Chapter 4-
"You don't seriously believe anything she said . . . do you?" June asks with slanted eyes as she looks down at the young Avatar with a raised eyebrow.
Aang slows down his pace so he is walking side by side with June instead of slightly ahead of her. Looking up at her, he offers her a small, half smile and shrugs her shoulders, "Well, yeah, June, I kinda do."
Her movements immediately freeze once she hears his answer and she looks at him in disbelief, "Wait, you do?! C'mon, Aang, she's full of it!"
"I don't know," He quickly says with a heavy sigh, "I think Enda is telling the truth."
"Riiiiiight," She draws out as she rolls her eyes, "I'm so sure 'Enda' is going to make us magically appear in the future."
"There is only one way to find out . . ."
"Oh?" She questions, curious to what Aang has in mind. "And what's that?"
Around twenty-five minutes later, Aang and June both show up at the prison. June follows Aang into the prison compound, unsure of what the young Avatar is planning.
She folds her arms neatly across her chest, "Now where to?"
"Over here!" Aang shouts as he starts running towards a large gate. Rolling her dark eyes, June follows Aang to the gate.
Aang sees one of the guards on the floor, holding his head as his face scrunches up in pain. Huh? He quickly rushes to the guard's side and kneels beside him, "Wha- what happened?"
"Avatar Aang!" The injured guard cries, "Oh, thank the Spirits you are here! It was s- so horrible! It was incredible though!"
June offers the guard a hand, helping him up on his feet as she softly, but sternly, questions him, "What happened?"
"A- Azula!" He stutters, "And some man! Azula was screaming and yelling and then, out of nowhere, a man, who I would have to say middle aged and was wearing a white mask with red lines on it, and wearing a black outfit and a hood, came. He- he attacked us and that's all I remember. That's when he chi-blocked me and I got knocked out."
"Chi-blocked?" Aang frowns. He's heard of it before, Ty-Lee used to do it, but it's strange. Not many can do it, not that Aang knows of, anyways.
"What? You never heard of it before?" A witty voice calls from behind the group, "And are you going to ask, or, would you rather me just say it?"
Everyone turns around and looks to see where the voice is coming from, to see who it belongs to. They finally find a woman walking out of the shadows and towards them. Her hair is a dark chocolate color and messy, and her face and body is scratched, bruised, and bloody.
A quiet gasp escapes Aang's lips as his eyes land on the injured woman. Before he could say anything, the guard speaks up first, "Anastasia-"
She raises her hand and snaps, "Don't! I don't want to hear anything from you. I lost my bending because I was trying to save yours."
"Are you seriously blaming me? I didn't ask for you to push me out of the way!"
"But I did! I told you to get back up and you just stood there and watched!" She screams, the anger burning in her eyes as her blood boils in her veins.
"I-" He tries, but June decides to intervene in order to cut some of the growing tension, "Wait, what do you mean you 'lost your bending'?"
"That's exactly what I mean." Anastasia coldly replies through clenched teeth, "That man . . . he said his name was- was Amon, he took my bending. Just like what you did to the ex- Fire Lord Ozai. He put his thumb on my forehead and took my bending!"
She lets out a heavy sigh as she shakes her head sadly, "He is a monster and he needs to be stopped." She turns to leave, but suddenly stops, "Oh, and Amon . . . he didn't just come and leave, he also took Azula." Without saying another word, she turns and leaves.
"We need to do something." Aang determinedly says with a sharp nod. He can't just do nothing. Enda wasn't wrong and she wasn't lying.
"You can't get back her bending?" The guard asks with furrowed eyebrows. He could take someone's bending, could he give someone's bending back?
Aang looks down at the ground, shaking his head slowly, he mumbles, "No . . . no, I can't. I can only take away the bending. I- I don't know how to restore it yet."
"Come on," June quietly says to Aang, nudging him on the side a bit, "let's tell the others and get back to Enda."
The Avatar opens his mouth to respond, but nothing comes out. His eyes fall back to the ground as he nods his head slowly. His sad eyes become fixated on the ground and June can only pray to the Spirits that whatever is to come, they could get through it.
June nods to the guard once more and with that, the two of them are off to tell the others what is going on.
