Somewhere in Wisconsin, in a rural county-

"I'm telling you, Chris. There's something out there." A young man in his early 20's with light caramel hair and light brown eyes turned to face a teenager with brilliant violet eyes and dark brown hair, with a strange purple marking over the right side of her face.

This wasn't the first time that Chris had heard his friend, Seleni, or Sel, ramble on about life beyond earth. He was well aware she truly believed it, and she for some reason believed she shared a connection with some alien life. He'd heard it hundreds of times, and while he cared for her, he'd learned to just drown it out.

"I know, Sel. I know how you feel about the stars, but there are more important things to focus on." The pair recently discovered they were being tracked/followed, and they weren't sure by whom. Regardless, it had put both young adults on edge.

The two believed it was because of Sel's powers. Powers of destruction, adding to the mess, Sel had a bit of a temper, so that made it even worse, she didn't know how to control her abilities.

Along with telekinetic destruction, Sel firmly believed she held more power beyond that, but she didn't want to explore it. Having destructive powers was bad enough, expanding beyond that was probably going to be even worse.

The two of them found their way into a rural town somewhere in the foothills of Wisconsin's mountains. They needed food, so they made their way into a convenience store to look for what they needed. But they had to remain stealthy and not bring attention to themselves. The last time that happened it didn't end well.

While they did that, outside, Natasha, Steve, and Sam had managed to track Sel down in a

remarkably short amount of time, Nat credited it to facial recognition on security cameras around Wisconsin. However, neither of them were anticipating to see her step outside with Chris.

"Hey! You two!" Sam called out, causing the two to nearly drop their bags. Steve held Sam back while he made his way to approach the two. He looked at the picture provided to him of what Sel might look like now, and it was, for the most part, accurate, except she had the violet eyes instead of blue, and that weird marking on her face.

"Are you Seleni Ross?" The girl looked at him confused.

"What?"

"Are you Seleni Ross?" She gave him a suspicious look.

"Why does that matter to you?" Steve gestured to Nat and Sam behind him.

"We've been sent to find you, on behalf of your father." Chris looked at Sel.

"Father? I thought you said your parents were dead?" Sel shifted her eyes back and forth between Chris and the blond man before her.

"I-I-... it's been- I don't know…" She stumbled over her words, unsure of how to respond to that. Her hands began to glow unexpectedly and when she rubbed her face, there was a reaction, causing Chris and Steve to fly backward away from her, landing several yards away.

Nat and Sam covered their eyes, and when they looked up, the convenience store had a hole blown into the side, and the young man and Steve had been blasted a few yards away.

Okay, this was weird and messy. Now what?

The young man reapproached Sel with urgency, he whispered something to her and she got mad, shouting "I don't know okay? My memories are hella fuzzy, how am I supposed to remember him?"

"Hey calm down, we're not here to harm you," Steve assured.

"Who even are you guys?" She demanded.

"I'm Steve Rogers, otherwise known as Captain America. This is Natasha Romanoff, also Black Widow, and this is Sam Wilson, also Falcon. We've been sent from SHIELD on behalf of your father, Jackson Ross and Nick Fury to find you." Sel looked up at him baffled, and he could read the emotions crossing her face, she really had no idea what to do with herself.

"You're not here to arrest me or kidnap me?"

"What? No, of course not." Steve paused, "Who wants to do that?" She shrugged her shoulders.

"We can figure that out once we get back to base, come on you two," Nat said, gesturing to the quinjet parked a short distance away. Uncertain, Sel and Chris followed the three Avengers.

Sel was really at a loss. One moment she was looking for food, another moment and three of the Avengers show up out of the blue wanting to take her halfway across the country to see her father? She looked over at Christ anxiously, but he looked just as nervous as she did, and she didn't think he knew what was going on either.

Sel grabbed her backpack to look for her notebook. Once she found it she scribbled something down but made it an effort that no one could see it. Not only that, her powers were very reactive to her spike in emotional distress and confusion.

"Get it together." She whispered to herself.
