"Look Miroku there is a village up ahead. Maybe we can rest and get something to eat." Kagome said.
"I'm hungry!" Shippo whined.
"Maybe if you weren't such a weakling you could actually go a day without eating." Inuyasha scoffed.
"Hey Inuyasha that was mean. Take it back and I will make you S-
Oh you don't have the subjugation beads anymore." Kagome said rather disappointed.
"Yeah Kikyo removed them because there was no need from them I guess." Inuyasha quietly said.
'Or maybe to remove him from anything that reminded him of his old friends.' Kagome sadly thought.
"Inuyasha, do you see that?" Miroku asked.
"Yeah, a tornado is coming this way." Inuyasha had his hand on the hilt of Tessaiga. Before anyone could move, the tornado came to a stop in front of Inuyasha.
'The mutt has some nerve showing his face around my Kagome.' Koga walked past Inuyasha and stopped in front of Kagome. "Hello my beloved Kagome," Koga cradled Kagome's hands in his. "I stopped by because I smelled you were in the area along with this pathetic mutt." Koga sneered.
"Inuyasha saved me from falling off Sesshomaru's youkai cloud so be nice." Kagome said.
"Sesshomaru you say? Why was he in the area? What is he doing with you? He knows you're my woman." Koga looked deep in thought. "I will have to talk to him." Everyone in the group gasped.
"You know Sesshomaru?" Sango looked surprised.
"Yeah we grew up together. What's the big deal? He is only about 3 centuries older than me."
"If you have grown up with him and even you Koga don't know what Lord Sesshomaru wants with Kagome then he is being very cautious. Tell me Koga, do you and Sesshomaru talk much?" Miroku asked.
"Whenever there is business that needs to be dealt with or all the lords come together for a meeting then yeah. But I haven't seen Sesshomaru for a couple years now. Everything is peaceful now that Naraku has been vanquished." Koga said, "I'm surprised he would ask for your help Kagome. I know you have trained hard and have become more skilled with your spiritual powers but you are a human. But then again, Rin is still his ward so maybe Prince Icicle isn't as cold and hating of humans as I thought. I'm gonna go visit him and figure out what he wants with you Kagome. See ya around. If the mutt gets out of line just call on me! Bye Kagome!" Koga started running off into the direction of the West.
"Koga sure knows how to push my buttons." Inuyasha said through gritted teeth.
"You can't blame him, you left Kagome to fend for herself. I would hardly call that pushing buttons… More like payback." Sango said with his nose in the air. Miroku and Shippo agreed. Even Kilala meowed. Inuyasha's ears flattened against his skull.
"Come on guys, that is no way to treat your old friend Inuyasha. You have to forgive no matter how hard it is to… For your sake." Kagome said.
"Thanks Kagome." Inuyasha sadly said, "But I deserve everything after what I did to you. I am so sorry." Inuyasha's golden eyes held so much pain and guilt. Warm golden met sparkling blue.
"Inuyasha I have forgiven you. You will always be apart of this team. Don't forget that." Kagome smiled warmly at Inuyasha. 'And have a place in my heart.' Kagome thought.
Inuyasha wondered if Kagome had really forgiven him and why she was so nice to him. He deserves every 'SIT' in the world. 'Oh yeah I don't have my beads around my neck. Even if I did, I don't think Kagome would say it for that reason anyways.' Inuyasha smiled back and they continued on their way to the village. They walked through the happy, peaceful village. Everyone split up in order to go their own way and explore on their own. Inuyasha stayed with Kagome and Shippo while Sango, Kilala, and Miroku stayed close to each other.
"Kagome the sun is overhead, we should probably get moving." Inuyasha suggested.
"Yeah sure Inuyasha. Why don't you go find Sango and Miroku. I was going to see if Shippo wanted some sweets. I saved a little bit of money for goodies." Kagome turned and went to look at the carts.
"Oh alright! Thanks Kagome!" Shippo said.
Inuyasha stood there for a bit and just watched Kagome interact and smile with the villagers. 'She is so happy.' Inuyasha turned and went to find Sango and Miroku. She found Miroku flirting with the women and Sango was nowhere in sight. "Hey Miroku, where is Sango?"
"Oh my you have such a lovely fortune… Many children are in your future. Why don't you start with me?" Miroku flirted. The woman blushed and took her hand from his, "Monk you are such a flirt!"
"Miroku, Where is Sango?" Inuyasha asked again.
"I do not know. She left when I came over to all these lovely ladies." Miroku winked at another woman in the swarm.
"You lecherous monk. We should leave. Come on." Inuyasha grabbed Miroku by the nape of his robe. Miroku had tears running down his face. "Why Inuyasha? Why must you separate me from all these lovely ladies."
"Well for one: you have Sango and two: we are on a mission, Monk." Inuyasha dragged Miroku over to where he last saw Kagome. He sniffed her out and walked towards the entrance of the village. Sure enough Kagome, Sango, Kilala, and Shippo were all there waiting for them. "Come on guys we have to get going!" Kagome called out. Sango looked annoyed but not too terribly mad.
"Sango my love-" Miroku started.
"Save it monk." Sango glared in Miroku's direction and he hid behind Inuyasha.
"I don't know why you are hiding behind me. You are going to get what you deserve." Inuyasha stated.
"Right but I would rather not feel pain right now." Miroku said.
The group continued on until they found a river and Kagome filled up water bottles and everyone had a rest. Shippo's stomach started growling so Kagome made a fire and made some ramen for him. She gave one to Inuyasha who was shocked that she still remembered his favorite food was ramen. Inuyasha thanked her and ate it. Sango and Miroku split a lunch box that Kagome's mom made. After everyone had a rejuvenating break, everyone was back to running through the forest to get towards the West.
Koga came up to a large gate and was greeted by two big bear youkai.
"What is your purpose here Lord Koga?" Etor asked.
"I am here to discuss some business with Sesshomaru. Is he at his palace?" Koga asked.
"Lord Koga, you should address our Lord with the proper title." Ozem said.
"Ozem, Sesshomaru is like a brother to me, I don't need to call him by his title." Koga said.
"Yes but if you of such high authority don't refer to him as his title then the lower class will have no respect for such." Ozem argued.
"Is Sesshomaru here or not? I am on a tight schedule." Koga said.
"You may pass." Etor says. The gates open and Koga runs in. He enters the house and sniffs out Sesshomaru. Koga races up the second floor and stops in front of two dark, metal doors. He meets another set of guards but this time they are snake youkai.
"What issss your busssinesssss here?" One of the snake guards ask.
"I just sniffed out Sesshomaru and this is where my nose led me… What is this?" Koga looked up and down at the doors. 'A metal door? Sesshomaru what is behind there?' Koga wondered.
"Why don't you wait in hissss sssstudy?" The other snake guard suggested.
"As long as I'm not waiting there long. Sesshomaru better hurry. I have important business to discuss with him." Koga turned and walked down the long corridor and turned to his right and at the end was two big, long, birch doors next to those was a door. Koga opened the door and went in to wait in Sesshomaru's study. Koga walked around Sesshomaru's study and picked up a few scrolls to read. He sat down on the futon to read a few of them. Koga became bored and put the scrolls back and walked to sit behind Sesshomaru's desk. Koga sat down and started to reach for the first paper he saw when the doors swung open and Sesshomaru stood in the middle looking pissed.
"Koga why must you always be so inconvenient with your timing." Sesshomaru said annoyed.
"Nice to see you too Icicle." Koga grinned, "I hear you have some business with my woman."
"Your woman?" Sesshomaru questioned.
"Yeah Kagome. What do you want with her?" Koga said.
"Koga you fool. You are mated to Ayame. You cannot have two women" Sesshomaru's expression fell and he pushed Koga out of the way to sit in his chair.
"Sesh what's going on? Why do you need Kagome?" Koga was worried for his friend.
"That is not any of your business wolf." Sesshomaru said.
"Well I plan on staying here a few days." Koga told Sesshomaru without asking for permission, "to see if you're okay and everything is running smoothly."
"Do as you please. You always do. Maybe next time you will be more considerate and bring your mate." Sesshomaru still seemed annoyed.
Silence fell on the two and then Koga broke it.
"What is your business with Kagome?" Koga asked.
"The miko affairs do not concern you."
"I think it does since she is my woman."
"Koga you are such a pup". Sesshomaru sighed.
"And what is up with those metal doors?" Koga sat down.
"Why were you by the metal doors?" Sesshomaru asked.
"Because my nose led me to that door. But your scent just stopped and then I couldn't smell anything."
"I suggest you don't go to those door ever again." Sesshomaru stated.
"But Sesh you were behind them, no?"
"Yes Koga I was."
"Why?"
"This Sesshomaru doesn't owe you any explanation".
"Well Sesh just know I'm always here and I don't judge. I'm by your side through thick and thin."
"Noted". Koga dismissed himself and lowing bowed to Sesshomaru. "Goodnight Sesh."
Inuyasha and gang got to the West the next day around sunset.
They walked up to the palace gates and were greeted by the two bear youkai
"What are you doing here half-breed?" Ozem sneered.
Kagome was in no mood to deal with prejudice demons. She stepped in front of Inuyasha and pointed a finger in Ozem's face, "How dare you speak to Inuyasha like that. Just because he is a half demon doesn't make him beneath you and he deserves respect." Kagome's eyes were flaming. Ozem growled lowly and pulled back his upper lip to display a mouthful of sharp, large, white teeth. Kagome stood her ground, finger still raised in a discipling manner.
"Ozem you would do well to mind your status and watch your tongue. Or should I remind you of your duty?" A deep baritone voice spoke behind the two guards.
Ozem and Etor both turned and knelt to the person.
"A thousand apologies my Lord. Inuyasha is just a lowly half breed and isn't worth your time Lord Sesshomaru." Ozem tried to justify his actions.
"Inuyasha, although he is a half demon, is still that of royal blood. He is just as welcome here as I am. Do try and remember that." Sesshomaru sternly said. 'This Sesshomaru doesn't want to get blood on his hands.'
"Sesshomaru." Kagome dreamily said. Sesshomaru turned to her group and was confused with the expressions on each of their faces. Sango and Miroku were staring at him, eyes bulging out. Shippo and Inuyasha both had their jaws dropped and their eyes as big as saucers. Then, his eyes laid upon Kagome and she was looking at him admirably. Sesshomaru stared deep into her blue eyes and got lost. He heard a throat clear behind him and snapped out of his daze. 'Was that witchery?' Sesshomaru wondered.
"Sesshomaru. You stood up for your brother." Kagome said.
Both guards exchanged looks and rose.
"This Sesshomaru doesn't see the problem."
"Bastard. Why are you all of a sudden so nice and caring?" Inuyasha regained his composure.
"Inuyasha watch your tongue." Sesshomaru warned.
"No all of sudden you are sticking up for me? What has caused your ice heart to melt huh?"
"You did not seem to be standing up for yourself. The miko had to defend you."
"Sesshomaru I was only telling these guards that they shouldn't discriminate against someone who is different than them. They seem to think they are all high and mighty." Kagome said. Ozem snarled and Etor glared at his brother. "Ozem, knock it off." Etor warned. Sesshomaru replied with a low, feral growl and glanced behind him. "Ozem, why don't you take the rest of the day off as it seems you cannot control yourself."
"Lord Sesshomaru, I am more than capable of doing my job."
"Clearly you are not."
"Lord Sesshomaru, I will serve the West until the day I die. I will not let a meer human insult me." Kagome cocked her head to the side and release her aura. Everyone that wasn't a demon smiled as they were warmly embraced by Kagome's powers. All the demons stiffened at the small yet intense power that was washing over them. Their skin prickled as Kagome's purification powers danced along their skin.
Etor eyes widened and glanced at the woman in front of him. Etor bowed to the priestess. Ozem eyes narrowed at his brother's actions and looked at the priestess in front of him.
"So you're a miko huh?" Ozem asked.
"Enough. I am sure the miko and her companions are weary of the today's travels. Please follow this Sesshomaru." Sesshomaru began to walk back towards the palace. Kagome called back her power and looked at the guards and smiled. She followed Sesshomaru. Inuyasha cautiously followed his friend with Miroku, Sango and Shipp behind them. Kilala looked up at the two guards and softly meowed before following her friends into the palace walls.
Hello. Long time no see. A lot has happened. Let me tell you. I got caught up with life and totally forgot about these stories. I just recently was thinking about Fanfiction and my account! It's only been a year since I updated lol. ONLY. RIIIIGHT. I hopefully will upload another later this week. Summer school sucks. Bad grades sucks. Let me tell you. I also had the worst writer's block because I edited this story but couldn't remember the actual plot/story idea I have when I began. Oops. Please enjoy and review!
