Chapter 3

Looking out the window at his usual spot in North's workshop he watched as the other guardians arrived at the pole. North had called them the night before after April fell asleep so that they would arrive today when she woke up. Though both Jack and North had realized that she had yet to wake up and had not said anything since last night. Jack decided not to worry about it seeing as how the trip with Sandy to get to the pole had knocked her out cold, so if anything she must still be tired.

Sandy was the first one to the pole arriving in an airplane made of his dream sand next was Tooth, followed by at least five Baby Teeth, the kangaroo would be the last to arrive seeing as how the thing hated being in the cold of the North Pole. While the four waited for him to arrive North explained to Tooth what had taken place the night before with Jack filling actually explaining most of it. Tooth would nod to show that she was listening even as she sent her Baby Teeth to get the fallen teeth of children from around the world

"So where is she now?" Tooth asked as a lull came as her Baby Teeth were sent out. North crossed his arms and gestured his head towards the hallway leading to the many empty rooms. "The girl, she is in one of guest rooms sleeping. Hasn't even spoken since last night." North stated. Tooth's expression turned to one of concern.

"North are you sure she is alright?" She asked as she nervously flew in the direction of the guest rooms. Before she could get to far though North had grabbed a hold of the fairy's wrist keeping her from going any further towards the hallway.

"The girl is fine." North stated as Tooth turned to look the gentle giant in the eyes. "Nothing dare comes to the North to cause harm. And even so I would've felt if something come," North paused "would've felt it in belly." He finished, just as the Easter bunny arrived. Jack sent the over-sized hare a glare with the rabbit graciously returned.

"What took you so long Kangaroo?" Jack asked jokingly. The Easter bunny went right up to Jack stared him in the face in a threatening way and with venom in his voice said. "Again you bloody show pony, I am a bunny." Jack smiled lazily and shrugged not taking of fence at all as Aster called him a show pony. Again.

Before their usual arguing could start a booming yet gentle voice brought the two polar opposites to attention.

"Everyone is here? So down to business." Everyone looked to North who then gestured to Jack.

"Now, Jack fill in Aster about what happened last night." North said, knowing that Jack was the best one to tell seeing as how he was present for all of it. Jack not wanting to see North mad turned to Bunny and putting aside their agents to come began explaining what had happened and why North had summoned everyone here.

As Aster listened a thousand questions rang through his mind one of which he had to voice. "So what yer saying is that there is a chance that Pitch is back?" Everyone in the room was silent as they took in the question and thought of an answer. It was Jack that spoke first.

"There is no possible way that Pitch would ever come back, and even if he did we would know right?"Everyone looked to the others for some sort of answer. When no answer center North clapped his hands together, bringing all attention once again to himself.

"We will discuss this matter later but for now, Jack go and get your your long friend." Everyone's eyes he were on him as he turned and left down the hall to the guest rooms, Jack was almost nervous as he approached to door to the room that April had been sleeping in. Why was he feeling nervous it's not like the guardians are going to hurt her.

But as he reached his hand toward the chilled handle of the oak door the same nervous feeling that had overcome gum before. Why was he having this feeling? It's not like anything could've happened to April while she was here. North was he and so were the yetis if anything had happened they would've known. Right?

Jack brushed away the nervous feeling and turned the handle then slowly pushed open the door, not wanting to scare or surprise April with his sudden appearance. The room was completely silent and as Jack cast a quick look around the room he could see no signs of April. He took a step into the room and then another.

"April?" He called into the silence of the room. There was no answer and as Jack looked around the room once more he saw that it truly was empty other then the furniture and himself. He turned to the bed that sat in on of the corners and saw that the blankets and sheets were thrown about it and or laying on the ground.

Jack raced out of the room and down the hall toward the other guardians who were expecting him to come back with April. When they saw him comeback alone, they all knew the latest something was wrong.

Before any of them could ask Jack went straight out and revealed the worse. "April's not there." Everyone stared at him looking for any sign that he was joking but by the look of concern on his face they z knew that this was not one of his jokes.

A groan escaped her lips as she struggled to get up. As hard as she tried though she couldn't and when she had opened her eyes she found that it was completely pitch black. Had she really opened her eyes? The young spirit had to ask herself as she stared out into the darkness. Or so she assumed.

She sat for awhile and could tell that her eyes were slowly getting used to the darkness. Slowly she could start seeing the walls of what appeared to be a cave. Her eyes widened in shock. A cave what happened to the North Pole? Where was she now if not there? She tried to call out for help but found that she was incapable of doing that and when she tried to bring her hands to her mouth she realized that she was entirely bound.

April struggled as she tried to loosen whatever had her bound the way that she was but no after how much she struggled it seemed that the bindings keeping her to the ground were not budging. She closed her eyes praying that it was all a nightmare, and that Jack would be in soon to wake her up, but it wasn't a nightmare and Jack wasn't coming to her rescue.

She struggled a bit more against her restrictions but soon gave up as silent tears escaped her eyes and trailed down to the stone floor beneath her. She silently wept where she lay unaware that within the shadows a figure lay in wait, watching as the young spirit struggled and wept on the floor where she lay.
