded.

Yuu simply let out a small sigh before putting both hands up against the soda machine, "I don't have any money, I used the last of it-"

The man didn't seem to care as he bashed Yuu's face into the soda machine in front of him. While Yuu was distracted from the hit, the man grabbed both of his arms and pushed them both against his back and sent him tumbling down to the floor.

The man pushed the raven's head against the floor, "If you don't have any money then give me what you do have!" Yuu heard a loud bang from the front of the store quickly followed by a scream. The raven let out a low growl and looked over his shoulder at the man's brown eyes, a smile took over his features as his eyes glowed with a golden hue.

The man tensed for a moment before getting up off of Yuu, he scanned the room for a few seconds before sprinting into a wall and slamming his head against it. He promptly went limp and fell to the floor, just seconds before the raven pushed himself off the floor. Yuu glanced over at the man who had knocked himself out before letting out a small smile. He turned his gaze to the source of the scream and began to make his way toward the front of the cafe.

As Yuu closed the distance between the kitchen and the front of the cafe he found a stack of manga to hide behind and scope out the situation. From the looks of things, a local group of thugs had kicked the doors down and had been threatening the store's staff and costumes. In front of the register stood a group of five men, four of them wore black khakis, boots, and bandanna's around their faces. The fifth man wore a white Jacket, a pair of jeans, a bandanna, a pair of white sneakers, and black fingerless gloves, he was obviously the leader.

The man in white grabbed the frightened employee by the tie and pulled him toward his side of the counter, "Empty out the safe in the back room, and no one needs to get hurt!"

The girl, a quirkiness employee couldn't help but let out a terrified gasp as the man pushed her back over the counter. She gave a furious nod before turning on her heel and running toward the back room, in the meanwhile, the man turned toward one of his men sent him after the girl in order to make sure she didn't try anything.

Yuu watched as the number of opponents fell from five to four. His mind finally churned out a plan, a smile pulled at his lips once more. He walked out from his cover and made his presence known, "Good job, you went for the good old 'grab them and pull them toward you' intimidation trick!"

The man in the white jacket scowled at the ruffed up teenager in front of him, "Who are you?"

Yuu shrugged, "You can think of me as…" The raven paused before snapping his fingers, "a critic!" he continued to walk toward the group in front of him, "I've seen many intimidating things in my life, and you sir are one of them."

The man crossed his arms over his chest and smiled at the approaching Raven, "Tell me, what's your name?"

Yuu stopped his approach upon reaching the closest thug, and with a grin on his face stared the man in the eye, "You can call me Reaper."

The reaper turned his gaze toward the thug he stood beside and raised his hand toward the man, his smile disappeared. Yuu's eyes glowed yellow as purple lighting erupted from his hand and shocked the thug. The man screamed in pain as the electricity raced through his body, ultimately resulting in the man losing consciousness and falling to the floor.

Before anyone could react The Reaper turned his attention to the other thug and began to sprint toward him. His eyes switching from a golden light to that of a diamond's glow. Right as his eyes changed shades the thug seemed to have lost sight of him, moving his gaze all about the room trying to find his opponent.

Just before Yuu collided with his opponent he dropped to the floor and swept his leg underneath his opponent's, sending him to the floor. Once his second opponent had collided with the floor and had been knocked unconscious, Yuu pushed himself off the floor and raised a hand toward the last thug.

The last thug, who had just witnessed Yuu take down two of his comrades was understandably paralyzed in his spot. The Reaper, however, didn't care about why or why not someone was staring at him with their jaw on the floor. All he cared about was making sure that he didn't get away.

The man in white watched as Yuu's hand shot a wall of ice, which encased his comrade. The man began to applaud the Reaper, "Good job, you're certainly intimidating Reaper-san." He continued to applaud for a moment longer before putting his hands inside the jacket pockets, "As a reward for showing me such a wonderful… performance, shall you ever need anything from… shady individuals, tell them N sent you."

N's right hand suddenly flew out of his pocket and threw a cylinder toward the ground. Immediately after the object had collided with the ground there was a loud bang with a simultaneous flash of light.

Yuu brought a hand up to his eyes and blocked out the flash of light with a small groan. When he lowered his arm, N had disappeared. Yuu rolled his eyes, "Great." He scanned the room around him before deciding to find the woman who had been forced into the back.

Yuu could hear the last thug from where he was standing in the next room, "What do you mean you don't know the combination!"

The woman let out a small yelp at the man's tone, "I-I don't know what to tell you, only the owners know the combination." The woman then let out a squeak as the man sent his palm across her face.

Having heard enough, Yuu walked through the doorway and stared at the thug, "That's enough of that."

The woman watched in shock as the raven immediately face planted into the ground, but was even more confused when the thug turned toward the wall and slammed his head against it. Within a second the raven was back on his feet, and the thug had collapsed onto the ground.

Yuu rubbed his forehead and smiled at the woman, "Don't worry, it's over."

"HANDS UP!" A new voice joined in.

Yuu turned toward the voice let out a groan, the police had arrived. Now they would assume he had been the one to commit the crimes when he hadn't broken a single one.

Almost immediately after the police had arrived he had been handcuffed and taken to the police station for questioning. At least they didn't think he had been the one organizing the crime. Once he had arrived at the police station they had questioned him about his name, age, where had been born, etc.

Yuu had been told to wait in an interrogation room while they reviewed his data, and was promptly been thrown into a dull interrogation room that had a single fluorescent light, table, and two chairs. Yuu had been told to sit in the chair farthest from the door, and so he did. He quickly found that the chair he was in was uncomfortable, unmovable and not very soft. As Yuu slumped in his chair he was able to hear two officers whispering from outside the room.

"What do you mean you want to put him in the Provisional License Exam?" The officer let out a breath of disbelief, "With all due respect sir, that's a terrible idea! We don't have any records of him and we don't know his quirk, why would we risk him using his quirk against the other participants doing the exam?"

"He won't be a risk to the other participants doing the exam, besides, you saw the footage." Yuu could hear the man take a sip of what he assumed was coffee, "He took down four criminals and drove the fifth away, yes he broke the law and yes we have no data on him but he can be molded into a hero." The man let a sigh escape his lips, "We all know how much we need that these days.

Only immediately after the officers had finished their conversation did one enter the room. The man wore a white button-up with a black tie, tan business pants, and black shoes. He was an older man with graying combed back hair and a receding hairline.

"Good morning officer," Yuu greeted with a smile, "I'm sorry for all the trouble."

The old man gave a dismissive wave, "No no, you used your quirk to protect someone else no need to feel sorry about that!" The old man sat down in the chair closest to the door, "However, you did break the law."

Yuu tilted his head slightly, "So by defending myself and protecting someone I still broke the law?"

The old man held up a single finger, "One, you didn't use your quirk for self-defense, while you were fighting criminals who were robbing a cafe you struck first." He brought up a second finger, "Two, don't have a Provisional license to use your quirk in a public setting." He brought up a third finger, "Three, while your intentions were good we have to hold somebody responsible. One of the thugs have burned, due to you, and the other one has hypothermia, also due to you."

Yuu's gaze had fallen to the floor as the officer had told him all the wrong he had done. Suddenly an idea popped into his head, "How can I get a provisional license, I mean if I had one I could-?"

The officer shook his head, "Before you continue I have to tell you that we can't do that."

Yuu crossed his arms and let a small scowl appear on his face, "How could I get one then?"

"First," the officer began, "We need your personal information."

Yuu raised an eyebrow, "what do you mean my personal information, I'm a citizen and you have my I.D. it should all be on a record."

"That's the thing," The officer brought a hand to his chin, "We don't have a single shred of data on you. Date of birth, place of birth and quirk, all are unknown to us." The officer continued, "Even if you were able to take the Licensing Exam the nearest one just concluded, and makeup exams are only allowed to people who failed from that session specifically."

Yuu slumped back into his seat, "So what am I supposed to do?"

The officer pulled a folded paper out from his breast pocket and preceded to unfold it, "We'll need you to answer a few questions about yourself, including a few about your quirk and intended use of your quirk."

Yuu let out a small huff before sitting up and grabbing the paper from the officer, "All right, let's see what the questions are."

By the time Yuu had gotten out from the police station, he had answered as truthfully as he could, being that he was from a different world, and left soon after. He gazed up at the sky thought about what N had told him earlier.

"As a reward for showing me such a wonderful… performance, shall you ever need anything from… shady individuals, tell them N sent you."

A smile finally graced Yuu's lips, he had a new course of action.
