Wind beneath my Wings of Freedom
Summary: My name is Kagome. Since the end of my adventures down the well, I've been living in what one might say was an 'alternate universe'. And maybe that's true...the world I knew, was no longer. I came up through the well of a family I had never met...and was taken in by them. I became a storyteller...a tutor...and the caregiver of the orphans near the outer wall Maria in the city Shiganshina. "To them...I'm just a story teller...but to the kids, it's hope that my words reveal."

Kagome turned and looked to the man who had called out to her, "Hannes...how goes guarding the wall?"
Hannes rolled his eyes, "there's nothing to guard, all the Titans do is scratch and scuff up the walls."
Kagome frowned, "A small monster isn't something to mock, when it roams in large numbers. And in case you haven't noticed, the Titans are actually pretty big. If they decide to come here, in a large number, for whatever reason...we will need guards, not slugs."
"Ouch! Come now, Kagome...you can't insult a guy like that. You know how much Hannes likes you!?"
"Shut up!"
Kagome smiled, "I like guys who put forth a hundred percent effort into their lives...live...but live bravely, strong, and fighting for what you want to protect. Even if it costs you your life, then you will know that you didn't just lay down and die, but you went out with a fight."
Hannes watched her pass him by before turning a glare to the guys sitting down not too far from him. "Couldn't keep your mouth shut, could you."
"Wait, was it a secret that you liked the resident storyteller? Damn, my bad."
Kagome laughed in the back of her head. Despite being so far from the group, she could still zero in on what was being said. She'd known of Hannes attraction for her, but really, she didn't feel the same. She liked him though. He was nice, and had been very kind to her throughout the going on two years that she'd been there. She just wasn't sure if she could fall in love with anyone any more...or...maybe she just hadn't met the right person yet.
A chill ran down her spine and Kagome shivered. Her hand subconsciously gripped the Shikon Jewel that hung around her neck, no longer shining brightly, now just a dull pink orb. 'This feeling...' Kagome frowned, she knew this feeling of trepidation. "Just like the war with Naraku...just before the attack..."
Kagome jumped at the sound coming from the street. She handed the money to the market man after grabbing her basket of carrots and jar of cream. Hearing Eren cry out, she curiously followed his voice. Finding him standing with Armin and Mikasa behind a large crowd. She knew what this was, having seen it a few times. She looked around and noticed that everyone, including the merchant she'd just met with, was in the crowd watching the Survey Corps Soldiers return from their latest excursion. Clearly...a failed journey.
Jumping backwards, she landed carefully, silently, atop the rooftop of a nearby building. Thinking that no one would see her, she watched from where she was perched, and noted, many soldiers were missing limbs, sporting broken bones or bleeding profusely. She could heal them...but that would mean letting them know of her abilities. She wouldn't do this unless it became absolutely necessary. She felt a pair of eyes on her and turned her eyes to see a pair of steal gray orbs staring coldly right at her.
'...who...'
"Kagome!" Eren called out to her. Breaking her out of her train of thought.
She tried to look away, but his eyes were drawing hers away from the kids. She forced her eyes shut and turned away quickly, jumping off the building and accidently scaring the hell out of the kids. Armin ran up to her with Mikasa beside him, both looking her over to see if she was okay, but she was just trying to get those eyes out of her head. "Who was that?"
"That man?" Eren smiled, "that's one of the Survey Corps soldiers! Corporal Levi! That's his name...Levi! He's supposed to be a one man squad on his own."
"I see..." Kagome made her way back towards the house, giving one more look back over her shoulder, she noted that the group had stopped, and the man's eyes were still on her. "Let's get back home. Are you good Armin?"
Armin smiled, "Yes, I'm heading back home now, I'm not far, so I can go alone."
"Very well,"
Mikasa and Eren waved farewell to Armin before walking back to the house with Kagome. It was thereafter, that everything began to fall apart.

"How was your day today Kagome?" Grisha questioned.
Kagome smiled, "I left earlier this morning to Sina and got back in the afternoon, Sina was fun, of course, but the MP's in Sina are still that same lazy soldiers they always are. Then I had a run in with our MP's here in Shiganshina. Where exactly is the motivation?"
"What motivation can we find in a cage?"
"Eren!"
Kagome grimaced a bit. This war was a constant one in the household.
"...Eren says he's going to join the Special Elites."
That was Mikasa, pushing a poker into the fire. "..."
"What? Eren, you will do no such thing! Get that thought out of your head!"
That chill ran up her spine once again, and Kagome stood suddenly, making her way outside and gripping her arms nervously. She glanced around and frowned, '...why am I getting this feeling?'
Screaming came from inside, and not even a few moments later, Grisha opened the door and stepped out, saying something to Eren about the cellar and the key around his neck. Just vaguely was she listening, until a hand met her shoulder. She turned and noticed the frown on Grisha's face.
"Things are about to change...Kagome. You can feel it...I know you can." He smiled sadly, "I knew when I started healing you, tending to your wounds, that something wasn't normal about you. So I'm asking you, do whatever you have to...so long as Eren and Mikasa live. Please..."
