DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN HTTYD
"Down Night!"
The furry animal—known more socially as a wolf—retreated in defeat from the couch and snorted incredulously before she stalked off to the corner of the living room. Fury—Hiccup's ocelot—gave what only could be reasonably described as an extended multi-stage yawn. To believe he had laughed would have defied accepted logic.
Astrid and Hiccup were currently curled up on his living room couch and enjoying Hungarian take-out. The blonde haired female had a habit of mixing up her eating habits with a variety of cultural foods. Hiccup had first learned this when they had started working on their class project together; he had since become well acquainted with the extensive range of restaurants that Astrid enjoyed.
"Does the pecsenye taste off to you?"
He took a small bite from her steak dish and grimaced immediately before nodding in agreement as he took a strong swig from his drink—a bottle containing clear liquid that Astrid had "borrowed" from her father's private stock in the basement of her house.
"That's definitely bad. Here."
Hiccup then handed her one of the half dozen unopened boxes on the table before them and watched as she opened the new container and sampled its contents.
"Mmmm," Astrid hummed pleasantly as she closed her eyes briefly and savored the flavor.
"Better?"
"Yes, thank you."
Astrid's smile was contagious and Hiccup quickly found himself smiling back at the beautiful, intelligent, and amazing girl that he was sharing dinner with. They leaned closer, barely, and a strong whiff of perfume hit Hiccup at the same time as his deodorant hit Astrid.
"You smell nice," both said awkwardly in unison; they both blushed heavily and Hiccup wasn't quite sure it was entirely due to their drinks.
"I...uh," Hiccup started to say, only for Astrid to lean over and capture his lips in a fierce lip-lock. The world exploded immediately into an electric hurricane of energy as the girl climbed onto the boy. Styrofoam containers were shoved away and drinks were nearly spilled as they frantically explored each others mouths.
Brunette locks were mixed with golden curls as soft and flimsy hands were interlocked with petite and calloused ones. It was in their moment of affection that Hiccup felt his heart match a tempo that normally only was heard in a sports car's engine.
Astrid was in the same boat as she panted and moaned lightly as her own heart rate matched her...well she wasn't quite sure what they were. That confusion on classification—normally a must-all for the brilliant Hofferson—was the last thing on her mind though as she kissed the kindest man she had ever met. How he could be related to the scum of the earth would forever be lost on her, but again, she could care less at the moment.
The kissing went on for some time—along with some curious hand play—before they calmed down and returned to their now cold meals. The pair were panting lightly and the still cool taste of their drinks were invigorating.
"What are we even watching?"
"I have no idea," Hiccup replied as he toyed with the remote control that they had all but thrown across the room a few moments earlier. After some effort, an information screen appeared across the television's screen and they found that the background noise they had been ignoring was coming from a comedy.
"I hate comedies."
"What?"
"They have no point."
"But they make you laugh!"
"But their jokes are stupid."
Hiccup was astounded and stared at the blonde beauty incredulously.
"How can you not find that funny?" He asked following a short blurb of speech from the comedy's main character. The act predating the social sequence was hilarious in itself to Hiccup, but the dialogue just sealed the deal in his opinion.
"It was corny and he overplayed his responses the entire time," Astrid informed him blatantly with a snarky role of the eyes.
"Can you even laugh?"
"Of course I can laugh!"
"I don't think so," Hiccup teased with a smirk.
"You have heard me laugh before."
"Oh-ho-ho, you can't fool me that easily."
"I can laugh." Astrid wasn't showing it yet, but Hicup could tell her was annoying her by being so annoying himself.
"Can't."
"Can."
"Can't." His taunting tone was riling her up like never before.
"Can." Her teeth were almost grinding together now.
"Bet you you can't."
"I bet I can."
"Nope."
"Yep."
"No."
"Yes." Astrid was glaring at him now as she moved closer to the brunette haired boy.
"You wouldn't laugh even if I tickled you," Hiccup argued with a gleam in his eyes.
"You wouldn't dare." Astrid's wary blue eyes locked with Hiccup's mischievous green ones.
He lunged forward and caught her by surprise as he reached over and tickled Astrid's sides. She had been sipping on her drink—they had been bickering back and forth for awhile now—when he did this and thus she spewed its contents all over the table and carpet before and below her. Before she could scold him, her eyes widened and she began to grimace before she finally gave in and immediately began releasing belly-contorting laughter.
"H-H-Hiccu-up! S-stop!"
"Make me!"
His face was defiant and Astrid could rarely ignore a direct challenge—especially from him—so she somehow managed to move her arms around to his uncovered feet and began to attack them. The result was Hiccup bouncing around in a similar manner to hers as he laughed uproariously as well. The two got so into their tickle-battle that they fell off the couch with a loud thud.
Fury hissed and Night barked as they advanced to the fallen pair's location on the floor between the couch and the coffee table. Both were curled up around each other and laughing even harder than before.
"Told you I could laugh."
"That was forced though," Hiccup reminded her pointedly.
"Hiccup." Her tone should have warned him to just shut up.
"Yes?"
WHAM!
"Ow!" Hiccup cried out as he held onto his bruised arm while wincing slightly.
"That was for being dumb."
"Okay, that-"
"This is for making me laugh." Astrid then leaned forward and caught Hiccup's lips again in an eager kiss. The brunette surprised her by returning the kiss with more force than he normally did and Astrid quickly found their position reversed as she was flipped over onto her back.
She had kissed a lot of boys in her seventeen years—most of them jocks or members of the "cool crowd" that so often dominated the social world—and she had come to the conclusion that none kissed as well as Hiccup. He wasn't as forceful, though it wasn't a one-sided kind of thing; he wasn't trying to force himself into her mouth, he just created an enjoyable feeling and let it flow out into her. It was touching and she loved it.
For Hiccup, kissing Astrid was amazing simply because he had never kissed a girl before. He had never told her, but he was sure she knew—she was smart like that—and thus was lost as to why she liked to kiss him. He had to be bad at it, but he didn't know for sure because he had never thought to ask her. All that mattered to him was Astrid and being with her after so many years.
The comedy went by and several more shows came and went as well. Eventually they slowed down their pace and they were calm enough to start breathing normally again. Well, mostly normal breathing.
"Are we staying here tonight?"
Hiccup was caught off guard by the question and he was actually lost for words. He was still getting used to kissing Astrid and spending time with her, he hadn't even contemplated that he might spend another night with her.
"Uh..."
"I can go back to my place...I mean...uh..."
"No." Hiccup was surprised at the calmness in his voice.
"So then w-were staying here tonight?"
"Y-yeah...if uh, if y-you'd like to."
Astrid smiled up at Hiccup—he had never gotten off of her—and leaned up to kiss him lightly.
"I'd like that a lot actually." Astrid was giving him a knowing look that indicated she would like nothing better than to spend the night with him once again.
"Uh, o-okay."
After leaving out their leftover dinner and filling up two bowls of water for both Night and Fury—both of which were upset that they were being kicked out of Hiccup's bed for the night—the two teens headed upstairs. They were both blushing and stumbling over their words, but they made it to his room after only tripping on every other step on the stairs.
"Ta-da," Hiccup said softly as he swung his arm around his small, modest, bedroom that had been his residence since he was born. Evidence of his life was scattered around the house: photos of his childhood and teenage years; science and engineering projects for school dating back nearly two decades; clothes that fit or didn't fit him as the case may be.
It was all an unorganized and chaotic mess that was only further reinforced by the mismatched coloring of the walls. It was like a bomb of paint had gone off, no two square feet were the same at any point along the four plaster walls. The carpet was also a hodgepodge of colors and the roof was oddly enough decorated by a massive mirror. Equations, diagrams, and drawings were all taped across every surface of the room from the walls to the furniture to even the mirror on the roof.
"This place is amazing," Astrid murmured softly as Hiccup led her inside. He had been expecting disgust at the mess or appall at the terrible lack of uniformity in the design.
"R-really?"
"Of course!" Astrid looked at him in surprise before she examined the room in detail. He had no computer or any real form of electronic equipment—something she had learned earlier during their history project—but he seemed to be getting by fine with paper, pencil, and pen. It was almost attractive that he didn't need modern technology to express his own genius—perhaps it actually was, she was starting to think so the more she saw.
"I should have t-tided up," Hiccup muttered as he began to move a stack of drawings over to his desk, only to be stopped by the girl of his dreams.
"It's fine. These look amazing." Astrid plucked a paper off the top of the stack and examined the blueprints in detail. Her face was contorted in a pleasant way and Hiccup nearly dumped the stack of remaining papers as he stared at her.
"You designed a new harness for horses?"
"Uh...its actually for Night..." Hiccup admitted awkwardly.
Astrid looked at him, her face half-shocked, half-curious.
"I was really bored..."
"Ah."
Hiccup nodded and hurriedly snatched the paper away before placing it back on the stack.
"You can take a shower down the hall if you want," Hiccup informed her politely as he gestured out his doorway, unsure as to what to say. He assumed girls would prefer to shower before bed—though Astrid wasn't like most girls—and hoped she wouldn't become offended and think it was some sick form of a come-on. It must have been the right thing to ask though, because Astrid's face lit up in relief filled gratitude as she nodded briefly before frowning.
"Do you have any clothes I could borrow? To sleep in?"
Hiccup could only swear at his own stupidity.
"Yeah, h-hold on." The design enthusiast walked over to his closet and pulled out a soft green t-shirt and a pair of khaki shorts that he hoped would fit Astrid's lithe frame.
"That'll fit nicely," Astrid said with a wink before disappearing out into the hallway.
Hiccup was left wondering if he should have done something else. She had made it very obvious that she liked him, yet here he was offering her overly modest clothing. He didn't want to seem like a pig, but he also didn't want Astrid to think he didn't like her as well.
Why did relationships have to be difficult?
He paused.
Was that what they were? Were they in a relationship? Or was he just there to comfort her?
He couldn't tell.
But he could.
But he couldn't.
Crap.
Deciding to stop wasting time hurting his brain, Hiccup resolved to talk with Astrid when she got back from her shower and sat down at his desk to draw. Pulling a fresh piece of paper out from a drawer and gathering up a number of different pens and pencils from a container, Hiccup went to work drawing.
He started with a design of a car, but he ended up on another piece of paper sketching out Astrid. There had been several boyish attempts at capturing his life-long crush's features, but they had all failed miserably.
This time though, he knew every curve to her body; he knew every strand of hair; he knew what she felt like and looked like and smelled like. The pencil was moving almost on auto-pilot as he sketched her fluidly before using his pens to draw in the actual picture before further coloring it in. the image itself was a staggering likeness of Astrid and Hiccup was momentarily stunned at the outcome.
"Hiccup?"
Her voice was pure sin.
Hiccup turned around and found Astrid standing in the doorway of his bedroom and his mouth quite literally fell open.
Astrid was wearing nothing but his soft green t-shit and her underwear.
The shirt was a big big on her, but it still barely covered her curves; in fact, it was more seductive than concealing in its marginally offered length. Her body was lightly glowing due to the shower and her hair was still half-wet as she stared at him with a wide smile. The Hofferson females rarely let their hair down—it was some sort of sacred family thing—and tonight Astrid's hair was completely down.
The look was stunning. Hiccup could hardly breathe, much less think, as Astrid nimbly strutted across the carpet to his bed—she was practically sashaying—and sat down deftly on the covers. The way she was sitting let him see miles of soft tan skin, but still kept her as decent as she could be in the circumstances.
"Are you coming to bed?"
Oh Thor help him.
"Y-y-yes..." Hiccup stuttered as he sat up—painfully—and walked over to where Astrid was sitting. As he walked over, she effortlessly removed the covers and rolled over onto her back. Hiccup, stunned at how coy and inviting she was being, slid into the bed with a mixture of awe and fear.
"Do you like this shirt?" Astrid still had a sinful tone to her voice—though a strong blush now adorned both of their features—as she rolled again to lay half on, half off of Hiccup's own body.
"N-not at a-all..."
"Good. I'm keeping it." Astrid leaned down and kissed him passionately as her hands moved over his body. Hiccup groaned heavily as he felt her move on top of him more and his own hands soon joined in on the wandering movements of the night.
"Hiccup," Astrid breathed out as she kissed him once more, her breath hot on his face and her tone indicating that she was eager for some sort of response from him. Something more than just touching and kissing.
Thor help him.
Her shirt—his?—was off in half a second and he was fumbling with her bra clasp when she bit him hard on his shoulder. He would never know if it was Astrid biting him or just the gods answering his thoughts, but Hiccup had a sudden moment of clarity.
"We have to stop."
"W-what?" Astrid breathed out, her entire body panting as she looked down at him in surprise—though thankfully not disgust.
"I...we...this-"
WHAM!
"I don't want to do this!" Hiccup cried out suddenly as Astrid flexed her palm painfully.
"Oh." Astrid's face looked crushed and her eyes were downcast as she moved to get off of him. Hiccup instead grabbed her around her waist and brought her back for an earth shattering kiss; the passion and emotion in the lip-lock immediately stopped all thoughts in her head as Astrid held onto Hiccup like she would a liferaft in a violent storm.
"Astrid..." Hiccup began as he removed his mouth from hers, though he kept her pressed tight to him.
"Yes?" Her voice was so quite it hurt him.
"I like you...I like you a lot..." Hiccup paused briefly as she looked at him in a mixture of confusion as well as longing.
"I...I do too..."
"I know...the gods know I want to go farther than ever right now, right here. But this isn't right. You're still off balanced from what my cousin did...we can't just give in like this..."
"I...I..."
"I'm not saying I don't want you, I'm just saying I don't want to go farther now," Hiccup told her as he placed a soft finger against her lips in an incredibly intimate way.
"This...isn't how it's supposed to work," Astrid said softly, a rare smile—a true smile—dawning on her features.
"We aren't exactly what you could call a normal couple."
"Are we a couple?" Astrid asked as she stared at him.
"We are." And with that, Hiccup captured her lips again and then pulled her even closer. The two curled up without a word—both feeling immensely happy—and immediately fell to sleep.
Sorry for the delay, I hope that this makes up for it guys! Thanks for being so loyal!
