Italy, Vongola HQ…
Gokudera Hayato grumbled as he threw his tie unto the table. His irritation is palpable as he remembered what happened approximately two hours ago.
Flashback
"Hey, hey, look what Lambo-san got here!" the cow-suit announced, attracting all attention in the room. Right now they're having a meeting of a secret mission from Reborn—even Hibari and Mukuro participate! However, Tsunahime was excluded from them; according to Reborn's orders which he neglected to give reasons.
An awkward silence erupted as they looked suspiciously at the green toy-ball-like thing in his hands— especially this one has a skull drawn on it. One could only guessed what it meant.
"What the hell was that you stupid cow?" Gokudera finally break the ice. "I've told you not to take anything suspicious!"
"Bwee, I find this near the library," Lambo said proudly.
"I'll bite you to death for stealing herbivore," a deep irritation aura came out from Hibari; what Lambo did just putting oil to fire of Hibari's crowding-allergy. Yamamoto laughed before he turned to Lambo.
"Well then you should put it back, or else someone might look for it," Yamamoto said with a smile. Lambo swiftly turned his body, hugging the ball protectively.
"This is Lambo-san's!"
"Why you cow-thief!" Gokudera was about to catch the little cow, if only Lambo didn't trip and hit the ball right under his belly. With a gasp, a green smoke filled the room; earning coughing sounds erupted in the room. Ryohei quickly find the door and slid it open, letting all the occupants of the room to exit the smoke-filled place. All of them locked in a deadly silent.
"Kufufufu, well that was a surprise," Mukuro finally said. "Now that everything was a mess, I'll go home."
"What the-"
"Hmph, I don't have all day for this ridicules," Hibari cut Gokudera's words before he left. In split seconds, Mukuro and Hibari gone from view, leaving Gokudera, Yamamoto, Lambo, and Ryohei stood still in the quiet hall. Gokudera turned to Lambo with dangerous eyes, making the smaller kid gulped.
"It's all because of you stupid-cow!"
Flashback end
Gokudera sighed; it's only fortunate that Tsunahime didn't join the meeting— it would be disastrous and humiliating. Gokudera looked over his clock, showing almost eleven p.m., no wonder he's already sleepy (and extremely tired). He groaned as he went to the bathroom for a quick bath and went to sleep.
Gokudera opened his eyes and saw that he's in his room, of course. He groaned as he sat up; of all days he has to be awake tonight? Suddenly an explosion blew off his entire wall, making him quickly jolt to his feet. Gokudera quickly turned to battle-mode, preparing for the worst. When nothing came again, the next thing came to his mind was his boss. 'Hime!'
As the proud right-hand man of the Tenth Vongola, he quickly makes a run to the door, ignoring the ruins from the ceiling. When he reached Tsuna's room, he quickly opened the door, but all he could see was smoke. With his reflex and instinct, he stepped into the room despite he barely could see a thing. The only thing received by his nerves was the sound of chaos from outside the room.
"Hime!" Gokudera kept shouting as he tried to search through the smoke. He didn't care if his throat was dry or whatever, he just have to make sure his boss' safety. Suddenly a large explosion once again destroyed one of the sides of the humongous room. He coughed and cursed under his breath before the smoke miraculously cleared up.
Gokudera sharpened his eyes for better view but the only thing that he saw after the heavy smoke was a figure— laying in pool of blood on the bed. His breath stopped and his blood froze as he saw the brunette didn't move. Gokudera inhaled sharply as he felt every inch of his energy zapped from him; his body numb. "HIME!"
"!" Gokudera jumped from his bed with sweat all over his body. He looked around and saw nothing has changed, 'What the heck was that dream?' He could feel himself panting and his heart raced very fast. He looked down and saw his hands trembling wildly as they clenched the blanket tightly. Gokudera gulped before a realization came to him. 'Hime!'
He quickly got off the bed and ran to the door, rushing to Tsuna's room not far away from his place. Much to his surprise, the other guardians came to the same place as him as soon as he reached the door. They looked at each other and noticed that they're all having panic and stern eyes; even Lambo too! Not to mention some of them looked as if blood drained from their faces. Him, especially.
"Is this a joke?" Lambo asked with panic laced in his tone at this all-too-right accident of them gathering here in the middle of the night.
"Just open it," Hibari growled. The others, including Lambo agreed, even without moving a muscle. Gokudera, who's the nearest to the door quickly try to turn the knob but to no avail.
"Damn, it's locked!" Gokudera bit his lip with frustration.
"We have to break it with force," Mukuro said a second later.
"I'll do it," Yamamoto suggested, already taking out his sword. The others stepped back to give Yamamoto some space. Without breaking a sweat, Yamamoto quickly cut the door into pieces. As soon as the door gone, they immediately enter the room with ready-to-fight aura around them.
"Hime!" Gokudera exclaimed as if they were in a true war but what greeted them was a puzzled look from Tsuna and blank looks from Verde and Reborn who was sitting around the table. An awkward silence fell.
"G-Gokudera-kun? And… everyone?" Tsuna stood up from her seat and about to walk toward them if not being beaten by her storm guardian. "What's the-"
"Hime are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" Gokudera rained her with questions. Tsuna looked at him confusedly; not knowing which one she should answer first. Seeing his serious eyes, she has to reassure herself that she's fine. Looking down at her legs and arms, she really didn't feel in any pain.
"I-I'm fine, Gokudera-kun," Tsuna put her hand on his to assure him. Realizing that he has held her too tightly, he quickly pulled back his hand before muttering an apology. "Gokudera-kun?"
"We were… we're just thinking that…" Gokudera paused for a while, searching for the right word to say. "… That something happened to you."
"Well… everything's okay here," Tsuna nodded her head a few times, trying to process what Gokudera just said. She turned at her tutor, who has an unreadable expression. Well, that's some convincing.
"Are you sure Tsuna?" Yamamoto asked this time. Tsuna looked at the not-losing seriousness on his eyes.
"Well, I'm quite sure…" Tsuna said slowly, now even more confused; she's not the one who's left out is she? But seeing all of her guardians' worried expression, she started to doubt her validity, "What brings you all here anyway?"
"I got this dream that there's an attack to this HQ and that you're in danger," Gokudera explained hurriedly. "Everything seemed so real and in exact place as reality so I think that it was a sign."
"Same here," Yamamoto said with wide eyes and surprised expression on his face. "Only that in my dream we're still in Namimori and that someone targeted you."
"Mine's the same too!" Lambo gasped. "But what I see is Tsuna-nee being stabbed when I play with I-pin. It was so scary!"
"Extreme coincidence! I dream that you and Kyoko were being kidnapped by some bad guys!" Ryohei exclaimed. Now each one of them already put down their battle-position, but the stuffed feeling still in the air. Tsuna looked taken aback by their explanations. In fact, she felt shivers on her back by a second.
"Don't tell me that Hibari-san and Mukuro also dream the same thing of me being… murdered and everything?" Tsuna asked to both figures. Hibari just scoffed and looked the other way which they took as a 'yes' while Mukuro snickered.
"Kufufufu, strictly speaking, my dream is the most dramatic and elegant of all," Mukuro said earning everyone to look at him with curious eyes. "I see you're being poisoned and was dying slowly."
The way he said it involuntarily drew a gulp from her. Another awkward silence.
"O…kay, this is getting really weird," Tsuna mumbled; feeling slightly disturbed of what they said. "Do you all read the same horror book together, watch movie together, or… I don't know, sharing scary stories?" 'Although that might be scarier than the story itself,' Tsuna sweat dropped.
Suddenly all of them seemed to have each one of their bulbs turned on.
"Oh! Speaking of togetherness… today we did have a meeting…" Lambo said earning sharp looks from the other fellow guardians.
"But the stupid cow just have to ruin everything," Gokudera said before turning to Lambo. "That's why I told you not to take anything suspicious! This must be because of that damn ball you brought!"
"Kufufufu, looks like tonight I'll get to have a living toy after a while," Mukuro said with an especially dangerous evil chuckle. His eyes directed at the youngest guardian, "It's been a long while since I have one."
"I'll bite you to death, herbivore," Hibari said with a dangerous look; one of the scariest look he ever has. Lambo shrieked in panic for his life. Fortunately, Tsuna diverted the topic back to its main question.
"Ball? What ball?" Tsuna tilted her head. Her storm, mist, and cloud guardian paused from… whatever they intended to do to the young Bovino.
"Well, Lambo brought an extremely weird green ball; it even has a skull on it! Then it produced extreme smoke!" Ryohei explained. Verde's eyes widened and something clicked on his posture. But, well, nobody noticed except Reborn, who smirked knowingly.
"Well… maybe it's a trap from other enemy family?" Tsuna asked before huffing and crossed her arms, "And why am I being the victim of your dreams anyway? Do you have a grudge or something after I sent you all to Russia last mission?"
The guardians glanced at each other. Their last mission in Russia was harder—much harder, than the usual missions. Apparently it's a form of punishment from their boss, who's just tired of dealing their destruction at the HQ, which produced even more paperwork for her, and hence the mission.
They were against it at first, even more when they all have to go and cooperate like good friends. Hibari disliked the idea and so does Mukuro, Lambo said he's too lazy to go, Ryohei and Yamamoto tried to persuade the two, while Gokudera's plainly angry at their disobedience of the boss' orders.
Either way, after almost a month, they went home much quieter, although they returned with a few grumbles and unhappiness on their faces. Tsuna remembered picking them up at the airport and saw Hibari muttering killing some herbivores, Mukuro snickered much more suspicious than ever, Ryohei frowned and crossed his arms, Lambo looked as if going to cry, Yamamoto has a sheepish-like smile, while Gokudera was too jolly for his own good. Well, simply to say, the trip must've turned awful.
Ryohei cleared his throat. "Well… this was this and that's that. Either way, we won't have a grudge over such trivial thing."
"That's right, Hime!" Gokudera added fiercely. "We won't ever, ever hold a grudge against you!"
Tsuna sweat dropped and stepped back at the, err, intense burning passion. She nodded, "I know, Gokudera-kun. I'm just wondering, since it's strange that I'm the only victim in your dreams right?"
"Hmm… indeed it's strange," Verde posed thoughtful. The others turned at him.
"What are you talking about, cutting in the conversation?" Gokudera glared at the lightning arcobaleno. Verde, however, ignored it.
"I'm pretty sure that my experiment should have a different effect," Verde frowned with conflicted look. On the other hand, some figures already catch up with his… explanation.
"Your… experiment?" Gokudera asked without blinking. "So you're saying that, we're having this… nightmare because of you?"
"Hmm… apparently so." Verde answered as if it's the most normal thing in the world. A vein popped on Gokudera's temple and he was about to rush at the scientist, only to be stopped by both Yamamoto and Tsuna. However, Tsuna saw the clear killing intent from her cloud and mist guardians behind.
"G-geez," Tsuna groaned, also realizing the amused smirk on her tutor, and the indifference attitude of the scientist. 'Why's peace never occurred here when they're here?'
"But it's strange, still," Verde continued, and they all braced for impact, especially Tsuna. She just knew that whatever he's going to say just gonna pour oil to the fire. But strangely, her hyper intuition tingled in a good way.
"What's strange, Verde-san?"
"That experiment should affect your memories and showed it in your dream," Verde explained. "However, it's not that you're supposed to be dreaming about Sawada Tsunahime. That device should've only triggered you in seeing your worst and unwanted scene."
Tsuna blinked absentmindedly. Her guardians froze in place. Reborn smirked as if saying 'as I've expected'.
Then the green Arcobaleno scoffed and shrugged, "Well, that just meant it's a failure or…" he, too, has an equally annoying smirk with the hitman's. Tsuna resist cringing at the two adults. "You've grown to care the Decimo more than you've thought."
Then there's a drastic change in each of her guardians' expression.
"O-of course! Hime is the most important person to me!" Gokudera said proudly, with a tint of red in his cheeks. Yamamoto laughed.
"Well… I wouldn't want to see Tsuna hurt or something," Yamamoto scratched his cheeks.
Ryohei nodded, "I've extremely accepted her as my second sister. Maybe that's why."
"Hmm… that's right," Lambo agreed, albeit still a little bit off the trail.
"Ku… Kufufu, you think I care for the Vongola?" Mukuro questioned with you-dare-to-say-otherwise tone. Although all of them inwardly agreed that he's trying too hard… The most surprising one was the cloud's reaction though. He didn't run amok or anything, just glared—although the glare itself could kill already.
Tsuna stifle a chuckle seeing her guardians' reactions. Heh… they really were acting kinda out of characters. Like, they have exaggerated reactions— Gokudera keep exclaiming about his genuine follow for her, Yamamoto keep laughing sheepishly, Ryohei keep nodding and mumbling something, Lambo stared blankly, Mukuro keep snickering with this… dark aura around him, while Hibari… well, his blood-lust was crystal clear, let's leave it at that.
Her lips twitched into a smile. Geez… why're they making her loving them more and more?
After trying her best to hold the laughter in, she finally burst out laughing when she saw her older brother figure, Dino, slammed the door opened. "Tsuna! Is there something wrong? I heard…"
After a momentary confusion amongst the group of teens, their attention drove back to her, hearing her jeer laughter. Without warning, she lunged herself at Gokudera and Yamamoto—who's the nearest position to her at the moment, and hugged them tightly, sending their face color into deep red. Some pair of eyes widened, especially a certain blond. Verde looked amusedly at the result of his project, while Reborn make a mental note to tell his disciple a thing or two about, err, opposite genders attraction.
"Thank you, Yamamoto, Gokudera-kun…" she breathed out. They both looked at the brunette and felt warm on their chest. Gokudera stammered something like a 'thank you', while Yamamoto laughed and claimed that they're friends. She recollected the times they've cheered her up, even without them even realizing it, just by being there with her. How they protected her—how they fought side by side.
As sudden and abrupt as before, she released the hug, and turned to Ryohei and Lambo—just a few steps behind her first two guardians. When she hugged her sun and lightning, they have a grateful smile with a more composed reaction. They, after all, have expected it, and besides, their relationship was just like siblings.
"Thank you, onii-san, Lambo," she smiled at the two. Ryohei nodded with a smile himself while Lambo has teary eyes from being touched. Well, it's been long that Ryohei saw her as his second younger sister, while Lambo saw her as his big sister. They've taken care one another like siblings, but of course, whenever duties call, they'll act professional. But still, she's grateful that she ever felt the feeling of having a sibling, since she's an only child.
Releasing her hug softly, she tilted her head at her two last guardians. They have unreadable expressions and Tsuna truthfully doubt they'd gonna appreciate such gesture, let alone let her do it. But still, she wanted them to know her feelings, so…
With a meaningful smile, she almost literally skipped toward them with every occupants' eyes glued on her. Mukuro twitched, "Oh no, don't you even think about it Vongola-"
He was silenced when she kissed his cheek. There was an awkward silence behind them, before Dino and Gokudera shouted some things and thus, being held by some figures aka Romario and Yamamoto.
Leaning back, she smiled sweetly at him before approached Hibari. He sent her a glare, one that could've make anyone coward, but she just smiled in response before pressing her lips on his cheek too, and that's enough to make both protective figures run amok. Reborn and a few others find it odd that Hibari and Mukuro would let her do it, but she had her own thoughts.
"Thank you… for everything," she said softly with a smile plastered on her face. Hibari and Mukuro tried their best not showing any reactions to that smile while the other guardians have wide eyes. There's a pause before they composed themselves, having a smile on their faces.
Now, if anyone could find an answer to this, they'd be all ears: who could've hated that girl anyway?
With that, a certain mad scientist snickered, "Interesting…"
A/N: haha, I've mentioned before that there's a probability of this being rewritten, so here it is! What do you think? Still feeling something's out of place? I hope not, but if you spot one, just tell me okay? ;D Thanks for reading, support, review, and subscribes! *smileee*
P.s. if you wonder where's the most changes made here, it's the ending part. The original version is that Verde exclaimed directly when Ryohei described the green ball, "That's my experiment—the ball!" instead of interrupting the talk and mumbling that, "Hmm… indeed it's strange." So, yeah, Verde's cooler here. Which I think, more IC than the first version.
And also, the last bits when Tsuna thanked them. The original one is that Tsuna hug all of them at once, saying thank you, which of course, didn't make sense (how can the smallest figure hug all six male teens? And you think Hibari and Mukuro will do that? Err… I doubt it). This rewritten version is that Tsuna hug pair by pairs, and thanked them, which is more logical in my opinion haha.
Questions readers frequently asked (or I will if I'm one)
Q: Sooooo, this is the end of Precious Fragments?
A: Not really, well, I'm not sure. I wanna make more of these compilation shots. But I'm also not sure, sorry about that
Q: Hmmmm… why Verde and Reborn still at Tsuna's room despite it's already midnight?
A: The meeting took a long time? *silence* failed explanation
Q: Yeah, why there are so many 'silence' effect?
A: Because well, they're all confused so they don't know what to say or at least take a longer time to respond
Q: Why Dino?!
A: LOL actually I've finished writing this chap about three weeks ago and all the while it was actually Ninth who came at the ending. But then I thought, 'isn't it strange for Ninth who's already weak and old to come in a rush there?' so instead, Dino come. Yeah. Why's he here you ask? Because he's staying there for the night after a meeting. Just your regular reason to be at the Vongola HQ. XD
Q: Whaaat? So the point is they all dream of Tsuna being dead and everything?
A: Yup. What this story want to point is that Tsuna has played a MAJOR part of their lives that the MOST unwanted thing they vision is losing her; which meant her death. Sorry the writing's kinda complicated and silly XP
Q: Reborn here only for passing by?
A: I did think that he's somewhat only passing-by here… only talking a few words. But oh well.
