I haven't really worked out a schedule for when I post new chapters so they'll just show up when I finish them, but hopefully that will be twice a week.
Disclaimer: I only own my OCs and storyline.
Chapter 3
The next couple weeks were pretty normal. There was school and homework and obnoxious classmates and studying for finals, which was normal because finals were the following week, and then there was finals and of course a little bit of superhero work. On the bright side of things school was out which meant there was more time for being a superhero. The only problem was that despite Lucie putting a stop to the YouTube videos, they were slowing getting more and more noticed anyways, which was slightly problematic, especially considering what they were doing may or may not be illegal. Thus far no one had caught them or specifically ordered them to stop though so they figure that as long as they were careful to cause as little damage as possible they'd be okay.
It was last day of finals and Lucie would be a junior in… (She looked down at her watch) nine and half minutes. She had finished her last final, which had been math, a few minutes ago and really wanted to just leave. She looked over to where Peter was sitting, also done with the final. If everyone was done, their teacher would probably let them move around and sign yearbooks. Unfortunately, most of her classmates wouldn't be done until after the bell rang. She noticed her friend Cathy turning in her final. Besides Peter, Cathy was probably the only other friend Lucie had who might be smarter than Lucie. In fact Lucie was surprised that Cathy hadn't finished the final before she had.
Cathy had moved here from Minnesota last summer and had become fast friends with Lucie and by extension Peter. She had kind of long blondish hair. Depending on who you asked it could be blond or light brown. Her eyes light brown, but not hazel, and she was definitely more average height than Lucie.
Lucie looked back down at her watch. Still four more minutes. She looked around the whole room and estimated that at least half of the class still had their final. This class had been a weird one as it was an honor's class and some people were almost failing it. They had wanted a honors class so they would have a better GPA but once you dropped below a B+ you might as well just take non-honors and do better in the class and in the end get a better GPA. Somehow her classmates did not figure this out and never switched to non-honors. Well, at least the school year was going to be over in… one and a half minutes and she wouldn't have to hear them complaining about how confusing math is anymore.
The bell finally rang and the teacher dismissed everyone who was done and told everyone who wasn't done they could keep working.
"Oh my gosh," Cathy said as soon as they got into the hallway. "I, like, completely blanked on the Law of Cosines in the middle of the test for a few minutes."
"Well you remembered eventually though, right?" Lucie asked.
"Yes, I just hate finals. Hey will come with me to my locker to I still need to take out my locker shelf and a few notebooks."
"Sure," Lucie agreed. "It's not like I have anything better to do."
They threaded their way through the hallways all of which were crowded with very excited teenagers. It was in instances like this that being small was useful, Lucie thought.
When they reached Cathy's locker which was right next to Lucie's, Cathy opened it and somehow managed to shove the notebooks into her back pack, but was stuck carrying her locker shelf. Lucie had already cleaned out her locker earlier so she just left it closed.
"I think it's going to rain," Lucie said waiting for Cathy to finish emptying her locker.
"Maybe," Cathy agreed. "Hey do you want to go someplace for ice cream or something?"
"Sure, I'll call my mom," Lucie replied, taking out her phone, which was a flip phone do to her parents believing very strongly in the idea that high schoolers did not need a smart phone.
"Me and Lucie are planning on going to get ice cream so it will be a bit before I get home," Lucie said when her mom answered the phone. "Maybe… We're walking… Okay, bye."
"Did your mom say it's okay?" Lucie asked.
"Yep"
"Alright let's go"
The ice cream shop was within rather easy biking distance of the school and it wasn't long before they arrived. The ice cream shop had quickly become a favorite spot for the two girls to hang out, even if they did always actually get ice cream. Cathy's uncle ran the place and didn't mind them hanging out in the corner.
"Hi girls," the lady behind the counter said, as they opened the door and entered. A little bell rang above them as they entered. As usual there was music playing that neither girl had ever heard outside this place. There was only one other person sitting in the place, which wasn't terribly surprising as it was a quarter after ten in the morning on a Friday.
"Hi Sierra," Cathy replied.
"Are you guys getting anything today?" Sierra asked.
"I'll have a medium rocky road," Lucie said.
"That is literally what you get every single time we come here," Cathy commented.
Lucie shrugged her shoulders. "What? I like it."
"Whatever. I'll have vanilla with m+ms, hot fudge, and whipped cream, please."
"You guys still have credit," Cathy said looking down at the screen in front of her. "Do you want to use that?" Both girls said yes. "Alright I'll have them done in a few minutes."
The girls occasionally worked here, and generally just saved it as credit to send on ice cream or shakes when they came here. They got ice cream cheaper that way.
"Cathy," Lucie said quietly while they sat at the counter waiting for their ice cream. "I feel like that lady in the corner is watching us."
"Lucie," Cathy responded in an equally quiet voice. "You are so paranoid. If she is watching us it is probably because we are the most interesting thing in this place. Oh look Peter."
Lucie spun around, which was very easy to do on those stools, and waved Peter in from outside where he was walking by. Peter noticed them and came inside.
"Where were you guys?" he asked, sitting down next to Lucie.
"Uh, here," Lucie said, pointing to the ground. "Where were you?"
"Getting the rest of the stuff out of my locker and avoiding a fight," Peter responded.
"Well at least you avoided it, right?" Cathy replied.
"Here you go ladies," Sierra said, setting their ice creams down on the counter in front of them, and then turned to Peter. "Do you want anything?"
"I'll just have some water for now," he said.
"Come on Peter you have to have ice cream it's the last day of school," Lucie argued. "We are finally officially juniors."
Peter sighed. "Okay fine"
"Yay!" Cathy and Lucie cheered. It was a perfect beginning to summer vacation. For now.
