step into the room and smile at him, I grab his hand from my cheek and walk in for a hug.

He pulls me tight and I smell his old familiar scent – the ocean and sea salt.

I contemplate telling him the truth, I do not want to worry him, I have not been in his presence for long enough to tell if he has had a stressed day or not and I don't want to pile on to his workload.

While I stand there debating what to say, he puts both hands are my cheeks and kisses my forehead, repeating the previous question of "what happened?"

"It was nothing dad, one of the kids in my school was trying to fight my friend Grover, so I stepped in to stop in and got hit in the face. It's really not a big deal," I say. That was only a minor lie, part of it was true, I did try and defend Grover.

He looks at me suspiciously as if trying to decide whether he believes me or not, the moment is interrupted though when he receives an urgent IRIS message informing him that he is needed at Atlantis.

"Go," I say, "I will figure something out for dinner, don't worry I am very capable." He smiles and says "also please do your homework."

I just roll my eyes and walk out of his office and to the kitchen. I conclude that is a breakfast for dinner night and make waffles, as they are cooking I quickly finish up my math homework and then take the waffles to the living room for a Friends marathon.

It was going to be a goodnight, I thought to myself as I did the clap at the opening theme song.

I could not have been more wrong.

Around 11pm, I find myself asleep on the couch with the 'netflix' screening asking me if I am still watching and conclude that I think its time for me to go to bed. I find it strange that my Dads not back yet or that I have not heard from him, he usually calls to tell me he will be late and I am sure he would have woken me up when he got back or at least moved me to bed.

I walk around and turn off all the lights before brushing my teeth and crawling into bed.

Around 2am I hear a large bang and am woken up with a startle, I expect to hear my Dad going to check what it was or come check on me but all I hear is the sound of vicious movement and things toppling over.

I get out of bed and put on a sweater and some sweatpants and walk out of my room to see what is downstairs. The moment I see it, I feel my heart stop beating in my chest, it's a minotaur and I am all alone.

I recognize that I will never be able to beat this on my own, so I quietly move down the upstairs hall to the back set of stairs that will take me to the outside porch. Once down, I quickly run out the door and sprint as fast as I can and as far as I can from my house. I know the directions to camp half blood and know that getting there is my best chance of safety at this moment. As I stop to calculate a plan I realize that the minotaur is running at me, he must have realized I had the left house and followed my scent.

I pull out my sword and realize that there is no chance that I can out run him, so I may as well die fighting. He comes running at me and just before he gets to where I am standing, I dodge to the left and swipe at his leg, making a huge gash which causes him to scream out in agony.

In his moment of distraction, I strike once more, this time at his stomach, slicing him through the abdomen, and then I hear a familiar voice scream my name.

I turn and see Grover standing to the right of him, trying to distract him, Grover yells at me to run across the street behind him and try and get to camp half blood. I know where it is, my Dad made sure I would be able to get there in case of an emergency and this was an emergency if I had ever seen one.

I cannot leave Grover though, right now the minotaur is distracted by Grover so this would be the perfect time to try and get a slash in that could be fatal or just injured enough that Grover and I can run.

So I run at the minotaur, I leap at him and land on his back, I quickly impale my sword into the side of his neck causing him to crashing to the ground. He screams out in pain and send me flying over him. I land on my back and I feel as though all my bones are on fire, I have never felt such pain before. Grover coming running over to me and asks if I am okay, I nod and roll myself on to my stomach, trying to stand up, knowing that I have limited time to get away.

"We have to go," I say "He will be up again soon." And Grover and I run as fast as we can, I feel like my body is dying, the pain from my fall combined with this run is almost unbearable but I know we have to make it.

Grover turns to me and says, "You see that pine tree, right there?" I nod. "That is where camp half blood starts and where you will be safe."

We run faster.

Then the minotaur comings running in front of us, looking madder than ever. Grover looks at me and says, "I will stay behind and distract him so that you can make it to camp half blood."

I just shake my head and say, "I am not leaving you behind we are going to make it there together."

At that moment, we both run towards the minotaur. Grover pulls out his flute and starts playing this awful music that makes vines come from the ground and entraps the beast, while that is occurring I slash at the monster, hoping to make one fatal.

But then Grover stops playing and when I turn to see why, I realize that not only are we fighting a minotaur but two hellhounds have also shown up. I yell at Grover to distract the minotaur and I start fighting the hellhounds using everything my Father has ever shown and taught me. I slash and dodge and am able to kill both of them in a relatively quick minor, I turn to see how Grovers doing and see him on the ground, with the minotaur about to finish him off. I run towards them and again jump the monster, flashing him wherever I can reach. This time though he is smarter and he send me flying to the ground before I am able to hit him. I feel the bone in my arm break and I land on my side and I cry in pain.

The minotaur comes charging at me and I know that this could be the end if I don't do something creative. I reposition myself so that I am laying on my stomach and as he comes running at me, I use my one good arm to stand myself up and then take my sword to his neck for the final blow.

And just like that he's a pile of dust. I run to Grover and check on him, realizing that he is still alive, I grab him and drag him the last few feet past the pine tree and the last thing I see is people running to see us.
