A Living Hell
Chapter 3: Regretful Decisions
As the years rolled on Rayne became stronger and stronger as a child of the dark. Although Sister Blake tried her best to keep her safe, She couldn't help but feel Rayne might be in danger not even she could protect her from. She hated the fact of Adoption for a child as unique as her but Rayne needed to be with a normal family to be safe. Blake made a few phone calls while Rayne stayed in her room drawing as always. She drew beautiful yet macabre pictures and Sister Blake never understood how something so dark could be beautiful and gracious at the same time. It's as though she was more of a child of Shadows then Darkness, Not of the light fully and not of the Dark completely, Just right in the middle. She felt bad for what she had to do to protect Rayne but it was her only chance at life. She might not ever get a chance to see her again but she will always be with her heart, body, mind and soul. That was all she needed to know she was doing the right thing and hopefully these people don't bring her back again because of her mischievous. She chuckled at the thought of Rayne causing small chaos every now and again. Her being older now she doesn't cause harmful mischief, Just small humorous amounts. Finally Sister Blake had found the right family as she believed to take Rayne away. As the paper's stated they were near the time of moving to a further away area miles away from here. Blake quickly called them and started to prepare for Rayne's long decent from her. It was in the nick of time too because the father had just about finished decoding her birth letter she arrived with. Rayne lay on her Bed, Cheerfully humming a song she liked while drawing a picture of a raven flying from the skull of a corpse in the rain. She was happy today for some unknown reason and hoped to remain happy. She noticed her door open and she lay up and set her drawing on her bed. Sister Blake entered the room with a small hint of hidden gloom and disappear. Rayne made a confused look as the sister sat on her bed and held Rayne in her arms. "What's wrong with you? You look like someone died..." Rayne said it in a way she couldn't help but giggle a little. She started to cry slightly and spoke in a soft whisper "My child...I'm sorry, Please forgive me..." She wiped her tears with a pocket tissue. "Sorry for what? Your not making me go near that cross thing again are you? You know they make me sick for some reason." Blake had forgotten Rayne didn't remember much from her childhood. In fact she doesn't even know she's not human or even from this world at all now that she thought about it. With a sigh she thought about not telling her that, It'd be the worst thing to mention before she leaves. Hopefully she'll learn at some point on her own. Sister continued on before her thoughts get to caught up in her good bye. "No, Rayne, My child...You've been adopted by a family who's currently moving to a whole other area miles from here..." Rayne couldn't believe this, She'd never see Blake again, The one nun she liked and raised her since birth. "W-what?" was all she could utter out before weeping on her. Sister Blake placed a caring hand on her back and rubbed her gently, "I know this is a lot Rayne but you must be strong, No matter the distance i will always be by your side just like the shadows on the wall..." She stopped patting her and looked into Rayne's blood shot tear filled eye's, "You must promise me you'll never return back here Rayne...Please do it for me." She didn't understand, Why was she telling her not to come back? This is the only home she's known her whole life. "Why can't i come back? Did i do something wrong?". Sister bake sighed once more and said quietly, "Please be safe and may your father remain with you." she got up and headed for the door. Rayne just lay there counting the minutes as they went by, She waited for a priest to enter her room to tell her their here to take her. She couldn't believe this at all, Why would Blake not want her to return here to see her? It didn't make any sort of sense! Sighing she decided to pack her thing's before they showed up. Sister Blake entered the main entrance doorway and opened the door to wait outside. The warm summer wind greeted her as the sun was beaming in and out of light grey clouds. She sat on the bench by the garden in the front of the building, she quietly listened to birds chirping cheerfully around her. All she could think about was how perfect the day looked but how gloom she'd made it. The head priest entered Rayne's room as she picked up her last item and shoved it in her pack. "All done i see?" She turned startled. "Whoa!" she oofed as she fell backwards. He chuckled "I did not mean to startle you my child, Just came to inform you the family is arriving momentarily." Rayne got up "Alright, Thanks." She grabbed her bag and headed to the main entrance to wait. The family entered the main doorway by time she got there. Rayne tried her best to smile even though she felt like dying on the inside. The family seemed okay to her appearance wise, The mother had long flowing wavy gold hair and wore a white dress with black heels while the father had slicked light brown hair and wore a light grey suit with a blue tie and the ugliest pair of black crocks on shoes she'd ever seen. Sister Blake walked in and quickly greeted them both. "This is Rayne?" the woman spoke, her voice filled with slight concern. "Yes, This is our very unique Rayne Ophelia Hallows." she spoke with a smile. The woman began to slightly smile, while the father stood there still looking around the place. He finally stopped and spoke "Is they're any paper work we have to sign before leaving?" Sister Blake looked at the Father "No, There all filled out. You can leave now if your ready that is." The couple smiled and the mother grabbed Rayne's bag for her. Rayne watched Blake and noticed she wasn't looking at her at all. She made not eye contact though Rayne could tell she knew she was staring at her. She sighed and walked out with the couple. As Rayne walked towards the parking lot she noticed their car was extremely fancy and she had guessed they were a very wealthy family. A man in a drives Uniform walked out of the driver door and opened the back seat door for them. Rayne quietly entered the car and sat in the seat across the couple as they sat down. She watched as Sister Blake walked outside to wave her last farewells to Rayne Noticing she started to weep as she tried to smile at her. Rayne frowned but waved good bye forever and then lay her head on the side of the door. The car started and they began their journey to the new home. For most of the car ride it was silent, The couple couldn't help but stare at Rayne as she lay there watching through the window. Finally the mother broke the silence "Hello Rayne, I'm Abby. Your new mother." She seemed shaky when she spoke but it was probably nerves. "Hello." She replied silently not dropping her gaze from the window. The father began to speak as well "I'm Victor, Your new Father." he didn't seem shaky but more nervous. Again Rayne replied with a simple "Hello" and still didn't drop her Gaze. "So how old are you now Rayne? Sister Blake didn't seem to tell us much about you except the fact you've been there since you were born." the mother spoke more confidently this time. "I'm 16 now. Sister Blake has been my guardian since i was a baby so she knows the most about me." She gazed at them for a short moment then went back to the window. "You don't have to be shy around us, We won't bite." Victor spoke in a upper tone. "I know. I'm just not used to people" Rayne this time stopped looking out the window, A frown still smeared across her face. "Do you two have other kids? Or am i just the only one?" Curiously she spoke. "Well you have your cousin Grace. She live near where we're moving. Maybe later on after we're all settled in our new home we could introduce you to her?" Abby said more chipper. Rayne then asked "Where exactly are we moving anyways?" The couple looked at one another and said "Well, we're moving to California." Rayne smiled slightly. she thought "Well at least I'll live near some famous people i guess. Maybe some freaks like me too, Who knows?". She lay there, a bit more relaxed then before on the seat. She fell asleep in the car ride until she was woken up by the mother. "We're here." is exclaimed contently. Rayne rubbed her eye's a looked around. The car stopped at the front of two iron gates that a vines in twine neatly around the walls by the sides of the gates. There was a plate screwed to beside the gate. It read "Darekly" But Rayne pronounced it as "Darkly". The house was hard to see but she could tell it was huge. There lay a long path like driveway that seemed to cut through a small forest before reaching the mansion. The place seemed to loom over the whole area like a creepy old castle on a hill during a thunder storm. Rayne was very excited now and seemed very eager to emerge from the cars doors. The gates opened up and the drive walked back inside the car. The started up and they began to trail to the mansion. Rayne watched as the huge place seemed to grow more and more as they neared. Another gate was there only this one didn't have a door so the driven went right in. In the front of the mansion there was a fountain with little gargoyles' within the decor of it. There was also a garden around the fountain and a few benches here and there. The stairs to the entrance were huge but it was a good thing there wasn't many. There were many windows around the outside of it and a few side doors as well but what really stood out was the balcony on the very top floor. It had a draping canopy over it and a dining set for two. Rayne had to admit she'd like it here, She couldn't wait to get inside. The door opened and Rayne walked out of the car slowly and cautiously like she was on thin ice. "It's beautiful!" Exclaimed Rayne. "Haha, Well I'm glad you think so. You can go on it, We'll be there in a moment." Victor said. "Oh and you can go pick a room as well Rayne, Most of the house isn't fully furnished yet but it should be all set up be the end of the week along with your room. You can design it as you please once we get you some stuff to fill it with." Abby spoke sweetly. Rayne could hardly wait, She dashed up the stair case and bolted in side. The house was humongous! "I hope i don't get lost in here..." Rayne said to herself jokingly.
Meanwhile back at the Orphanage:
"SISTER BLAKE! HOW COULD YOU BETRAY YOUR FAITH TO OUR MIGHT GOD?!" The head priest screamed loudly. They had finished the decode of the letter she came with only days after Rayne left. "I DID IT TO PROTECT THAT CHILD! SHE MAY HAVE BEEN BORN ONTO DARKNESS BUT SHE WAS PURE AT SOUL!" The sister howled back at him. "WHAT SOUL?! THAT THING IS NOT PURE AT ALL! IT IS THE ANTICHRIST! IT WAS PREDICTED TO START THE END OF ALL LIFE! HOW DARE YOU HIDE THAT KIND OF DARK SECRET FROM US! IT MUST BE FOUND AND KILLED WITH THE SEVEN DAGGERS AT ONCE!" Blake wouldn't allow it, she refused to let them find her. "You'll never find that child, Her paperwork was burned after they left...I will not allow you to kill her! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THE SLAUGHTERING OF THAT INNOCENT GIRL!" She had become more and more enraged. The worst they could do is get rid of her and denounced her faith she thought. "It doesn't matter, We will find her! It must be stopped!" He yelled to her as she stormed away. "...I will find her someday again but till that day i must remain hidden..." she whispered to herself. Sister Blake packed her things and walked out of that door, Taking the original birth note from Rayne and her decoded one with her. She quickly got on a bus before they could stop her she was gone. "I'll start a new life until i know where Rayne is, Then I'll come out of hiding to protect her...Not matter what." she spoke to herself.
Meanwhile some where near Rayne:
A man franticly ran down an alleyway, For sure he lost it, he had to have lost it! He quickly turned around only to hear laughter in front of him. It sounded just like that freaky small man that's been chasing him. "Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck!" he screamed. He saw it in front of him, His ice blue eyes staring right into his. The blade glistened in the small amount of light within the alleyway. "Nonononono! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!" The man screamed at it. "I WANTED your father but he's dead now, So you'll have to suffice as an escaped victim of mine...Well Almost escaped." It chuckled at his demise and within a flash it jumped on him and slit his throat making him go limp and fall to the ground. "So long little Norris JR.!" it said mockingly as he lay there bleeding to death. Quickly the little man walked out from the Alleyway onto the side walk. "Ahhh, Perfect night to kill in Hollywood. Nothing could make this any better beside's a scotch and a bitch." He laughed and ran his fingers through his wild red hair. "Fuck..." He pulled his hand from his hair to see blood. "Little fucker hit me good with that bat." He walked towards a store and stole a first aid and quickly walked to the side of a building to bandage himself up. "Man it's not easy being a doll...Still get hit with shit." he sighed and quickly finished up. He thought to himself "I need to find a place to crash...I'm dead tired right now." and looking around he saw a sign. "Welcome one and all to the carnival of wonders!" He was in luck. "Oooh. Maybe if i pass out in a toy booth some unlucky fucker will win me as a prize and I'll get a sweet home to chill in for a bit." He laughed at the thought of being some ones toy but it was the best chance he had right now. "Killed everyone on my 'Seek Revenge' list so why the fuck not? Heh. This is going to be fun!". The demented doll smirked and began his walk to the Carnival. "Chucky's going to Get lucky Motherfuckers!" he chanted as he continued his walk.
How right did he guess. Only he's going to be the Tormented this time. Chucky better what out, There's a new Creature in town and she's starting to crave blood...And LOTS of it.
