The Darkest Side of Me

Jacob Black stood under the spray of the hot water coming from his shower with his eyes closed trying to comprehend what he was feeling. He didn't understand why he was suddenly out of sorts with himself. The young man had chalked it up to loosing Bella because of what he became. He wished that he could still be her friend and keep his promise. Jake didn't want to even begin to imagine what she was going through with the loss of his friendship.
He felt like he was finally getting through to her, but Sam had issued the order of leaving her alone and he was forced to give her up. Jacob didn't have the courage to ask his father for any new information on the girl because he knew it would just torture him knowing how much pain she was in.
The shower was turned off in another second as he stepped out of the tub drying himself off with a forest green towel. Jacob moved away from thinking about Bella and back to the matter at hand. He felt like he was being pulled in two different directions literally being ripped in half and he didn't have a clue to why that was.
It's probably lack of sleep, he thought as he wrapped the towel around his waist to head into his room.
He didn't know it but everything was about to change.
It only took one bite to set the wheels in motion and Jacob was in for a rude awakening.

"I'm heading out," Jake called over his shoulder to his Dad who was reading a book in the living room.
"Alright, son. Don't forget to stop at the Ateara store to get things for dinner."
"Sure, sure." He said walking out the door.
The gray clouds loomed overhead threatening rain but he didn't care as it was good to just be outside. He was feeling even more restless than before. It was like there was a pain in his chest and he absentmindedly rubbed it as if it would make it go away. The young wolf decided to walk to Embry's house because he could use the quiet that his best friend always provided. Em never pushed and he was most helpful during the time when Jake's Mom had passed away. Sometimes they would just sit on the Call's back porch in silence looking out not really seeing anything. He will never forget that because Embry was able to provide him with some comfort where as no one else could reach him during that awful time.
It was a quiet walk to his home and with every step that Jacob took he felt a little of his discomfort slip away. When he did reach his childhood friend's home he was about to walk in when he heard a giggle coming from the inside. His brow furrowed trying to place where he had heard it before. Jacob shrugged as he opened the door anyways and walked in.
He stopped dead in his tracks seeing Bella straddling Embry's laps as he sucked on her neck. Hot fiery rage coursed through Jacob's body and his body began convulsing at the sight of his girl with Embry.
"What the fuck?" He shouted at them causing Bella to fall off Embry's lap in surprise.
"Jacob," she whispered letting Embry help her to her feet.
"Embry you have five minutes to get outside so I can kill you or I'm going to fucking destroy your house along with you." I growled taking a step forward. Embry pushed Bella a few feet behind him with an eerily calm expression on his face despite the tension flooding the room.
If Jacob had been in the right mind he would have noticed the differences in his friend right away. The way he now towered over Jacob was something to cause suspicion because Jacob and Sam had always been the tallest. His eyes were hard and lupine like nothing at all like the Embry he knew.
"Jacob go home, now." Embry's bass voice rang out around the room and Jacob could feel the Alpha timbre to it. He shook his head trying to get the weight of the order off of him. It wasn't as strong as Sam's but he could still feel it's affect on him.
"What the hell happened to you? Why the fuck are you with Bella? Answer me!" Jacob shouted and out of the corner of his eye he saw Bella flinch.
"You're scaring my mate-"
"She's mine!"
Embry chuckled darkly and it caused the ire in Jacob to grow hotter inside of him.
"You will go home right now Jacob and cool off. You will not say a word to anyone about what has happened, do you understand?" Embry spoke with so much force that Jacob couldn't help the shudder that ran through his body.
"No, I won't."
In a move so fast that Jacob barely had time to register it he was pushed against the wall of the living room an elbow to his throat keeping him from moving and breathing. His wide eyes took in the ferocious look in Embry's eyes that were a piercing shade of yellow.
"Do as I say," The alpha spat digging his elbow into Jacob's throat as Jake's hands tried pushing him away but Embry didn't budge an inch.
Jacob was struggling to breathe and his wide eyes turned to Bella who had tears streaming down her face. He didn't want to upset her anymore than she already was and Embry choking him was making his will crumble.
"You will go home and you will not speak of anything you saw today," Embry growled snapping Jacob's eyes back to his. The wolf finally submitted to the new Alpha's order and turned his head away showing his vulnerability to the dominant wolf.
Embry pushed away from him and Jacob began to gasp for breath. He could feel the bruises around his throat heal but it still didn't take the sting away. His whole body shuddered from the direct order and he walked out of the house. He wanted to tell his Dad and pack what was going on with Embry, but the order kept the words from coming out.
Jacob's feet were dragging as he didn't want to go home but he had no choice in the matter.
He vowed that he would make Embry pay and that thought was what kept him from exploding out of sheer anger.
