Author's Note: Yes, I'm back! I still can't guarantee when I'll update, as my schedule is really hectic even now. Lately I've been revisiting this story and my plans for it and decided to try my hand at writing again. The title of this chapter, ironically enough, fits perfectly with what I'm attempting to do with this story. Now, enough of my blabbing, on with the show!

Chapter 3: Revival
Revival - A restoration to bodily or mental vigor, to life or consciousness.
The eerie feeling persisted as they passed through the deathly silent alleyways and buildings. Near the center they paused and one of them placed a hand on the ground, concentrating... A heartbeat passed.
"Is whatever it is here, Karin?" One of the hooded figures asked.
The woman twitched, her glasses sliding a few inches down her nose. "Shut it Suigetsu, I'm trying to focus!"
The man, Suigetsu, merely scoffed, idly shifting the large sword on his back to a more comfortable position. "Why are you always such a -"
"Silence Suigetsu!" Kabuto said irritably, clamming him up at once.
Karin spread her fingers, digging into the ground. She spread her chakra senses further apart, expanding the range...her eyes snapped open. "Got it!"
"How far?"
"One hundred meters to the west."
Kabuto nodded. "Let's go."
He watched as they came surging to the battlefield, clenching his fists in frustration. For perhaps the first time in his life, Shikamaru had no plan, no answer. How could they defeat... these monsters?
They were once human, of that he was sure. Most of them had extra appendages, or a head of a tiger, or razor sharp blades where their fingers once were. It was like someone took humans and creatures and put them into a blender. It was sickening. Far below, a bear with a young child's head ripped off a shinobi's arm, the creature laughing, displaying viciously shark-like teeth.
To make matters even worse(as if they weren't dire enough already), many of them had Orochimaru's cursed seal.
Only one man alive Shikamaru knew could pull this off...
Damn you, Kabuto!
The last Nara settled into his classic thinking pose. After a moment he rose, grimacing. They had no choice. It was time to gamble on an all-out assault.
"Ino" he barked. In an instant, she appeared behind him.
"Yes Shikamaru?"
"Send out the message, all available units head to the battlefield at once!"
Naruto gritted his teeth as he continued to dodge and weave in his so-far-taijutsu-only fight with Sasuke. Neither was gaining or losing any ground. They were just too evenly matched. It was time to take things up a notch. He jumped back and crossed his hands, sliding on the rocky terrain.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu"
Several clones appeared and they all scattered, surrounding the Uchiha, along with the original. In unison, they all raised their right hands. A swirling ball of wind formed in each, surrounded by another rotating layer of wind.
"Let's see how you handle my Rasenshurikens!" one of them roared. He couldn't confirm if it was the original. The clones threw them at angles, coming nowhere near the Uchiha.
"Wow, dobe, your aim has gotten even w-" Sasuke scoffed, before watching in slight surprise as a clone caught the Rasenshuriken before tossing it to another clone. He ducked as one whizzed over his head, slicing a few hairs on the way. Another came from the opposite direction this time. He did a forward roll and then leaped straight up as one went under him.
Is it just me or are they getting faster? he wondered as he backflipped away from another. Without his Sharingan, it would've been impossible to dodge them all. Another one went past and he leaned back, narrowly avoiding it slicing open his throat. That one was definitely faster than before, larger too... his eyes widened in realization.
He's adding more wind chakra to them!
"I see you've figured out my Suraisu Shōheki." A Naruto taunted. Sasuke watched it carefully as it caught and passed another one. It's a clone. he decided, as the wind chakra construct didn't change at all. If I can find the one adding wind chakra, I'll find the original...
His fingers flashed faster than humanly possible, using lightning chakra to enhance their speed.
I won't let you beat me today, Naruto!
The first thing she sensed was the sound of running water. It filtered in through her senses, gradually growing louder until, with a sudden gasp, Tenten awoke.
She leapt up, head swimming furiously. She could only sway a moment before her legs gave out, and with an "oof" fell face first into soft blades of grass.
"Where am I?" she whispered into the ground. Only the throbbing of her head replied.
She rolled carefully onto her back, sitting up slowly and scanning her surroundings.
She appeared to be alone in a small clearing, in the center of which was the charred remains of a campfire. Surrounding it were three sleeping bags, all empty. Belatedly, Tenten realized she was also in a sleeping bag.
Gingerly she disentangled herself from it and climbed to her feet, staring through the tall trees that surrounded her. She knew this place... ah yes! This was one of the favorite camping spots for Konoha ninja, about five hours travel from the Leaf Village. She coughed and grimaced at her scratchy throat. The stream was only a short distance away, so she stumbled over to it and took a few drinks, the cool water helping clear her mind and easing the lingering pain in her head. She thought over her situation.
How did I get here. Was I injured? Do I have a concussion? That may explain the headache. The last thing I remember was... A flash of red eyes invaded her memories.
Adrenaline flooded her veins. The Uchiha! She tensed, suddenly feeling naked and vulnerable without the familiar weapons she was so used to carrying. She quickly returned and searched the camp, keeping a careful eye on her surroundings. To her surprise, all her weapons were stored neatly in a large scroll next to her sleeping bag. She summoned a few kunai, twirling them expertly. Either she was recovered by allies(very unlikely considering she was alone when he attacked) or... captured by enemies so strong it didn't matter. A grim determination settled over her.
If I was captured, I won't let the Uchiha take me alive... but I'll do everything I can to take him with me.
A spike of chakra appeared in the clearing. The kunai left her hand before she even processed it. The figure narrowly dodged her attack, losing a few hairs in the process. Time appeared to freeze as they locked eyes.
"H-How dare you!" Tenten screeched, a rage filling her. "How dare you try to use him against me!" She seethed as her opponent had the gall to look surprised. She summoned one of her favorite weapons, a large axe. The "boy" paled as she hefted it and leaped. He darted away, narrowly avoiding the axe as it carved up the grass, cutting a sizable swath into the ground. She sprinted after him, swinging wildly and bellowing furiously.
"I'm going to chop you into bits!"
Karin led them to a corner of what used to be the Uchiha District. From there, they dug deep into the ground, until finally-
"Gah, how much further is this damn place!" Suigetsu complained loudly(as he had for the last 30 minutes) while he and Juugo(mostly Juugo) kept digging deeper and deeper. "We've been digging forever!"
Karin scoffed. "It's not my fault you're a useless lump of crap, Suigetsu. Try digging a little harder."
"Shut it woman." He muttered as he stabbed his shovel into the ground once again. The floor below him cracked.
"Oh shit-" was all he had time to mutter before he fell through. He fell about twenty feet before hit the ground with a splat, transforming his body to water just in time.
"Damnit Karin!" Suigetsu bellowed as his body reformed. The other 3 dropped down into the chamber. "You knew that was going to happen didn't you?"
Karin merely smirked at him.
"What the hell is this place anyway?" he wondered aloud, peering into the nearly pitch black darkness. It was only thanks to Orochimaru's experiments that he could see anything at all.
They were in a large cavern, nearly as large as the Uchiha district. Unlit torches dotted the walls, along with a painted pattern of Uchiha symbols. But they weren't what caught his attention. Row after row of stones lined the floor. Some were more ornate than others, but all looked fairly old and covered in dust. He glanced down at the nearest stone, just able to make out the words carved into the rock through the dim light and dust.
Uchiha Kagami.
"Wait t-this is an Uchiha graveyard!" He said in surprise. Kabuto took off his glasses and cleaned them.
"Not just any Uchiha graveyard," He corrected, scrubbing off some of the dirt with a small cloth. "The Uchiha graveyard. Every Uchiha since the founding of Konoha is buried here."
"But why are we here then?" Suigetsu asked.
"Hmph, I think they have figured it out." Kabuto smirked. "Just ask them." Suigetsu turned to his teammates and stared in confusion at their ashen complexions.
"What, what am I not getting?"
I grow tired of thisss Kabuto.
Kabuto leapt as if struck. The other three eyed him curiously. Ignoring their reactions, he placed his glasses back on his nose, removed the large scroll from his back and tossed it to Suigetsu.
"W-we have a mission to finish. Sasuke-sama is waiting on us. Suigetsu, unseal these. Karin light the torches and clean the graves. Juugo you're on digging duty. Move it!"
Suigetsu channeled chakra into the scroll and out popped... the body of a man with a Konoha hitaite.
"Eh? Gross, a dead body?" The man gave a gasping breath. "Wh-what the hell, he's alive!"
Sudden comprehension hit him like a sledgehammer.
"Edo Tensei? Oh Sasuke, you're a sick bastard." he muttered to himself as he placed the body next to Uchiha Kagami's grave. Three graves over, Kabuto was extracting DNA from a skeleton. He placed the hair into a jar and labeled it.
Soon, the Uchiha would rise again.
Next Chapter: The All-Out Assault!
A/N: Well there you have it. Poor Juugo didn't get to speak at all this chapter. Every time I tried to fit him in Karin and Suigetsu took over. I see him more of a strong silent type character anyway. I'll try to include him more when he pops up again.
I don't plan on adding too many new techiques to characters, and if I do they will all be built off their existing skill-set. It's far more believable that way. I want to be as true to the characters as possible, so if you think someone is acting out of character let me know!
This is only the beginning...
Jutsu:
Rasenshuriken - A wind variant of the Rasengan jutsu that creates four large points around a central Rasengan core. Can be thrown.
Suraisu Shōheki - Slicing Barrier - The user forms a barrier with clones and passes Rasenshurikens around between them, the original adding wind chakra to them over time, making it very difficult to escape or dodge. My first original technique, pretty cool right?
Edo Tensei - Impure World Reincarnation - The user binds the soul of a deceased person to a living vessel, restoring them as they were when they were alive in order to do their summoner's bidding. -Taken directly from the Naruto Wiki.
Notes:
Uchiha Kagami - Former jounin of Konoha. Most notably was teammates with Danzō during the First Shinobi World War.
