Chapter 2 - The Return Journey

Cynder Slept well, but Spyro was having a rather odd dream.

-I will find a way, I must-

-But sir, from here it is impossible, it-

-I KNOW! but there is always a way, always-

Spyro jumped awake, startled by the dream. He looked to his side, and at Cynder, who seemed to have cuddled up against Spyro. He backed away a bit, he was still not so sure about Cynder being this close to him, yet he didn't know why.

"Cynder" He said, nudging her wing.

"Wah, not yet" she said, rolling over, like a hatchling.

Spyro sighed, before taking a look at his surroundings. One of the first things that he noticed was that they were in a cave, and that a storm was brewing outside. Spyro then quickly circled around the small space.

"Come on, get up, we need to go, I see a storm" Spyro shouted "Come on, get up, get up!"

"Fine" Cynder said, getting up slowly, as she mumbled to herself, wishing to rest more.

The two quickly got ready, and flew out of the Den. It was about a two hour flight, while they were flying through a forest, when the storm finally hit them.

"We need to find shelter, this rain is god awful" Cynder shouted.

The two flew for about another 10 minutes, looking for a place to sleep

"There" Spyro shouted, pointing towards a hole in the rocky formations that made up the cliffs that were near the forest.

The both flew into the cave, and they laid down, without a worry.

"Bloody Brutal, isn't it" an unfamiliar voice chimed.

Both Spyro and Cynder jumped, and screamed, then got into a defensive stance.

"Ahh, didn't mean to scare you" He said "You got nothing to worry about, I'm a crystalline Dragon, I don't have an element"

"You're a what?" The both said, stepping out of their stance, looking at each other

"I'm a crystalline dragon, we don't breath elements" He said calmly "Names Ashen by the way"

"Nice to meet you" They both said, they were about to introduce themselves, when he cut them off

"I know who you two are" He said, wide eyed "Spyro and…" he back up a bit "Cynder"

"Don't worry, I don't bite" Cynder said jokingly, trying to calm the little white dragon

Spyro looked at Cynder, and then back at Ashen, then asked

"You mind if we sleep here, till the storm dies down?"

"Gladly" Ashen said, still slightly nervous about Cynder "It's not like it's my cave"

The three laughed and lied down

"Spyro" Cynder said

"Yeah" Spyro asked, as he laid his head down

Quickly Cynder grew nervous, though Spyro did not notice this. "Goodnight" Cynder said quickly, she laid her head down

Spyro noticed Cynder got closer to him, he didn't mind too much, but he still wasn't quite comfortable with it yet, and he wiggled backwards silently when he was sure she was asleep. When Spyro awoke, he looked around, and noticed that Ashen was no longer in the cave. He then noticed that the storm had passed.

"Cynder" Spyro said.

"I know, I know, get up" Cynder said, as she tiredly got up.

The two got up, and found some food to eat, then started flying toward Warfang.

"You see Ashen leave?" Spyro asked, looking over at Cynder.

"I hadn't noticed he had left" She replied.

"I wonder why he left" Spyro asked.

"Well, it's not our business to know why" Cynder replied.

With that they continued flying. It was a very silent flight, as Cynder was thinking about the night before, and how she could not tell Spyro what she had wanted to tell him.

"So, Spyro" Cynder asked "What do you plan on doing once we are back at Warfang"

"I haven't thought about that, I didn't think we would still be alive" He replied.

"Well, we could find a place to settle down" Cynder replied, forcing out a smile.

Spyro was shocked that Cynder had said we "I, maybe, I guess we could" He replied quickly.

"You think we should eat?" He said, quickly changing the subject.

It wasn't long before they found, caught, killed, cooked, and ate there lunch.

"I'm feeling quite tired" Cynder said, as she swallowed the last of her bore

"I think I saw a cave not too far from here" Spyro said, as he beckoned for Cynder to follow him

"Well lead the way then" She said, following close behind.

Once Spyro awoke the next morning, he noticed that Cynder had pulled his wing over her. He still wasn't sure how he felt about Cynder being so close. He pulled his wing back, and woke up Cynder.

"Cynder, get up" He said "We are almost there" at that Cynder shot up.

"Then let's get to it, I can't wait to see If anything has changed" Cynder said with a smile on her face

"I wonder what the place looks like, without a giant golem ripping it apart" Spyro said jokingly

The two got up and headed to Warfang, and it wasn't but a few hours till its pearly gates were in sight

"Come on, hurry up" Cynder said "I can see the wall"

And with that they were feet away from the gates, staring up, at the pearly white gate

"We made it" they said
