Digimon Ch. 3
"Ok students you can now breathe a little easier as of now. The pretest has come to a close." Many sighs of relief and pencil dropping sounds were released as fast as lightning because of those few little words. Ashido was no different during this time. He stretched far and wide but not to the point where he would accidently hit someone. He also yawned in the process.
"I swear this dumb exam is longer and longer each time. How do other people go through this kind of crap multiple times? Then again, I'm one of the longest lasting survivors. But there are worse than me sadly."
"You can all rest up in the commons where free food will be available during your wait. We will post the results for the pretest exam momentarily. So please get up and stretch your legs." The students in the room quickly got up and headed to the commons. Ashido's stomach growled but no one surprisingly heard the low deep moan coming from Ashido's stomach. But that doesn't mean that Ashido wasn't embarrassed. He turned a light shade of red as he clutched his stomach. He quickly got up and ran to the commons hoping that no one heard him.
Ashido was later sitting down while eating a bag of steam buns. He enjoyed eating the buns filled with meat. He was nervous about seeing the results for the pretest. In order to pass the pretest, you had to get a score of 150/200. That's a 75 percent making it a solid C grade. The actual final had a higher score requirement with much tougher questions. The required score is a 170/200 which is an 85 percent. The requirements were strict, but it's how things went.
Ashido looked ahead and saw his good friend Devon not too far away from him and gave off a wave up in the air trying to signal where he was at. Devon saw Ashido at the corner of his eye and grinned as he walked to Ashido with his own food of ramen.
"So how do you think you did?" Devon asked. Ashido just shrugged.
"I don't know, I believe I did just fine. But I can't help but worry."
"Well I'll be rooting for you. Even if I pass and you don't, I'll try to help out as best as I can." Ashido couldn't help but feel a bit guilty.
"I appreciate the help man. But I decided while studying that if I fail this test once again I'm gonna throw away my dream of being a digimon tamer all together." Devon could not believe this was coming from Ashido. "You're the first to hear about this. Not even Maxi nor Kazeroy know about this news."
"…Why?" Devon simply asked out of shock.
"I have to face facts. I might never become a tamer and failing this many times proves it. As I said before, this exam will be my last. The pressure of failing so many times is getting to me. I almost decided to not come today."
"Attention students, the results for the pretest exams have been posted in the exam room. Come on down when finished eating to see your results. We wish you the best of luck to achieve the scores you wanted."
"Now that was quick." Devon said between bites of ramen. "Has it always been that fast?" Ashido nodded in agreement. He ate the last steam bun he had and got up on his feet.
"I guess I'll meet you in the exam room. I'm getting too anxious to stay put." Devon gave off a thumbs up sign along with a nod showing he's good with that. Ashido walked off toward the crowd of students heading towards the exam room. Unfortunatly, it was overly crowded so Ashido had to wait just a few minutes longer. He was fine with it though.
After a short amount of time went by, Ashido already saw disappointed and upset looks on faces and the looks of absolute achievement. By the time Ashido had the chance to look at his own name, he was nervous as heck and time went by slower to him. He got up to the results sheets and after a little bit searching, Ashido found his name. What he found surprised him.
Ashido Meteorite: 158/200
"Are you serious?" Ashido shouted in his head. A huge wave of relief and excitement washed all over him. He restrained himself from cheering in victory right then and there. But people had other plans.
By the time Ashido came back to the commons, he saw many students cheering in excitement. He could swear a miniature party was being thrown. At first Ashido was thinking that they were partially gloating to the ones who failed but they all surprisingly behaved very nice with the ones who failed. They even managed to cheer up the ones who were in depressing slumps. They didn't gloat or boast about their victory.
"Hey, did you pass the pretest?" Ashido turned and saw a girl around his age with an excited look on her face. She had shoulder length brown hair in a slight shaggy style that looks good and light brown eyes. She stands at a height of 5'5. She had a cute appearance and this made Ashido nearly turn pink. But he managed to keep his grip and say with excitement,
"Yes I did. I passed the pretest and now I'm ready to take on the final." The girl had an excited look on her face. She then grabbed Ashido's hand and led him somewhere.
"If that's the case why don't you celebrate with us? You're friend Devon was with me as well and he told me to get you." The girl said with a smile on her face. "He should be back from checking his test scores any minute now."
"Well there's no need to wait anymore." said Devon who came into the tiny group. "I passed with flying colors." Ashido gave Devon a high five and the girl did the same.
"You better have done the same thing." Ashido said with a grin to the girl. "It won't be complete then."
"Of course I did." The girl said back with her own grin. "And just like you, I'm ready to take on the final."
"Well what do you know? Even you passed." Devon said with a laugh. Ashido laughed back at the joke. The group was just about to talk some more when the time was interrupted.
"Everyone, it's good to see you're all happy and excited. But I regretfully have to break the excitement. Because it's now time to take the actual final. We wish everyone in this room to try your very best with no hesitation and pass to achieve your dreams."
Despite the room having an awkward silence for few seconds, the students in the room were surprisingly mellow and went to the exam room. Ashido and co. just merely shrugged in response.
"Well I guess we'll just hope for the best right?" The girl asked. Ashido and Devon both nodded. "I hope you pass the final Ashido." The teenage girl then walked away blending into the crowd. A realization hit Ashido when the girl left.
"Hey how does she know my name?" Ashido asked with confusion. Devon just simply laughed and patted Ashido's shoulder as he walked by.
"You should learn to get to know your classmates Ashido." Devon said with a chuckle. "Trust me, it helps."
Devon walked to the crowd of students. Leaving Ashido alone.
"That girl is a classmate of mine?" Ashido asked mentally. "How come I've never seen her before?" Ashido started to walk to the exam room with a calm but nervous look on his face.
"The time has come. Whether I win or lose this is it. I'll just have to wait and see what happens."
The exam room looked the same as ever, huge, empty, and silent. But when Ashido sat down on his seat, he for some reason felt a bit better about things. He felt a new confidence soar. Ashido easily noticed that the exam room was halfway empty. But Chester, Devon, and the girl from earlier were still in the exam room.
"Students, I'd like congratulate everyone here for passing the digimon pretest. It's amazing to see this many youthful spirits in the building. Unfortunately it's not over yet. There's still one last obstacle to face. The test is right in front of you and when I say go, turn your sheets over and begin the absolute final.
… You may now proceed."
Time skip: 2 hours later
Actually, the actual test ended 15 minutes ago. The exam proctors just needed time to correct all of the exam sheets ASAP. Ashido and co had to stay in their seats unless given further instructions. But they could still talk to their neighbors. Ashido only had Chester Pendragon a couple seats across from him. And he refused to talk to him. He thankfully he didn't have to wait too much longer.
"After much waiting, we have the final scores of the final exam. We should give you a heads up before we announce the names of the ones who passed. Sadly only 2 students passed this year. So stand up and come to the front if you hear your name."
"Holy crap that's the lowest it's ever been." Every single person in the room thought simultaneously.
"Looks like it's over for me." Ashido said in his head while sighing heavily. "I'm never gonna embarrass myself here ever again once this is all over. I'm fed up with the failures."
"And now without further ado, we'll announce the names of the future digimon tamers." Everyone were on the edge of their seats waiting anxiously for the names. Well except Ashido. He didn't care at the moment. "Scoring the highest out of his whole class with a max score of 200/200,… Chester Pendragon!"
"Why the heck am I not surprised a bit?" Ashido sighed when he saw Chester's smug look. He saw something like this coming way over a mile away.
Chester came out of his seat and headed straight for the front of the room to receive his license. The announcer then called for the second student.
"The only other student who passed in this room with a score of 174/200 is,… Titan Mordecai." The student known as Titan came up from where he was sitting to also receive his license. Ashido saw he had a good vibe to him. "Give these two a round of applause to wish them good luck in their adventure."
Everyone in the room gave off their applauses including Ashido.
"So in the end, not even Devon passed. Now that sucks. I was honestly hoping he would pass for sure. Even if he passed and I didn't, I would prefer that over this." Ashido sighed in defeat. "Well,… just like I said earlier today, I'm quiting this game as of now. I'm done dealing with this crap."
"For the rest of you out there, you are now dismissed. Please come back next year." The entire room immediately rose from their seats to walk on home. Some had their heads held high, while others had horrible jobs of hiding their sadness. Ashido was somewhere in between. Ashido heard rushed footsteps coming from the front of the stage and saw a man sprint towards the exam proctor. He seemed to whisper something in his ear.
"Wait a minute!" The exam proctor nearly shouted across the room. Everyone in the room stopped. Even the few who left heard the noise and came back on inside.
"I apologize but, it seems there's one last student who just barely passed the exam. We almost lost this one test. And to that student I sincerely apologize."
"Well whose test is it?" A random student called out anxiously.
"Patience young one, I shall read the name and score to you right now." All of the students in the room all anxious were eagerly waiting for the results. Even Ashido was intrigued by this sudden news.
"The third student to receive a passing score of 170/200,… is none other than Ashido Meteorite."
Well the next chapter is now done haha! I apologize for the long wait and shortness of this chapter. This was a very boring chapter, I know. But luckily that's done and done.
All I ask is that you read, review, and hopefully you enjoy this fun little fanfiction.
