Ryu sit comfortably under the cherry blossom tree to eat her lunch as usual. The pink haired girl in front of her has finished her lunch. Mei is drawing a blueprint for her next support item.
"Mei… what high school are you going to apply?" Ryu asked Mei in between her lunch.
"Hmmm… I think I'll apply to UA. Their support department will help me improve myself, and didn't you get a recommendation to go there, Ryu?" The pink haired girl absent-mindedly replied her.
"Well, I did get a recommendation but… I think it's better for me to take the regular examination."
"Why? Isn't taking the recommendation test would be faster?" She stops drawing and turns her head in Ryu's direction.
"Yeah, it is. But I kind of try to do a scheme for the examination. It will risk me to not get accepted, but I have 70 percent confidence that it will pass me." She closes the lid of her lunch box and packing it away.
"But there is 30 percent chance that you won't get accepted then. Didn't you promise me that when you got accepted on hero academia the one who will make your costume is me?" Mei looks confused and betrayed.
"Don't worry Mei. I'll make sure that they will accept me. So you just have to focus on making my costume okay?" She gave Mei one of her sincere smiles and go back to the classroom.
Ten months later, on the day of the examination, Ryu is currently seated beside the explosive kid from the sludge incident. Present Mic is explaining the examination procedure while the green haired kid mumbling about something. Then a kid from Somei Middle School interrupts Present Mic because the booklet says it was four villain in the test but Present Mic just give three.
"And you who have curly hair…" He pointed his finger at the green haired kid.
"You were mumbling about something from the start. You are distracting. If you are here just to have fun then you should go home immediately." This gain a laugh from the other examinee and a quite embarrassed sorry for the green haired kid. Apparently, the fourth kind of robot villain has zero points.
Ryu gets separate ground from the green haired kid and the explosive kid. She is calculating her defeat and looking at her surroundings.
"Kyaa!" A green haired girl is being crushed by the body of robot villain.
"Are you okay?" Ryu made her dragons remove the robot villain from her.
"Ibara!" a boy with the body of steel approach them. "Are you okay?" ask him.
"She just had a minor injury, nothing to worry about. You can have this." Ryu shoved a liquid-like pill into the palm of the girl's hand.
"What is this?" She confusedly asks.
"It is a stamina pill, I guarantee it works. You can take it or leave it, it's your choice." Ryu nonchalantly gets up from the ground. Ibara eats the pill.
"It soothes my aching muscle. Thank you, er—"
"Ryu. My name is Aizawa Ryu. Can you stand? The test is not over yet." Ryu offered her hand to the girl.
"My name is Ibara, Shiozaki Ibara."
"Mine is Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu."
"What?" Ryu incredulously looks at the boy.
"That's my name and don't you comment on it. Just focus on the enemy ahead." The boy nonchalantly said that to Ryu.
"Okay then. Good luck on the remaining time, you two." Ryu dashed back to the fighting area to gain more score.
Truthfully speaking, the robot villain is a piece of cake for Ryu, but the perfect calculation is a pain for her. She had to do it for her plan to work. She dodges a piece of the robot as she ran and uses her quirk to the other robot. She does it for a while until…
"Kyaaa, what the heck is that!?" Scream the exam participants as the ground shake and a giant robot comes from the east side.
"That is the zero point robot!" The screams continue while the participants run away from the robot.
'That's really big for a gimmick robot.' Ryu thought as she tries to run from the zero point robot.
"Tetsutetsu! Please stand up!" That voice halted Ryu's movement and she turns her head toward the source. There, Ibara tries to help Tetsutetsu stand from the rubble that crushed him. Ryu cursed under her breath and she run to help Ibara.
"First Ibara and now you? Couldn't you two be more careful?" Despite her grumbling, Ryu helps Ibara to pull out Tetsutetsu before the giant robot crushed the three of them. But the giant robot gets closer every second they waste to pull the boy.
"You're really heavy! What did your body made from? Steel?" Ryu's complain get her a chuckle from the boy. "My quirk allows me to harden my body into steel. That's why I'm not hurting even if my body under rubble, but I think it won't be long until my quirk run out."
"Then why didn't you say that from the start!" Ryu gives Tetsutetsu an exasperated glare and then she ran toward the giant robot. She took a deep breath and got into a stance. Three dragons come out from her shoulder. Her clothes in the shoulder area are ripped in the process.
In the same time, the dragons shoot a freezing air toward the giant robot. As the giant robot got frozen, she lunged her dragons and made them tipped the robot to the opposite side. The surrounding area suddenly got quiet, the adrenalin rush that she got left her body. Her body lurched forward and she blacked out.
A week after the examination, she anxiously waited for her exam result in the kitchen while she prepared dinner. She was setting the dining table when her father marches to her side.
"You were using your other quirk, am I right?" The lazy voice of her father startled her. She turned around to face the calm-angry face of her father.
"Technically it wasn't my quirk." She slowly tried to reason with her father.
"Don't play dumb Ryu. I know what you're trying to do, and guess what? Your so plan scheme got accepted by principal Nezu." His tone of voice and his facial expression doesn't change while he hands an envelope to his daughter. Ryu hastily opens the envelope and a projection of Midnight comes out.
"Hello, Young one. I've looked at your examination. It was really passionate how you are trying to gain points while you still looked at your surroundings to rescue the other participant." Begin Midnight in her projection. Then she said about how the points awarded. "It was a really long decision and arguments with the other teacher, but this year a rare thing happen in UA. The hero program accepts 40 students in total every year, but this year we decided to accept 41 students. Why do you think we did that? Because you and a student tied in the last place and I—I mean we can't just decide to accept just one so… Congratulation on your passing!"
Ryu smiled at the projection… at least until her father pinched her cheeks. "You still haven't answered my question." The calm-angry voice of her father made her inside crawl with guilt.
"Your face said it all. Didn't we decide this already? Your other quirk has to stay hidden. It would be dangerous and hard for you if the public now your other quirk, did you remember that?" The apparent disappointment in her father voice made a tear roll down from her eyes.
"I know that pa. I know it, but I can't just rip another student's chance to get enrolled into UA. I did it because I just can't stomach it." Her voice quivered.
Her father heaved a sigh and let go of her cheeks. "Then be more careful from now on, I don't want anything bad to happen to you. Okay?"
She gave a little nod and she reaches her father to give him a hug. Well her plan had worked but she felt guilty because she worried her father.
