Hello everyone, sorry it's been so long! Between losing everything on my computer and end of school things, I completely forgot to update. I also forgot mostly everything that I wrote down for this chapter, so it isn't exactly how I wanted to go but it is still going in the same direction which is good!
The Doctor
It had been almost an hour since the ghost incident. John and Rory had gotten rid of the body as Sam and Dean couldn't bear to do it themselves.
"Thanks," Sam had murmured when they offered "Normally we would have no problem with this sort of stuff but... it's just different this time." Both of the boys had suggested that the body be burned, which they explained was a 'hunter' tradition. No one had the heart to deny them so they all went to gather some wood and, lighting the pyre with a lighter from one of Dean's pockets, stood vigil for the man that they did not know.
"Dean, Sam, I'm sorry but we need to move. It might get dark soon and we are going to have to find somewhere a bit safer." Everyone agreed with The Doctor and after a couple more minutes Sam and Dean quietly moved away from the flame.
They walked in groups, The Doctor, Dean, Cas, and Sherlock walking marginally in front of Amy, Rory, Sam, and John. The Doctor wanted to take this time to figure more out about is new companions but didn't know where to start. He was surprised when Sherlock asked the first question.
"So Doctor, when we first met, you mentioned different universes. What did you mean by that?"
"Well, when I found out that you were actually the real Sherlock Holmes, I realised that we couldn't be from the same universe. In my universe, you are a character in a book. I am guessing, Dean, that this is the same in your universe, going by what Sam said."
"A book!" Sherlock exclaimed "Someone wrote me? But that is beside the point, what I am trying to say is that it is difficult to understand how other universes exist in the first place."
"The Doctor chuckled "Why, because you haven't discovered them?" Sherlock's face confirmed his idea, though Sherlock tried to defend himself. "You humans don't understand how young you are, how much you have to grow before you reach your full potential. Of course you haven't discovered them! Even with my technology they are very hard to find, and even harder to get to..."
Both of the men saw The Doctor's face darken.
"You lost someone, didn't you?" Asked Cas.
"I did," Sighed The Doctor "Rose, her name was. She was brilliant, absolutely fantastic. But she had to go; her family was there and... well, she's happy now." Dean and Sherlock saw that The Doctor didn't want to continue this topic, so they left it alone.
The Doctor now remembered how much he hated waiting. All he wanted was his TARDIS. He could take her up and search for a good place to hide. Wait, they wouldn't need a place to hide, they could hide inside the TARDIS! That was if the TARDIS couldn't just take them out of here all together. He added 'find the TARDIS' to his mental to do list, which was followed closely by 'get out of here' and 'make people wear bow-ties, the look so much cooler than everything else', the last one could possibly be the most challenging, but in a situation like this The Doctor decided that priorities were important. He decided to ask some more questions to take his mind off of things. Hopefully this round would turn out better for him than the last one.
"So, Dean, who was Bobby to you?"
Dean looked up at him and, with a quick breath, explained it to them. "He was a good friend of the family. We were around him a lot growing up, then we lost touch for a while. Then, when my dad died a few years back, he took us in. Kept us together, kept our heads on straight, became a new father to us. He died not long ago on a mission. That man taught me more about hunting than anyone else I know, my dad included."
"Oh, that's another thing. When you say 'hunting' I assume it's not typical game?" The Doctor could see that Sherlock was barely holding his curiosity in. Obviously never hearing of this before, he was trying to learn as much as possible.
"No, we hunt monsters, things like ghosts, demons... wait, why am I explaining all this to you?"
The Doctor could see Dean working himself up. "Dean relax, we are just trying to learn more about each other, we have to, to build trust."
"Yeah but how do I know if I can trust you? You for one," He said, pointing at The Doctor "Are apparently an alien from who-knows-where, and the other one is a freaking story book character! How do I know that you haven't just kidnapped me and are coming up with some crazy story to-"
Sherlock held up a hand "Sorry to interrupt your rant, but did those statues just... move?"
The Doctor's blood froze. "What do you mean, where?"
Sherlock pointed, but the Doctor's vision was blocked by Dean and Cas "I didn't actually see them, but I swear they are in a different position than when I saw them a few seconds ago."
The Doctor moved to the side and sure enough, there were three angels, with stone hands covering their faces. Dean raised his gun, but The Doctor stopped him.
"No, that won't work. What I need you to do, all of you, is run. In the opposite direction. Go now." Raising his voice he yelled "Ponds, I need you to stop and turn around." He heard the group behind him stop "Go with the rest of them. I will meet you there soon." He could feel everyone's eyes on him, but he could alter his gaze for the sake of everyone's lives. He jumped when he heard a voice directly behind him.
"Doctor, what is it?" Amy. His curious, reckless, stubborn Amy. Never doing what he says.
"Yeah Doctor, what is it? They're just a bunch of statues!" He heard Amy gasp behind him and before he could stop him Dean moved into his line of sight.
"Dean no!" he yelled and jumped to the side, but the angels were fast. All they needed was a second and they were only a few steps away from the group.
"You want to see what's wrong? Turn around and look at the statues now." Dean turned around and the Doctor could physically see his whole body tense up at how close the angels were.
"I think that running would be a good idea." Said Cas, stepping back from the monsters. The men turned, The Doctor wasn't sure if they all went, but he could still feel Amy standing behind him.
"Amy go, I can work this out. Don't argue I've done it before. Just go."
He could tell that she wanted going to argue, despite what he said, but he just shook his head. He could almost see her in his mind's eye, staring at him before finally accepting defeat and turning around. At the same time he heard someone fall and yell in pain.
"Doctor its John, he's hurt. Come help" He tried to run backwards, but realised the he didn't know where John was.
"Amy, I'm going to need you to direct me!" Slowly, she led him so that he was parallel to John, only a few steps in front of him. He kept walking backwards, asking John if he was okay.
"Doctor, watch out!" But it was too late; The Doctor fell over a small bump in the grass. As he rolled back, he hoped that Amy would at least have the common sense to look at the angels. When he lifted his head she was looking at an angel.
But it already had its hand wrapped around John's ankle.
Thanks for everyone who has been patient enough to get this far. If you want to tell me what you think just leave a review (both criticism and praise accepted, no flames though). Hopefully I will post the next chapter soon. Xx jonn-stark
