Hello! :D
Britt here.
Been a while, hasn't it? About 3 months? I suddenly felt like writing again, so here it is. Although I mostly had the whole chapter finished already, I never got to editing it. /lazy Have fun reading! Should be one more chapter after this. ^^
CHAPTER 3
Now that they had finally finished stacking all the boxes, and with Judai seeming more and more relaxed after the awkward little drop, the brunette began to descend the stairs to the floor below them. He seemed to know the way to their room so Yusei let him take the lead.
As they arrived at said destination, Judai started fumbling through his pockets looking for the key to the door. When he couldn't find it after a thorough search, he found himself becoming more and more nervous, wondering if he had lost it somewhere. He had to admit that he was acting more fidgety around the other duelist than he normally would, feeling a weird kind of excitement in his stomach whenever Yusei was around. Really, it made him act even weirder and more embarrassed than ever. But honestly, he was going to be heavy hearted when the other duelist had to make his leave.
Having finally found the key, he let out a small relieved "Yes!" and opened the door. The room itself wasn't very big, but it had two separate beds, with a night post placed in between. He hoped Yusei didn't mind the coziness, but it was still a place with a warm, comfortable bed to sleep in. Snapping out of his daze, he turned to look at the dark haired duelist but found that he had already taken his place on one of the beds, claiming it and stretching slightly while waiting for Judai to wake up from his daydream.
''Is this how you live then?'' Yusei asks as Judai settled into his own bed, placing his bag on the floor. At seeing the confused glance on the other boys face, Yusei continued,
''Just hopping from place to place. Going wherever you're needed.'' As realization flashed on the brunette's face, Judai thought about his answer for a little bit. Unable to repress an enthusiastic nod, he answered.
''Yup, pretty much.'' He said, obviously happy with what he did, ''Although not much has been happening recently, with the exception of Paradox of course, so I have been getting a bit lonely lately, I guess. But that's all fixed right now!'' He smiled as Judai was obviously hinting at his presence.
As they both prepared for bed after this very long, tiring day, they ended up playing a few duels all the while yawning extensively, with Judai being fascinated and asking about what Card-games were like in the future. He didn't want to give up too much information again, but he figured a little bit more would do no harm, seeing as the slightly shorter boy had already pretty much heard about a few crucial events from the future from his own story. It also didn't help that he couldn't say no to that adorable and pleading face...
...
Judai's extroverted personality really seemed to have managed to crack Yusei's cool exterior.
He just couldn't help but smile whenever he was in the presence of the other boy.
-Desu desu desu desu desu, line break ,desu desu desu desu desu-
Suppressing a small yawn, Yusei opened his eyes and rolled onto his side. Trying to remember where he was, seeing as he registered that he was not quite in his own bed, he came to the conclusion that opening his eyes was probably the best solution. He squinted at the bright light that shone in his face and obscured his vision, but could make out the shape of a sleeping brunette on the other side of the room. Remembering the events from the day before, he noted happily that he did not have any nightmares today. Throwing his covers aside, Yusei sat up while checking the time on the cheap little clock hanging on the walls of the tiny room. Almost noon. Eyes widening slightly in surprise, Yusei wondered how he had slept for so long. He was quite sure that Judai normally didn't have any problems with that feat, but it was quite a rare happening for Yusei himself.
Putting his brown boots back on, but leaving the jacket and gloves on the chair they used as a makeshift closet for the time being, he turned to the quietly snoring boy. He called out his name but the brunette didn't stir. Walking over to the bed, he bent down, sitting on his knees, to look at the duelists face from an eye level. The boy was lying on his side, blankets half draped across his chest and altogether looking quite serene. After studying his face intently for a few more moments, he tried calling out his name some more but he wasn't waking up.
After the fourth or fifth time, he gave up and tried to wake him up by shaking his shoulder. The second he touched him though, Judai's arms grabbed a hold of his back, instantly dragging Yusei into the boy's bed, as he was hugging him like a human-life sized pillow. Laying there for a few seconds, not knowing where to place his arms, Yusei looked up at the face of the, amazingly, still asleep brunette who was mumbling something about fried shrimp throwing down a face down. Trying to pry the boys arms from his waist he found that Judai had him in a death grip, refusing to let go. After a few more attempts, including calling out his name awkwardly, Yusei gave up and allowed his head to lie down into the crook of the boy's neck, resting his arms partly on his chest.
After what must have been about five minutes, he felt the brunette stir underneath him, muscles tensing. Craning his head up, Yusei looked into the brown eyes of a blushing Judai, who instantly released him as their eyes met, throwing him off the bed in the process with a very undignified yelp.
Again…
…Cute.
As Judai recovered from the shock, (Yusei was lying in bed with him! …. why?), he peeked out from underneath the covers, which he had thrown over himself in the meantime, looking down with a sheepish expression at the boy sitting down on the ground below him. Of all the things he had expected to see, this was definitely not one of the things. Yusei was actually laughing, and not just a smile or even a grin. No, it was a full blown laugh, including a few sounds here and there, one that unexpectedly suited him very well. Judai felt himself go red at the strange and rare sight, but he couldn't help but laugh with him.
After looking at each other with full blown grins, (or at least on Judai's face, Yusei's was slipping back into one of the amused expressions he sometimes wore), they sat back up. Just as they both appeared as if they wanted to say something, the signer mark on Yusei's arm flashed a glowing, dark red. Looking back up at Judai, he could see that the other boy understood what that meant. It was time to go. To go back to the future. The Crimson Dragon would finally take him back, returning to his own time, shattering any kind of communication between the now very close friends.
Feeling remorseful, Judai let himself fall back into the bed.
''Well, I guess we'd better get going then.''
